LOL yeah! And you can tell the beers are full too... they pop when they hit the hopper.

I worked on Mack in the early 80's with a Leach packer, it was a good dependable truck, but like others said about the engine hump in the Cab, I didn't care for that either. But the Mack's drive really nice ! I test drove one a few months back , 2013 model with a New Way front loader packer body. Drove like a dream !

Yep.. they are collecting household garbage and bulk together. I believe that county gets separate recycling service too. The Waste Pro recyclers at the trans video was in the same county.

Glad you enjoyed it! They have a YT channel now.... if you see the Crestview Waste Pro vid... that's the shop that blindsided many drivers that I use to work with at WM and took a city contract.

Yer that was a nice surprise seeing the thing come into view and gradually get digested =] Cool some of the things that get thrown out, just sucks a camera isn't always on hand :/ A tail! lol

Here's one of those classic catches!!! Those are some mad shots; that first pick-up was awesome with all those glass bottles continuously clattering and then the basketball hoop getting chewed up gave it even more of an effect :) This truck's a real beast, absolutely massive (terriffic side shot at the beginning as well - the intro). Can't resist faving and 5*ing this... also another "awesome work" to you!

WOW! I guess you travel a lot! That New Way RL looks better than the WSPRO McNeiluses that I've seen in Bradenton!! It sure packed a mouth full of bulk with trash!!! If I can only find WSPRO'S RLs in action, then I'll be lucky!!! Awesome Footage, 5*, Keep up the Good Work!!!

Yeah those guys were nice! If I go back into the garbage industry to work for some one else, I'd seriously consider working for Waste Pro... they have really nice equipment.

Actually, I got really lucky... I saw the truck on the highway and thought "cool, a new truck" so I followed it into this neighborhood. I watched them for a few stops prior to this and there wasn't a whole ton out. I almost didn't want to film it. But when I saw this pile, I knew I had to get it on film, this was completely UNPLANNED! =) Right place, right time. After these few stops the rest of the neighborhood was normal with the regular 1 or 2 cans per house if anything was out.

It's ok... I removed the "removed by author" thing. I'll see what I can get, I'd like to return to that area to see the City of Ft. Pierce collect the very OLD carts they have - they have automated service so I'd like to see what they run. Also, I know there's another older Waste Pro Mack MR / New Way REL in the Orlando area - if I can ever find that truck again... I'll film it too. Thanks for the stars and the faves!!!

Yeah New Way looks like a cross between the newer Loadmaster and McNeilus to me.

You know KZfaq is always hungry for more! Gotta feed the beast. ;-) Actually... I'm doing the college thing right now... working on a business degree (getting a stronger understanding of the office side). I'm hoping to own a small fleet of trucks someday. But until the time's right... I'm shooting video and keeping track of the industry in my down time.

Seems like the McNeilus is the most common rear load body here. Followed by Leach and Heil for 2nd. Dempster, E-Z Pack, Pak-Mor, New Way, and Wayne aren't really that popular compared to the others. And Loadmaster seems to be popular with city government fleets (when they don't choose McNeilus, Heil, or Leach). I rarely see Loadmasters owned privately.

Thanks mate! Really glad you liked seeing this one! It's not often that we get to see a basketball hoop getting eaten.... I know I crushed several of them while I was working... I always like how they whip around while being packed - almost makes the truck look like it has a tail lol

@picklesrule69 There was a time that I thought like that... but then I learned that most people throw things out for a reason. Once in a while there are some really good things out in the trash, but I almost never keep any of it. I'll keep any money I find though. LOL

@junkertrucks When you asked this question a month ago I was completing a degree. Now I'm an employee at one of WM's competitors. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any hard feelings toward WM - they are a great company. I went with the competitor because they operate 5 days a week and WM operates 6 days a week in this area. i just wanted more time off.

I guess not. I know there were recycling trucks in the neighboring city, but I don't know if this area is covered by them on a different day.

Exactly...just want folks to know that rear loaders can't handle everything. They do have limitations like everything else. It seems most folks on here erroneously think a rear loader can take anything.

Yep a solid pole like that would stop ALL rear loaders. The blade would hit it and just stop on most newer trucks - I've done that with a Leach 2RII and pressure treated lumber.

@RaizenLegend Different places have different rules. When area's go to automated collection, that usually limits the material collected and it can be very frustrating for the people that live there. Many places in Florida still have all manual collection, and the crews will pretty much pick up anything at the curb.

I've packed a few myself... usually they flop around a lot more that this one did. It's still neat to see how quickly the truck can just fold it up.

Over in the Uk we have to recycle pretty much everything...it gets so annoying sometimes! Do you ever see stuff like that sofa and think "hmm that would look nice in my house?" cos it didn't look to bad!

NO limit! -- I know that has to be a pain. I've driven a recycling truck in the past and I've seen entire loads go to waste due to equipment failures and other issues... so I know there's a dark side to recycling... I can only imagine how many other loads the recycling plant rejects/wastes due to contamination and other variables.

What a waste of metal...should have been recycled. If the basketball support pole were the same size diameter as the packer cylinder and solid steel, vs hollow in his video, that would be an interesting thing to see. Of course it would be a hell of a lot heavier but I think it would stop the old McNeilus dead in its tracks.

@sonofadoodle Yeah... after picking up everyone's trash for a while, I will admit, we love to trash pretty much everything... it's really sad. Some places are requiring recycling, I know the city of L.A. has a strong recycling program.

Yeah, depending on whats in that pile... I'm sure most of it is garbage now... any paper and plastic is probably ruined. The glass and metal might be ok though. Either way it's sad to see how things get wasted like that... especially when there's sooo many people out there actually trying to recycle.
