It's so bad. My 12 year old niece is on Snapchat and has been told she's absolutely not allowed to add people she doesn't know. But even so, she added a stranger her friends had added (and told her mom she thought she knew him and that he said he was 14), and this man sent her a d*ck pic, which freaked her out. But this guy was chatting with all her friends too. Even kids who have had it drilled into their heads to be careful do dumb things and get preyed upon. I told my niece that just because a strange boy you meet online sends pictures of themselves and says he is a teen, does not mean he is. They send fake pictures and pretend to be teens.

I would also add that video games is a place ripe for older adults to have contact with younger people. I almost fell down this rabbit hole myself, thankfully I had a family member warn me. You have to be really careful about who you talk with, the information that gets shared, and the possible connection people make with each other in a digital world. Things you would never say in person, or even do, are much easier when your anonymous and feel you won't get caught or no one will know what your doing. Even things that start out seemingly innocent can quickly turn to a dark and scary place. There is absolutely no reason why an adult should be talking with or connecting with a minor, especially online where parents cannot monitor the situation. I also had a thought while watching this, and that is how will Artificial intelligence be able to help the police prevent, prosecute, and expose this type of behavior. Thank you O.U.R for all you.

I tried to explain to my now 9 year old daughter the dangers of the internet and she flat out told me that no one can lie about who they are online... I learned the hard way several times at 11-18 that the people online could be anyone and they will say anything and as a vulnerable child looking for love you believe that they care about you ugh only once I became an adult I learned, I spent many many years trying to drown out those memories and I'm 30 now. I cringe sometimes when I think of those same things happening to my children 😢 we have banned screen time at home

I went to our local police and some of them said they didn't know what to do. One guy out of 5 told me to report it to the FBI. I call the FBI hotline and never received a call back. It wasn't even on my local polices radar. They acted like it was no big deal.

When I was 12 I had Kik, I barely remember what happened on there but I know I was talking to adults on there and I know that inappropriate pictures were sent to me and I was asked for them as well. I was depressed and felt like these people were my friends. Please, talk to your children

Great advice. It was hard for us my teen daughter was addicted to her ipad and social media. We put all parental security on it and she managed to work out getting it off, we blocked social media apps and discovered she downloaded other apps. We confiscated her phone she would go into rages physical violent rages at us. At 14 she was strong and taller than me. I had to call the police on her. We disconnected the internet she bought her own internet on her phone, we confiscated her phone she ran away from home. Her school counsellor told her we are being controlling by taking her phone which is abusive. Police said they couldn't bring her home if she didn't feel 'safe' being at home..she was safe she just wanted unrestricted access to her phone and she didnt care if she lived somewhere else as long as she got that. I tried getting her into a youth camp for troubled addicted teens but there wasn't anything. At 18 she moved interstate. Still addicted to her phone and social media. Problem was also at 13 in year 7 her teachers told us the students have to have a device (ipad, laptop) at school. It was hell ans we lost her.

Honestly, as a teen girl this is why I've never downloaded any of these apps, this is my worst fear and I'm just scared of this. My mom has always taught me to never talk to someone you don't know in real life. The only people I text are my friends which are my classmates, as well as other people from my school. And it's hard because I'm online schooled so all my conversations is on a call/text, and I do use discord to do that. I've actually had a predator message me on discord and I'm not dumb so immediately I blocked him an reported his account, and they actually found his account and banned it, but idk if he's still out there on a different account, and idk how many more children these predators are going to hurt. I just couldn't stand seeing my best friend being hurt by an online predator, so I wouldn't understand what it'd be like to have that happen to your own child

Currently there’s a pedophile on Skype that repeatedly has been remaking Skype accounts and keeps messaging me and my friends… we’re in seventh grade. He sends them weird photos and I’ve blocked so many of his accounts. My friend joined a call with him and he was a middle aged man. If someone could give advice, I could use it, because he’s threatened to track my friend and I don’t know what to do and I searched videos like this because I’m just kind of concerned

According to experience you need to start with school as this is where it normally begins, teachers and administers and line level workers. They will act as spotters for the trackers and clients etc. They will do other things to weaken the target child also called bullying etc. Anyone around or has access to children by profession needs a real closer look. Most abusers are known to the child & the parents including relatives look there first.

I was one single parent that knew exactly where her children were, didn't let them have sleepover dates , and stopped an online child predator from talking to her daughter. As a father, and former step-father of grown children who used the internet for school and socially, I earned the right to have an opinion. Commenters who are not parents have not earned anything, but most often are the most opinionated. It's like telling an auto mechanic how to fix your car or truck, when you never worked on one. I'm not writing to mothers, because I'm not one. This is for Dads, Step-Dads, Men. Parenting is always on the job training, and doing it right takes practice and time. Time and letting your children know that you care about them are the critical ingredients. Time and love, expressed in compassion, will cover a multitude of mistakes. Everything else is secondary, everything else depends on those two things, time and expressing love through compassion.

We need people praying to get wounded parents and children the right help so they are diverted to the right help instead of pawns for the criminal portals thAt lead to some very wealthy & powerful people!

My little sister is 13 years old, and I am 19. Despite the fact that all of her schoolmates have social media accounts, I made sure to not let her be apart of this digital world. Instead, she communicates using WhatsApp with my dad, me, and her close friends, all of whom I have personally met and know. I believed she was safe without social media, and I didn't feel the need to check her phone regularly. However, I noticed a change in her behavior she became increasingly isolated, constantly using her phone to exchange messages with a new girl from her class, someone I hadn't met before. One day I decided to review their chat history and was shocked to discover the negative influence this girl had on my sister. She was using offensive language and sharing TikTok videos, and even introduced her to an app called Zepeto, which seemed innocent at first but turned out to be used for inappropriate purposes such as online dating and private, questionable chat rooms. I confronted my sister and urged her to delete the app and block that friend. Surprisingly, she agreed without hesitation and she confessed that deep down, she felt her friend's influence was negative too but she found it difficult to break away. I also advised her not to share her phone number with anyone and to only communicate with her close friends whom I know personally and trust. From that day on I check her phone regularly and she is entirely fine with it as I ve made it clear to her that my seemingly strict approach is driven by an extremely deep sense of care as I care for her more than anyone else, and it is my responsibility to watch out for her . Sometimes I give her my own KZfaq account to watch videos and sometimes I let her watch funny reels with me and I always make sure to advise her about how to choose her friends wisely and to Inform her about the dangers of some apps
