I’m 62, born in 1961. Raised in a Baptist and Methodist household. When I was a child in the 1960s, my mother loved to watch the short clips of Bishop Sheen’s messages shown at the end of certain programs. She always talked about how she used to listen to his program back in the 1950s. I was baptized Presbyterian during college and confirmed in the Episcopal church. At 50, I converted to Catholicism. Adam, my brother-in-Christ, I encourage you to continue beyond the reconsidering of your biases against Catholicism. At this present time, Catholics are undergoing tremendous scandal and evil in her body, mainly from its clergy. You see, simply because some are in error, does not automatically compute to the entire priesthood being stained as well. Holy Mother Church is holy, yes indeed. It is her MEMBERS that are sinful, and there are many (in terms of numbers, Catholics are the highest number of Christians in the world). This is why these scandals are multiplied and focused more upon by the mainstream media. There is much beauty and awe about the church throughout her overt 2000 years in existence. She is always persecuted, many times very unjustly, but she welcomes it and offers it up to the Father in Heaven, following the lead of her Divine Savior and founder..... Our Lord Jesus Christ. Blessings to you brother.

MyNana - I think we can agree that Fulton Sheen was a good man, but he was not and is not God and to imagine that because your problems resolved as a result of 'praying' to him is very problematic in biblical terms. He was a very inspirational man and messenger from God but it's very worrisome that so many of his appreciators have elevated him to the position of God Himself! Fulton Sheen is now in the position of all the dead who 'know nothing' so I would ask you to reconsider your belief that you can pray to the dead!!!

@@evelynvanzale4757 I offer in charity that you have much to learn about the Catholic Faith, the Saints, and intercessory prayer. And you will not learn by listening to the same anti-Catholic opinions.

@@SuperIliad - I'm a born and bred Catholic (although would self-describe now as a Christian as opposed to a Catholic since this pope was the final straw for me!). I was well-schooled in relation to the church and its doctrine; however, since the bible states clearly that the dead are simply dead, I have a problem with the contradictions when it comes to 'intercessory prayer'. Of course, being from an Irish background, I was well used to the constant reference to the dead, but it was steeped in superstition and I took it with a pinch of salt so I think we'll have to agree to differ in this respect!
@SuperIliad4 жыл бұрын
@@evelynvanzale4757 You owe it to yourself to study the Fathers and Mothers of the Earliest Church; the Shepherd of Hermas, and the "Early Christian Fathers" (LCCN 72-123888), and to test the best Catholic minds and not accept what has been done to doctrine over time. You might pay heed to converts such as Steve Ray, Scott Hahn, John Bergsma, and others, who went past their prejudices and found deeper levels of Scripture they had never properly seen. Consider too that this besieged Church you left is besieged by Satan, as predicted, because it is the family Christ called together. Judas departed because the ecclesia was not taking the direction he saw as best. No, you’re not Judas, but we are all prone to say after Dante's chief demon, "Non serviam."

I am the same today in listening to him as I was back in my teens (the 50's)! What's so amazing is that every topic he touched on is still relevant today? Just like the Bible. Only the names and places change. Like me - I had to change. I thought going to Mass, making my Sacraments, minding my own business, and not breaking any laws was all I had to do? Little did I know that I needed to really understand the meaning of the Ten Commandments, and how to apply Scripture in my own life!

I'm a 'grateful recovering alcoholic' and have been for over 38 years, since I was miraculously 'born again' in a dungeon-like county jail, in the midwest U.S. back in '81. ☆ As a Protestant Evangelical whose former police record was cleared, far beyond the national averages of substantial numbers of individuals nearly 25 years ago in 1996. ☆ I just discovered Fulton J. Sheen a few years ago and most assuredly appreciate his insights, humor, manner of delivery, intelligence, courteous mannerisms, and decent vocabulary.

Yes, God loves you and I of who we are and He has proved it upon the Cross. But this is not merely about God; it is about how has you and I responded to His Unconditional Love by loving others as we, all, are called to do. As St. Paul has said, “ In Him we can do all things.” Let us trust in God and not in our strength.

Ana Quintana Hmm, a woman who makes her wishes known to strangers online in regards for her husband to give her flowers as opposed to going to her husband and communicating with him. No wonder men are disgruntled in many marriages today. Their wives blow up like a balloon forgetting what attracted their spouses in the first place.

brianplummy IDK about her wanting the male organ, ha. Anyway, my perspective on some of women who want a man and those that delude themselves thinking that the wedding ring is some powerful potion that will keep their man happy. My parents being European had French connections here in the US. I went to large picnic filled with both American and French families. I was overhearing the wives talking about keeping the weight off for their husbands despite being mothers. Well I thought that was awesome. They knew what was out there and also knew what it took to keep their man interested. There are American women that do the same, but sometimes they do it for just themselves.
