I’m so glad I watched this i literally just washed for the first time after 6 days and they got super frizzy and kinda loose so I got scared and started crocheting them too be tight again than stumbled upon this video and now I’m so much more understanding the frizz is normal as for the little loose hairs

I've just started putting small dreads in my hair after dying and washing it last night and I was very curious about how often to wash them. Luckily, I wash my hair maybe once or twice a week, sometimes longer because I have no motivation whatsoever so I should be okay. This video was really helpful so thank you :)

Thank you so much. My dreads are just over a 1 month old. You answer every question I needed answered. I wash my hair every 7-10 days. I never really washed my hair a lot in the first place. I have naturally coarse, curly, frizzy hair. So it's about what I washed it to begin with. The Frizz is horrible at this point. I thought man it seems after I wash my hair my dreads are a lot loser and falling out, but this video was point on and helped me so much. Thanks for taking the time do help people like me with their questions.

I just did my first wash 4 days after starting my new short hair (3 inches) backcombed dreads. I used a hair net while getting my hair wet, then remove it to apply/massage a teaspoon of dreads shampoo on my scalp and then, placed back during rinsing. So far soo good, baby dreads still on and the best of all, is that is was able to stay under the water and relax for a while, without worrying too much about my young dreads falling apart. Best feeling ever after the first wash!

I got my hair twisted last Sunday (the 5th of February) and I am about to wash it for the first time today (the 13th of February). I am a little wary but from what I am finding online i should be good. Going to have a cap on while i rinse and shampoo them out as I read that that should help keep them in place. Thank you for the video the information was very helpful! 2 and a half year old video so you may not see this but Keep up the good work brother you got one more subscriber now.

I have straight hair and did twist n rip method. My dreads are very loose and flat (2 days old) should they be tight when I start them? I tried fixing them with a crochet hook but it doesn't really work because they're basically just messy/frizzy looking braids. Should I start over and do them tighter? Or will they knot up eventually? I'm so confused as to what they should be like to start with..
@Lefty1x9 жыл бұрын
No one had a question similar, but I've been growing my hair for about 3 months now(from last haircut) I use a sponge to help my coils.. When I wake up they're almost all gone.. I thought I was supposed to wash less, I'm wondering should I wash more?

I've been prepping my hair for the last 2 months - I'm able to go 7-8 days between washes (super fine and thin hair) - I also haven't used shampoo or conditioner for over three months. I've been researching and waiting for the best time to do my dreads for over a decade, and it's finally going to happen next weekend! *happy dance* Just wanted to say thanks for all these vids, as they have been entertaining and reinforcing the positive information I have found (ie. not using wax, using baking soda and acv for deep cleans, etc.) online and through other friends that have had dreads. I doubt there is anyone more prepared for this new hair life! Have a great day! :D

Why have you stopped shampooing your hair?

Oh... I meant I wash it with not shampoo and conditioner - have yet to find a good soap, so in the mean time, I am using dish soap. I have baby fine hair, so between that and the the lemon juice, I'm trying to get it dread ready. Sorry for the confusion.

Question(s): I am following the neglect method and the first knots have formed but they are not strong cause I ve started just a few days ago. So, if I wash my hair, will these knots be un-tied again? Will they keep being there? What will happen. And should I use a hair drier? And should I wash my hair as often as before starting neglect? Thanks.

I know this is old, but hopefully you'll answer.. I already don't wash my hair to often, maybe every 5 days. My question is can I use dry shampoo on the roots if needed? Like I'm going somewhere and don't have time to wash them? I'm doing a bunch of research before I start my dread journey. I have bangs which aren't gonna be dreaded, so I'll use dry shampoo in that area. Will it cause any problems with the dreads?

So I created my dread locks yesterday on my own using the back comb method, but I feel as they are too loose at the root & towards the tips. I keep thinking I need to back comb it more lol. As I woke up today with a nest of messy hair & but they are still in shape towards the middle.. Will this be a problem for locking ? Should I back comb more or will they naturally tighten & separate near the roots still?

Can I use a medical shampoo like polytar? or is there any shampoos under £3 I could get in a shop, I can't use eBay or anything because of my mother

Question: With my few day old dreads I am wondering if putting some gel and or hairspray in would be a good idea. What would you say about that?
@LazyDreads9 жыл бұрын
raddom tutorials Gels, hairsprays and similar products are 'holding' products - they hold the hairs in a certain position for a certain style etc. While it's tempting to use them on dreadlocks to keep the hair 'held' in a more dreadlock-like way, it is not beneficial to the dreadlocks - 'holding' the hair in place stops the hair from being able to form new knots and progress. There may also potentially be issues with washing leftover products back out from inside the dreadlocks.

Hey Man your vids are dope af, I just started my locks beginning of April and I waited about 9 days, I'm wondering how often can I wash them since its been 2 days now since the first wash. In your vids you ask that the person wait and allow your scalp to learn not to produce so much oils as before deciding to get dreadlocks. But the thing is my whole head isn't dreadlocks, only a small portion of the front is regular fine Mexican hair so do i only wash it with my dreads using a dread shampoo that I recently bought? or Do i wash it separately everyday using like Dove Shampoo. I was rocking the man bun for a while so i do not have side hair just practically the top of my head only has hairs. I have about 30-40 dreads. HELP!
