Wash & Go on Short Natural Hair | Big Chop | 4C TWA

4 жыл бұрынIn this video I show you why I love my big chop so much!!! My hair routine has become such low maintenance… I can just wash and go!!!! Well in my case I like to add a couple more steps because I’m extra LOL, but it takes me less than 10 minutes to define my twa after I wash it so for me it’s a win.
My hair routine is as follows:
1. I shampoo & condition my hair once a week
2. 2-3 days later I co-wash my hair
3. 1st Saturday of every month I go to the salon for shampoo/condition and a trim, and ever other month I touch up my color. My stylist uses Pravana Chromasilk Extra Light Blonde 10N and 40 Volume developer.
In this video, I show you how I style my hair after I shampoo or co-wash:
1. Use rosewater as a moisturizer and to ensure my hair is wet
2. Seal in the moisture using jojoba oil
3. Apply cream curl definer to prevent my hair from getting crunchy
4. Apply gel using the palm of my hand in a circular motion to activate the curls
5. Use the end of a rattail comb to lightly separate the curls so that there are no sparse areas
6. With gel on my fingertips I grab and press down any flyaways to minimize frizz… a rattail comb may also be used to press and tuck any flyaways
7. Use gel to smooth down edges and sideburns

Same! Easy breezy I was afraid to cut it now I may keep cutting it because this is eeeeeasy! I have very dense hair with thick strands which is y I went back to a relaxer only to realize I wanted to be natural so I waited a couple months until l had new growth then cut the relaxer out.

@@royalgems5185 Right?! I’m literally done my hair in 5 minutes every morning🙌🏾. I considered going back to a relaxer at one point but the first thing that comes to mind is “good hair.” I know it’s a bit extreme seeing that I never had issues with my relaxed hair before I went natural but that disintegrated can gets me every time 🤦🏽♀️ Short hair just works. I hope you continue to enjoy the journey❤️

Tina Delgado The green eco styler seems to have a lighter hold. Plus using cream curl definers like shea moisture prevents my hair from feeling hard. What do you use instead of gel?

With your color, how often do you color your hair, especially when water is needed or is there s special moisture to keep the color for a while?

Paris Collier Salons in my state have not yet received the greenlight to come out of quarantine so I haven’t colored my hair in 4 months. With that said, under normal circumstances I usually go to the salon to touch up my color and trim my hair once a month. In the next three weeks, I shampoo my hair once a week and cowash mid week. My hair is currently an inch longer than it was in this video making it harder to maintain my wash and goes so I re-wet my hair, rub a bit of Shea Moisture and eco styler gel throughout and lightly pick out my hair every morning. I guess shampooing and co-washing weekly helps my hair maintain whatever moisture I can. I also do my best to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily and eat more real food most days of the week instead of processed man made food to be healthy which also benefits my hair.

This isn’t completely related to the video but I just wanted to know your opinion. Do you think that I, a 15 year old girl, am too young to get my hair cut to your length or a teeny bit longer? I’m asking because I really want to cut my hair but I don’t want to look “too grown”.

I love this question, it's so mature and thoughtful of you to consider all the pros & cons (specifically along the lines of whether the style you choose would be age appropriate) before cutting your hair. :-) I personally do not believe that the this length would be considered "too grown." I've had all sorts of styles over the years and they never detracted from my youthful appearance growing up. I speak from the experience of one who grew up in a very protective and strict household; the different hairstyles I wore were never considered too grown. I've learned that whether or not I looked "too grown" was not limited to my hairstyle or it's length but also included the way I carried myself... For example, anything I had to hide from an adult meant it was likely inappropriate and I'd think twice about doing or saying and I also followed a strict dress code...I had to cover up my behind if my pants were form fitting, I was only allowed to wear dresses & skits no higher than 2 inches above the knee, nail length & color were usually natural and I could not were make up. I couldn't even get my eyebrows waxed until I was 16, LOL. Again, I don't think the big chop is "too grown" especially if you're mindful of the way you carry yourself. Ultimately, others may have different opinions but the opinion that matters most is yours and (since you are under 18) your parent or guardian. You sound very mature and respectful, I think your on the right path. xo

Lori Love I’ve already talked to my mom about cutting my hair sometime in the summer and she seemed okay with the idea. I was only nervous because I didn’t want to look older to other people but your advice made me feel less nervous about that, thank you!! :-)

Crystle Tucker I actually get my color done at the salon. All I I know is that my stylist uses Pravana Chromasilk Extra Light Blonde 10N and 40 Volume developer but I am unsure of the process. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful but I’ve never done chemical processes on myself.

Thank you! Idk if I even want to grow it out. It's so easy. I thought about color, but decided not to. I don't want the maintenance. I think my edges are the hardest to keep in line. I also have a few sparse areas from wearing ponytails for so long. Hopefully they fill in.

Lily Raimey I really like the blonde so I’ll continue bleaching it as I long as my hair remains “healthy.” I say “healthy“ with quotations because I am aware that bleaching my hair is not the healthiest habit. With that said, I’m not using any heat along with the color and I live a healthy lifestyle so my hair has been fine so far 🙌🏾

I wish I’d started my journey on a healthy note ( I bleached it with such a low volume developer so I thought I’d be fine) giiiirl, let me tell you, my hair had never been as dry and hard to manage, so I had to cut it again. Wish I could rock the bleach like you.😩

Lily Raimey OMG I am so sorry to hear that! Honestly, the only reason I bleached my hair is because I inherited whatever gene it is that causes my family’s hair to grey early. I was already coloring my hair to cover the grey strands and decided to experiment with a lighter color. I would’ve stuck to my natural hair, otherwise. If I have any issues, I’m going back to dark brown LOL!!! Have you tried temporary color? I recently heard about it, it’s supposed to much safer.
