while they played Terrapin Station on the 3rd anniversary of his death, I also think Waste and Somewhere Over the Rainbow were played to honor him as well...miss you Jerry

This show has some many goosebumps moments. Somewhere over the rainbow is so beautiful. Ngl i probably would’ve been balling my eyes out at this show, considering the history of it all.

This entire show was amazing and one of my all time favorate that I was lucky enough to see. I highly reccomend finding it and adding it to your collection. The somewhere over the rainbow after waste was just f ing beautiful.

And Terrapin brought me to tears (it could've been butchered and it still would've,and it wasn't butchered),I think that what a lot of younger fans don't get is that for the people who loved the Dead and saw Jerry,then mourned him when he died,but also remember when Phish was still a small band and watching them grow,this was an emotional night for sure

Best show I've ever seen,and I've been to Clifford Ball,most of 1997 tours and all of 1998 tours,etc. this show though,it SHINES

Mid late 90s were best for music. At so many levels. Still had Dead, barely- but Widespread Panic Phish Nirvana, plus scenes like Ozzfest and then Rap- East and West coast then; a lot better now but just variety was amazing. Plus Phish and Wisespread, Daed always $25. Was a great time to be alive. Internet sucked then, I remember trying to go to Best Buy.com and they had no website. Either did my College, Elon but things were Changing quickly. Never forgive myself for ‘92 highgate vt dead show; was 16 or so at the time and thought was a heavy metal band. Ha funny looking back on it now. Or forward whatever. Were always good shows at Walnut Creek in Carolina.

Out of the 50 or so shows, this 98 Va Beach was always my favorite. The encore just capped off an already amazing set list.

I was at this show, this is before the vb cops got all overzealous at the lots, but the show was amazing and the encore turned everyone into a sentimental quivering mass as everyone exited. A memory I will always cherish

This show is super special and for all the reasons everyone has said. I am Grateful AF to have been there. The psilocybin was the best additive for that evening, speaking for myself. This Waste is beautiful, soaring and stellar, the pinnacle of all of this songs' live performances, ever imho.

swotr was a completely random bust out but the encore was actually lady with a fan> terrapin station at which point the crowds collective jaw dropped and everyone was hugging. this was the 3rd anniversary of jerry garcia's death

that's when l looked at matt and he had his eyes completely closed and had a smile towards the sky. l knew right then l had me a friend for LlFE! l love you my man!

i mean..they played SPARKLE with no changes for the 4 millionth time. Now, I think Sparkle is a great tune in its own right, but anyone who'd rather hear Sparkle than Terrapin Station should just admit that they hate the Dead enough that they dont want Phish to cover it and make their audience melt into a pool of emotion.

lay off the crack dude. It was a solid show from top to bottom, but like Hampton 98, nothing particularly epic happened. Terrapin Station had several thousand people in TEARS. One of the most poignant moments of Phish's entire career trumps the two "Average Great" Summer 1998 sets fo sho. Take Va Beach 97, shoehorn in the Fee from 99 and the Bag & Terrapin Station encore from this guy and you got a pretty money show.

My favorite versions are this then 1992 x2 and 1994. The 2 in 1996 do not count because they are not guitar solos but vacuum solos and for me this beautiful song does not work played like HYHU Fishman or the I didn’t know version. It needs to be replayed. I was hoping for it on 8 25 23 along with the welcome to munchkin land. But while phish is still touring there is always tomorrow and time but Trey is right. He is running out of time
