@@v8matey all thrusters and space-magic-physics art least. The main conceit is that they have thrusters with orders of magnitude more efficient (higher power and much lower fuel burn) so hopping around the solar system or even into and out of earth orbit is way cheaper than is technically possible.

Can I just say that Wash's death was completely unnecessary and frankly, in my opinion, he deserves better. Ok thanks, that's all.
@1337penguinman3 жыл бұрын
Whedon likes killing off main characters rather unceremoniously like that. Usually much further into the story than you would expect and at times you would never think to worry about. I think he sees it as a way to emotionally connect the audience with the characters on screen. So you're pissed off right along with the remaining characters.
@ThinWhiteAxe3 жыл бұрын
They had to lose someone to make the audience really feel the weight of the fight. Like, sacrifices must be made for the victory to have emotional weight. It would be too perfect if everyone made it thru, y'know? Plus there was something a little poetic about him dying in the pilot's seat after pulling the maneuver of a lifetime. That having been said, my heart broke for Zoe and the others nonetheless 😭😭😭😭😭

I loved Wash. The worse the situation, the calmer he got. Makes me sad how they ended him. Why are Reavers so hard to out run when they obviously run their engines very inefficiently?
@loosh51014 жыл бұрын
Probably the same reason my wife's Kia will never outrun my Charger. The latter has a (relatively) inefficient but very large engine.
@EtzEchad4 жыл бұрын
Loosh Actually, most modern sedans will outrun anything made in the 60s. My Hyundai Sonata had a top speed of 155. (Faster if you change the computer chip.) I had it up to 135 once and it was still accelerating like a bat out of hell. A 1970 Charger with a 426 had a top speed of 137. A Kia Optima has a top speed of 152. Muscle cars are junk.
@tyson314154 жыл бұрын
Efficiency != speed. Bicycles are more efficient than any other mode of transportation, for example.
@DeathlordSlavik4 жыл бұрын
They run their engines hotter then recommended which is what makes them faster at the expense of them giving off more radiation, basically it is like turning a reactor to above 100% you get more juice but extra waste heat and radiation which is why when they are going as fast as they can their engines give off all that extra smoke its a side effect of running the engines that hot. Also a tuned up muscle car will go much faster then any modern sedan especially since with muscle cars you usually have far more room in the engine compartment to add tons of modifications or what most people do put in a much more powerful engine, anyone who thinks muscle cars are junk is a fool who fails to understand just how much power you can add to the car.
@EtzEchad4 жыл бұрын
DeathlordSlavik Sorry, you are wrong. No production car from the 60s was as fast as the average sedan of today. Some RACE cars were as fast (barely - the pole speed at Indianapolis in 1968 was 171. That is barely faster than my Sonata.) but no production car was as fast. Muscle cars are junk.

@uzrdutiutfiztdf35453 жыл бұрын
@@Hunpecked probably a ships engines (rear) are more vulnerable to the fireburst than the front. also if u wanna do damage with the heat rather then the pressure wave then blasting the reaver ship from behind is more effective because the heat will stay longer on every shippart because the ship is moving in the same direction then the wave
@ajdominguez10022 жыл бұрын
Because of the Grav Hook on the port side of the ship. If Serenity got any closer, then the Grav Hook would pull them in. Even if you tried to fry them,, it would probably tear up Serenity as well.
@WarBerJr029 жыл бұрын
I don't get it! What exactly did they do to make the enemy ship explode?

What, the Crazy Ivan? If that's what you mean, that's not an easter egg from that book. It's a submarine maneuver made famous in pop culture by The Hunt for Red October. And although they do use it in Senerity, I would say that it's a misnomer that reference, IMO.

Cut the hydraulics. Presumably Serenity doesn't have controls that allow engine nozzles to be inverted like that. So Kaylee cut them, then he blasted the engine opposing to flip them around far more quickly than designed, before using the burn to escape. By the time the Reaver recovered from the burn, they'd be far and away out of there.
@andymac48834 жыл бұрын
Welp, looks like someone in editing got the shots of the engine rotating the wrong way around; the first shot is of the engine pod rotating to face *backwards* where the second shot after the 180 shows it rotating to face forward, as it should've done *before* the manoeuvre.
