bought my first ever watch last month... it's a 280$ Dan Henry 1962 Racing Chronograph... it came with 1 extra leather strap a leather folding bag where you can store 3 straps or 3 watches on your travels..i also paid 80$ extra for a stainless steel bracelet... i'd say it feels and looks more expencive than other watches you see in shoping centers at that price range... love it

I got a Citizen Nissan Fairlady Z watch from Nissan HQ on a business trip and I love it. It has great function super light as its Titanium and a little over 1k with duty free.

I just bought my first ever nice watch. I went with the khaki field mechanical. It is undoubtedly the best watch for around $500. Swiss-made, mechanical, sapphire crystal, tons of legacy and heritage. Unbeatable for the money.

I got automatic from Vostök, Orients, Citizens, Tissot and planning to add more budget automatics.

Can you go over the Swatch history of Breguet? Seems like they had a decade or so under the first Hayek where they were pretty impressive. Even if it stole the movement from Blancpain, the Reveil du Tsar is awesome. The big date Marine and the previous generation type 20s seem to have been successful. The crazy magnetic chronometer seems to be awesome too. When/how did it go downhill to where it is today?

You can definitely get quality pieces in the $1000 and under price point. I have a Hamilton Day Date, Baltic aquascaphe, Squale Militaire ( a little over $1k), and am waiting for my Vaer A5 tactical to arrive in mail

Hey Nico, long time viewer, what do you think about tissot chemin des tourelles? It is powermatic 80 just like prx, but I find it a bit underrated, and that's why I chose it over prx od le locle.

I own several Tissots, but not the PRX. People do not realize how large and great their catalog is for under 1k, like the Gentleman, the LeLocle, and my favorite the Couturier line, they even have several COSC certified Chronographs for under 1000. Also in that category the Mido Commander and Oceanstar, and Hamilton Field and Railroad lines. Swatchgroup has some of the best budget automatic lines out there, and really good quality and classy looking.

My G-Shock GAB2100 models are my favorite, gotta give it to Nico for getting me into watches

My wife owns a Tag Heuer link quartz with diamond indexes and mother of pearl dial. I wanted to buy her a proper luxury automatic but she refused. She even had me returned a beautiful Tissot heart automatic that I wanted to gift her. She got on with the Swatch craze and owned 3 variants. This Mother’s Day, I bought her the 38mm ladies cream dialed with ceramic bezel speedmaster which she appreciated.

I tell you what! The Tissot Porto collection is the most underrated Tissot. An absolutely gorgeous piece, I urge you to look them up.

I must say I had the opportunity to purchase a PRX recently but ended up getting the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Open Heart and I think it’s better than the PRX.

Always like the PRX galaxy from Tissot, unfortunately they came in limited quantities and I wasnt able to get my hands on one (yet)

Here in Vancouver, within a block and half of each other, we have Cartier, Panerai, JLC, Vacheron, Rolex, Tudor, Chopard, a couple jewelers that sell multiple brands, and Hublot. Oddly, I've never seen a customer in Hublot. 🤔

I agree with him, but how is a Panerai 'homage' really any different than the COUNTLESS brands that essentially just produce Rolex Submariner/GMT 'inspired' models that share the exact same basic design? Where do you draw the line? I mean, even many of those ZODIACs don't look much different than Rolex dive watches? Like I was looking at Panerais ten years ago at the peak of their popularity. Luckily I decided against buying a huge a $4K+ 46mm+ watch with a generic ETA movement. However I still love the look of their 'Sandwich Dial', but I don't see many other options with that feature, other than homages ?

I would absolutely love it if Nico did some content on Christopher Ward and told us what he thought of their models. I'm shocked to see that he doesn't give them more press, they're an amazing company.

The interesting thing is that the PRX's movement is kind of crap. Tissot makes similar watches with their high accuracy quartz movement for about the same price. But as Nico noted, nobody notices the other 50 models they sell. The way to spot them is to check if they have 3 or more jewels (vs the standard 2) in their quartz movement or list "Heavydrive". I have one in my collection and it's accurate to about 2 seconds a month. The Powermatic 80 is.. meh as a movement.
