May 9 is a national holiday of former USSR to commemorate its victory in Great Patriotic War. At present time it is celebrated only in countries where government allows people to do so. It became very popular to re-write the history and change the role that former Soviet Union played in the WWII. At the same time I am glad that there are people all over the world who remember what price we paid in liberation of Europe from fascists in 40s of last century. Unfortunately we are still fighting with regenerated fascists in Ukraine. It makes May 9 even more important for everyone who understand the situation

Battle of Stalingrad was always commemorated from WW II. The Russian sacrifice from WW II is historical and commemorated. We in Bangladesh remember Russian and Indian contribution in 1971 Liberation War which ended with the liberation of Bangladesh. My uncle participated in WW II in British Indian Navy. My father participated in WW II in the jungles of Burma. My father received a scholarship to attend the Master's in Engineering in University of Illinois in Urbana-Champagne.

The Soviets (including Russians, Ukrainians, Bielorrussians, etc) lost 25 millions people, killed in that war... But they were the real victors, the ones who confronted the huge majority of the german divisions at the Easter Front... Hitler was defeated there, not in the second rate war against England or in the fields of France or North Africa. Therefore, the entire world has a debt of gratitude with the now deceased Soviet Union, and modern days Russia... However, people in the West have short memories... They are easily tricked by propaganda and prefer to close their eyes to the teachings of History. Today, the militia of Donbass, together with the fighters of the Russian Army, are fighting on their own land, where the combatants of Svyatoslav and Vladimir Monomakh, the soldiers of Rumyantsev and Potemkin, Suvorov and Brusilov fought the enemy, where the heroes of the Great Patriotic War - Nikolai Vatutin, Sidor Kovpak, Lyudmila Pavlichenko fought to the death. I am now addressing our Armed Forces and the Donbass militia. You are fighting for the Motherland, for its future, so that no one forgets the lessons of the Second World War. So that there is no place in the world for executioners, punishers and Nazis. Today we bow our heads before the bright memory of all whose lives were taken by the Great Patriotic War, before the memory of sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, grandfathers, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends.
