Pretty cool overall. It was kind of rushed but obviously 30 minutes shows have their limits, though they could've apporached it several ways regardless.

Episode 9 was my favorite for Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker alone.

If I was the Watcher I'd get like a thousand Doctor Strange's, a billion Thor's, and a trillion Captain Marvel's.

Given how damaged the Infinity Gauntlet was after Thanos' Snap, I imagine Ultron might not want to exert that power for fear of destroying himself in his Android body

I interpreted their need for the Soul Stone to be that it would be the essential part of the Infinity Crusher which brought it to life and made it go to town on the other stones. It’s probably a detail we missed in that missing episode. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I believe, if they get the soul stone Ultron can’t just get another one because he can’t make a sacrifice for one.

I dont get why the watcher chose that team, just get 5 Doctor Strangers have them do the duplication spell and dogpile Ultron with a trillion Stranges.

For the deleted episode, it would’ve been based around avengers 1. Tony would’ve flown the nuke into the wormhole but it’d be; what if…Tony didn’t make it back from the wormhole. instead he ends up floating through space until he reaches another wormhole, ending up on saakar. He would’ve then built the suit and fought in the grandmasters arena in whatever order. Not sure how thanos killer gamora would’ve played out tho, but I was most excited for this episode and was super let down….PS there’s a lego set based around this and the suit that Tony has transforms into a race car! You can see the wheels in the episode!! He was gonna build a saakarian hulk buster transformer 😂😂

I really liked how doctor strange was just so powerful in this that he really was just the biggest threat to ultron throughout.

My guess for who is in the Hydra Stomper: They winter soldier Steve. Steve gets captured during a mission, but instead of just losing his arm, his entire body is badly damaged and they fuse his body with the armor. Basically a big darth vader suit. They do the winter soldier thing and turn him into an assassin, unfreezing him between missions. The Steve that Peggy has just rescued is still indoctrinated, but has lost touch with his humanity feeling more machine than man.

In my culture, death is not the end. They are still with us, as long as we do not forget them. Feels right to post this after the last we'll ever hear of Chadwick Boseman's warm, wonderful voice. He will be sorely missed,.

What was clever is that they hinted at the real winning objective near the start of the episode when Strange and Uatu say “The only way to kill Ultron is by separating the stones from his body.” Strange remembered that at the end when he trapped Killmonger and Zola in the pocket dimension, and I really loved that detail.

Tony and Gamora teaming up is obviously a nod to the Avengers: Infinity War trailer that made it seem like Tony and Gamora would have a conversation in the film but come the film no conversation was had.

I liked it overall. That makes sense that the episodes were supposed to be longer because a lot of them felt rushed. Glad to learn it wasn't intended to be that way.

Is anyone else worried that Strange Supreme's hand is going accidentally tentacle up like before and just smash that snow globe to bits? Like, "Don't worry Watcher, I'll take care of-Whoopsie! I got apocalypse all over the carpet."

I’m still confused how Zola is a more powerful AI than Ultron. How was Ultron not able to fight off a guy who was essentially a dial up AI?

I was bummed Carter's world basically ended up exactly the same as the MCU despite it being a radically different concept (Iron Monger in 1944). But I guess we needed that to get the connection to Natasha. I did call the heel turn of Zola and Killmonger, but assumed they'd just kill each other along with Strange. I know it was shown to be this way in the MCU, but I did find it a little underwhelming how limited Ultron was in using the Stones. Like he could blast stuff all day sometimes to huge effect, but then he finally use the Time stone (shouldn't that have been how he first tried to get the Soul stone back) and then was stopped by Strange's Time stone....but he also has the Reality and Power stones to amp his effect. It's WHY having all the Stones is such a big deal...why even having two in one place was so dangerous.

I’m sure eventually they’ll release the Gamora episode. People want to see more of this show so it would make sense to finish the episode and put it out in season 2 if that happens (tbh it’ll probably happen).

I appreciate that this confirms that under the same circumstances Peggy just flat out lives the same life as Steve.

My headcanon is that the missing Gamora and Iron Man episode had them building the infinity stone crusher using the soul stone as a power source, as that was the one stone Gamora knew the location of.

I’m just theorizing for that Gamora episode Tony would arrive on Skcar during the New York fight after he took the missile through the portal he saved everyone but as he fell down the portal closed and another sends him to the planet becoming the champion before Gamora arrives to destroy in thanos’s name possibly as she fights him and frees the planet from the grandmaster becoming the champion to then challenge her father thanos.

