Lol, once a cop rang my doorbell (Netherlands though) and I answered the door. First thing the dude in uniform said to me was: Please, don't be scared. I looked down to him (I'm a head taller than this dwarf) and said: I'm not impressed by a LEO, what can I help you with? Someone jumped of the roof of the condo I lived in and they just wanted to know if I heard anything. So yeah, sometimes it doesn't hurt to talk to the police. It was quite a mess at the bottom floor though, the guy went straight through the roof of the entrance. Mission accomplished for 100%.

This isn't investigating. It's fishing. Investigating is finding evidence to substantiate a claim. They aren't doing thier job. This is lazy policing, attempting to violate her rights along the way. I had sheriffs show up at my home looking for my ex husband, because they had a warrant for him…I told them no, you’re not allowed to come in my home without a warrant! The thing of it was, is they argued with me for 45 minutes and I said “no, you’re not going to scare our child, who was around 4 or 5 at the time! I told them that he wasn’t there, and as a matter of fact, we just came from visiting him…in PRISON! But how come yawl didn’t LOOK THAT UP BEFORE COMING TO MY HOUSE?!!?

My only criticism of the home owner is she talked a little too much. Never talk to the police. It can't help. Ever. Regardless, bravo! Make them go get a warrant. Never consent to a search.

She shouldn’t have even opened the door, some cops put their feet in the door and if you close it on them, it’s battery on an officer and she’s locked up and her kids are taken to protective services. Don’t even open the door, talk through the door or don’t talk at all.
