I think it's important to keep in mind that if you imagine that Jesus actually is divine and that he was fortold in the Old Testament, then this stone could actually be referring to a prophesy to be fulfilled in Jesus' time as opposed to a separate individual preceding him.

I just found an Amazing scripture in John 11:49 to 11:53 read it and I’ve come to an understanding that the high priests of that time wrote that stone while Jesus had already realized his purpose because earlier in the book of John in John 10:18. Jesus is saying how he only has the power to take his life and give him self life. He is explaining his death and resurrection before people even knew he’d do that and Jesus said im John 10:18 that he is commanded to die and resurrect! So, a 2,000+ year old stone tablet that was not engraved, but merely written on with ink? Who did that? Ink was used on parchment. The point of writing on stone was the permenence of the engraving. Using ink forfeits that advantage. Yet here is a tablet written upon with ink (red flag #1?) that is almost entirely perfectly legible (red flag #2?). Then the owner of the tablet -- not a mueum or national collection, but a private collector -- will not allow investigation of the piece (red flag #3). So what do they do? Commission a forgery? (red flag #4) From photographs?? (red flag #5) For the purpose of investigating the authenticty of the original??? How much crazy sauce have they been drinking? Just...here, take the whole pack of red flags. All of them. Just... Ugh... I'm generally very open minded about archaeology that might not fit conventionally accepteted history. That's how we gain a better, fuller understanding of the past. But this claim is just *so* sloppy! How can they expect anyone to take it seriously? Also, the idea of a suffering messiah was not new in the generation before the birth of Jesus. It arises in the Old Testament books of Isaiah and Psalms among others. This entire claim is sensational, poorly executed, poorly documented, and yet, is more than anything used as a stepping stone to advance a questionable specific point of view. All this equals: highly suspect. The word "hoax" is probably overused. But seems especially fitting in this case. How can anyone believe this?

Well that hypothesis would have been true, except, that Jesus and His life was foretold hundreds of years before he lived, and not just that, but the exact way He will die and be resurrect. Thus, yes, there is many, and there were many after Him, that claims to be Him, except, none survives time. Only an intimate relationship with Him, can reveal His reality.

The problem with the hypothesis that John the Baptist was the link between Simon Perea and Jesus is that John the Baptist was no more than 2 years older than Jesus as the very most. It was already written about in Isaiah long before this stone was painted.

The problem is that Simcha Jacobovici does not highlight historic facts. It is well known that some jewish scholars speculated about two messiahs to explain why the Old Testament is talking about a suffering and dying and a victorious messiah. These scholars could not understand that the same messiah would be suffering and triumphant. It is also well known that before and after Jesus there were many alleged messiahs. That is why John the baptist is asking: "Is it you or shall we wait for another one?" And Jesus is answering by pointing to the fact that he is doing the prophesied messiah stuff. So it is not only the question of death and alleged resurrection of this "Simon of Perea" but also the question of the authority and power of the messiah. And the fact is that no one of these alleged messiahs can compare with Jesus in any regard. Non of these fake messiahs could do what Jesus did and left a "movement" that was very powerful and is existing til today. "Simon of Perea" tried to defeat the Romans by military force. Jesus rejected this idea completely. because His Kingdom is not of this world. So how can anyone suggest he did copy this "Simon of Perea"? If he existed he failed the same way as Simon bar Kochba. Therefore the fact that there were a lot of alleged messiahs is no proof at all that they copied each other. To the contrary: Jesus points directly to the fulfillment of scripture in his works and in him as a person. He did not need to copy anyone else. He was and is a man in his own right. The only person he would "copy" is his heavenly Father whose works he professed to do. So Jesus did not copy this "Simon of Perea". These facts are enough to just laugh about the claim that the discovery of this stone would alter Christianity. So it does not matter whether this "Simon of Perea" ever existed. If so he was not resurrected from the death otherwise that fact would have been widely known as it was with Jesus. And the rest of this video is just a lot of speculation.

Bearing in mind what we know of constant insurrections in Judea and the threat they posed to the Romans, this story unfolds a logical and plausible sequence of events leading to the work of Jesus (and his end by the hands of the Romans fearful of yet another potential insurrectionist leader). Let's not forget that Christianitry as we know today was actually shaped by Paul (much to te dismay of the remaining followers of Jesus).

This messiah is one of many, an amalgam creating the typology of the "historic" Jesus, as written by Philo, Tacitus, Suetonius, Plutarch, Josephus, and Pliny the Younger, written during and after the Flavians' reign, a military war zone, with the Alexanders and Herods, post 70 a.d. after the destruction by Titus of the Jewish Temple when Berenice involved herself with the Roman ruler Titus.

Isn't there at one point somewhere in the gospels someone called the twin? He's mentioned as one of those not present in the room when Jesus appears in front of the apostles.

I don't know anything about another messiah before Jesus, all i know is that everything Jesus said is spot on: Love one another, help the poor, help and encourage those who suffer; acknowledge God and He will acknowledge you, etc, etc. I'm no scholar or historian, but those instructions/tenets sound right to me, so i trust and admire him.

There are many ancient artifacts that are modern forgeries. When you can't examine the artifact you can't make a judgement as to it's authenticity.

Ink written on a stone and still clearly visible after 2000+ years? That sounds very unlikely. Maybe the reason the collector didn't want to show the stone is because he might know or suspect it's a forgery?

I want to know more about this tablet. I thought that it had been declared a fake by the Israel Antiquities Authority (albeit after much study), although I might be conflating it with another one. I would have wanted to see detailed spectroscopic study of the ink and tablet material, and to understand the basis of this being declared fake or otherwise (if indeed it was the same object).

I love this man's work. The passion is contagious! The question for me would be; if John was the link between Simon and Jesus, then John must have been at least several years older than Jesus, not a few months. If I am correct, then according to his presentation, John would be about as old as Jesus when Simon died. So, how did John "know" Simon?

Look also to Egypt to discover where teachings of resurrection first came from. Osirus was the first to be resurrected by the grieving Isis, who put the pieces of his body back together after his brother Set had dismembered him, then magically restored him just long enough for them to conceive their son Horus. Zoroastrians also have a story of a Messiah who rose after three days. The story of the Good Shepherd is a very ancient one, Jesus far from being the first who accomplished this feat of resurrection. In fact, the crux of the belief that later became known as Gnosticism is the belief that we all have this spark of divinity within us, and resurrection or transformation of the body into a body of light, is a process open to us all, the real purpose of Jesus' mission to Earth, not just to believe in someone who can save us. Yea so the death and resurrection of the Christ was prophesied by the prophets and Torah years before Jesus was born....duh. Most people call it "old testament".

So the writing style can be at least within that wide a range probably more considering styles grew not at once but over decades. Word usage and Grammer also play into dating also to narrow things down but not as much as is stated here in my opinion.

See article below from 2023: What he now doubts is that the text speaks of “making the dead live after three days.” Following the readings of Yardeni and Elizur he accepts as the translation for line 80: “In three days the sign will be (given). At 35:17 the narrater says: 'The Gabriel Inscription which is at least "400 years" older than the earliest 'New Testament' text...' ect. Is the Gabriel-text not dated at late first century bce or very early first century? Was that just a mistake in the narrater's text? 3 separate scholars refuted the authenticity of the stone. A Hebrew expert said it was incorrectly translated. He said it actually means in 3 days Gabriel will give a sign. It is largely accepted to have been written in the first century CE which actually puts it after or simultaneous with Jesus.

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

He lived in ancient Israel, he was called the “Good Shepherd”, he was killed by the Romans and he rose in three days.................what a contradiction.
