Ever wonder how a custom emergency vehicle is made? We’re going to show you!
We’re highlighting a TYPE I 12 ft. EMS Vehicle that we’ve just finished building for the Houston Fire Department!
The Houston Fire Department holds a special place in Frazer’s family of customers. HFD helped design and test Frazer’s first generator-powered EMS Prototype in 1982.
Since then, Frazer has built over 165 EMS vehicles for the department. The most recent batch was built in 2019 and includes 15 EMS vehicles.

Wow! So the the exterior door and compartment jams are 3m taped onto the already 3m taped on wall skins. It looked as though the walls and roof structures are prefabbed, Insulated, and almost finished before they are constructed together. How do you tig weld the walls to the floor structure and ceiling once you have already prefabbed with insulation and inner wall materials before erecting the module? It looked as though the box was 3m tapped together. Where can I go to see your current crash testing documentation and certificates such as CAAS, GVS, etc..?

Are the skins just tapped on? No welding? How is that going to hold up in a crash?

So is there Actual welds holding on the side and top outer skin of the box or is it just 3M tape

Hey Charles, thanks for the question! The side walls, base frame, and ceiling are all welded together to create an incredibly strong body. The aluminum outer skin is attached to the structural frame with the same 3M very high bonding (VHB) tape seen in this video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/icWWgJiU1rmzdJc.html Our module construction has been tested and certified to the most current industry standards.