For the Watcher's oath, the answer in the comics is in Original Sin. They are an ancient race who provoked a catastrophe for a younger race by trying to help them. So they made that oath to themselves to never intervene again and as a punishment to be the memory of the universe.

Something that annoys me is that a huge chunk of the mission involves the infinity crusher, a device that thanks to the missing episode we know next to nothing about but it's handwaved because we are already supposed to know this stuff. If it was such an important episode, why completely cut it out instead of just pushing back the schedule one or two weeks if necessary? Also, not for nothing, but the Lego Sakaar Hulkbuster was one of the bigger What If sets that came out...

Im honestly confused what was going on in party Thor's world, because we saw stoned up Ultron in his universe at the end of that episode, but the Watcher took him out of that universe so ig that wasn't the same Ultron they ended up fighting? Probably just covid limitations but I wonder if I just missed something.

Very enjoyable series but everything felt rushed and the humor is just oversaturated. It's basically fan fiction but with a big budget. Hopefully it gets better in the next season.

I do wish Strange was able to have a better ending than what he got… he carried the team hard and he deserved one especially when everyone else got one…

Every time Chadwick Boseman / black panther was on the screen he completely owned and was the best in all the scenes. His episode was the best one for me. 10/10 and best version of thanos too.

I was theorizing that they needed the soul stone to bring the infinity crusher to life, seeing as putting the stone in seemed to awaken it. Maybe it needs a soul to work? I guess we might understand it better if we ever get the Gamora+Tony episode.

I think Dr. Strange's protective spell stood up to Ultron's power was largely because he had a time stone.

A really good send off in the season finale. My main takeaway was two things: Making Ultron relevant again, since AOU wasnt the best Marvel movie out of the whole line-up. Ultron really can be a great villain given time and story. And secondly, a bit of fan service seeing Black Widow live through different means. I think we have to accept that we're not going to see this BW in the MCU again.

This was my favorite show by far. Seeing where all these stories end up is super fascinating.

I feel like What If is just high budget Fanfiction where the series was written with the philosophy of 'How much different can we make it?' While subsequently sacrificing important bits to flesh out each individual story and make them end in a satisfying manner.

I thought it was pretty disappointing to be perfectly honest, a lot of my complaints boil down to the episode being rushed and Ultron being incredibly underpowered compared to Ep 8. To address complaint one, while I appreciate catching up with characters during the recruitment montage, what we saw during the episode didn't really justify why any of the Guardians besides Strange and Widow needed to be there. Thor was only around for comic relief (which I personally found cringey), and Gamora was from a cut episode and was only there to introduce a literal Deus Ex Machina as a red herring. Most disappointingly Killmonger never had any meaningful dialogue with the alternate version of his cousin, and was there just to betray everyone. This leads me to complaint number 2. While I appreciate the solution being something other than overpowering Infinity Ultron, a lot of what we saw relied entirely on Ultron being neutered and just forgetting to use his powers. I understand the challenges of writing a character that OP, but the solution isn't to suddenly make him an idiot. The power to annihilate entire universes with a single thought and Ultron just shoots lasers instead. No real uses of any of the stones powers, the Time Stone gets a brief moment to... just freeze people midair. Just a profound lack of creativity all around. Alternate versions of heroes and villains assembled to fight a multi-universal threat... and really only Strange does anything.

The Infinity Stones are only supposed to work in their universe, when they travel into another one they lose all power. They acknowledge this, yet Ultron is still able to use his stones, yet they can't destroy them because it's a different Universe. *I'm a bit confused gif*

Ultron wielding 5 out of 6 infinity stones (including space, time, and reality) and still getting up and physically running to grab the soul stone was one of the dumbest things I've seen happen in the MCU. I have a lot of issues with the writing of the series and the writers not seeming to either understand, know, or care about so many aspects, and that single shot of Ultron running like any other shmuck really summed up a lot of what I think. Also I guess Vision's eyes are just some glass over two USB ports.

I think the important thing to note about Ultron taking his time is that he's still half tony stark so it makes sense that he's a raging narcissist who would pull shit like that. Also, maybe they should've done Sakaar Tony instead of the zombies

They should have gotten James Spader or have Ultron have one voice BUT when fully upgraded he gets Spaders voice

Fun fact, I'm a Librarian and they do still release these on DVD oddly enough. We get a lot of patrons who come in specifically to check out the latest streaming shows but they can't afford the subscription.
