Watch again as Rishi Sunak faced Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, 24 January, after a senior Tory called for his resignation.
Sir Simon Clarke, who served in the Treasury while the now-prime minister was chancellor, said that Mr Sunak "is leading the Conservatives into an election where [they] will be massacred".
"If we change the leader to a prime minister who shares the instincts of the majority and is willing to lead the country in the right direction, we will recover strongly in 2024," the MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland wrote in the Telegraph.
Other senior Tories have warned against more damaging infighting before the public go to the polls this year.
Home secretary James Cleverly said it would be “foolish” to have further dissent within the party, arguing that it would leave the door open to Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour party.
Former defence secretary Ben Wallace echoed Mr Cleverly in dismissing Sir Simon’s call to oust Mr Sunak.
"Division and another PM would lead to the certain loss of power," he said.

The army is struggling and has been struggling to recruit since 2012 when they forcibly made thousands of fully trained, qualified soldiers redundant. I left a year later as they stole my pension, so this is the reason for this retention problem . TORIES once again with their cuts and now our country is unable to defend itself .

I've been extra frustrated with politicians lately, so this display popping up in my feed and then being so unapologetically trashy was enough to make me comment for the fourth time on youtube, the first being 13 years ago. Thanks for clearing it up though! I guess if they can somewhat limit this to once per week, it may even let the rest of the week be slightly more constructive. I'm at least a bit reassured that it's not what it seemed!

You don't have to go back before my existence was illegal so frankly anyone who cannot treat me with respect will NEVER get my vote. He doesn't have to believe it himself but in the UK we are tolerant of other people. If he committed to immediately undoing the new school guidance on trans students then I'd begin to trust him but he hasn't. I'd also like to point out there is plenty of stats to show outing trans kids to their parents is a sure fire way to get them to unalive. Dead kids is not a difficult argument to make and the fact he isn't is OBSCENE!
