This video is by far the best belt replacement video on youtube that I have seen. Its great for people who have never worked on a dryer machine and need a step by step on how to replace the dryer belt ....Great job

5:10 bare, scraped, bloody hands. When he pulls his mitts back out of the dryer...gloves! Magic! Very informative too.

Wow posted 11 years ago and you helped me out today. I have a different model, but it was pretty much the same thing. Replacing the belt wasn't that bad, but taking the dryer apart and putting it back together was a real pain. Anyway thanks for the video. I got it working because of you!

This is a great video. He is so professional and calming that he convinced my sister she could fix my dryer and now it is completely broken. He does do a great job of explaining this process.

Thanks for the video. Took me just over an hour! The hard part was looking at this video from front on and then trying to do it blind from back on... but after some fooling got the belts around properly. Putting the panels back on again was a pain but got them all back together and turned it on and not a gig. I knew one of the wires must have come free from wiggling the panels around... so took it apart again and sure enough. Reconnected and wiggling the panels was easier the second time around as I knew where they had to go. And now it WORKS :) Yay!

Great video! The hardest part is figuring out how to get the pullu down far enough to loop a too small belt around it. A real strangle but the GE dryer now works again!

Couldn't have made this repair without this video!!! I loved how the tech went in with gloves...did the work without and had cuts to prove it....and then came out with gloves on...Amazing. and I have cuts to prove it. Thanks again!! Great Job!!

Excellent information! My only comment is that with the unit apart, it would have been the perfect time to lift out the drum and perform a thorough cleaning! I've read where the back of the drum gets clogged with lint over time. Regards.

This was perfect! The instructions another site gave me was flat out wrong. Everything is exactly how he shows. Thank you

Thank you. Have a GE dryer and the belt broke. Followed your instruction. Worked like a charm. My only suggestion is that it is a good time to clean out the dust from the spinning dryer fan blade and ducting. Mine had gobs. A vacuum nozzle worked wonders.

Cost to have someone come out: $150 + parts. Cost to do it yourself: $40 in parts and about 40 minutes from beginning disassembly to working. Bought the felt and a new belt, went pretty much as expected; I hooked the end of the tension pulley against the motor frame to get the pulley into position, then was able to get the belt into position easily. Also, a spun the drum by hand so the belt could find its proper track. Piece of cake, even for the not-so-mechanically-inclined.

**** TIP **** I used the old belt to rap around the belt tensioner with my right hand, pulled it all the way back, then used my left hand to guide the belt around the motor and pulley. Then released the tensioner and pulled out the old belt that was on the belt tensioner.

If replacing the belt because it is split or cracked, just cut it off. Save scraping your skin during removal of the belt. You are bound to scrape your fingers when installing the new belt. The video shows fresh blood on the installers hands. The gloves are a great idea but you loose the sense of touch and feel.

Thank you very much for this useful information. I ended up taking the side panel off as well. Not all the way, but enough so that I was able to reach the pulleys.

Make sure the arm on the tension pulley is pushed down as far as you can push it. If not you'll be close to getting the belt on, but won't be able too. It took some force with our dryer to get the belt on that pulley. Remember to put it on the motor pulley first too

Thank you very much for this great video. I'm sure you saved me $100 or more.

4:40 is where it gets tricky! I had to twist my arm in there while my daughter lifted it up to pull down the pulley and get it on there. While it's hanging there pull it around pulley first then attach it.

You sir, are a star! Thank you for such a clear video. I was unable to figure out the belt route until I saw this then presto, done in a few seconds! Fantastic Thank you so much!

This video was very helpful, although I have a GE SRK DISR473E propane gas dryer. Probably over 25 years old. It started having problems where the gas burners would not stay lit. Your video explained how to remove the top and front, but now I need to remove the combustion chamber and heat exchanger. Do you have any information about that? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I only paid $35 for it, used, and it has worked flawlessly until recently. Thanks!
