White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is delivering a press briefing Monday afternoon.
It is the first briefing to follow a busy weekend.
In a live address from the Oval Office on Sunday night, President Biden implored the nation to reject violence in the wake of the assassination attempt against former President Trump.
The two presidents spoke by phone Sunday, as did first lady Jill Biden and former first lady Melania Trump. The president later stated, “I’m sincerely grateful that he’s doing well and recovering.”
Biden said the FBI is leading the investigation into the shooting. He ordered a review of Secret Service protections for the Republican National Convention as it opens in Milwaukee.
The White House briefing is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Why is it ok to have barbed wire around the capitol building, the white house and many other government buildings but it is "inhumane" to put barbed wire around our border? They always protect themselves from the people. They don't care if the people are ever protected. (Open borders)

Secretary again you expose your true motive. It is not as important that the american people have confidence in this independent review, as it is that this review is independent. The confidence of the american people in your review is should not be your goal, but rather getting to the truth should be your goal and our confidence in it should be because it rings true, not because it has the appearance of independence. I would rather have a true honest review that rings true, then an independent review that does not. I hear this rhetoric from government all The Time, talking about how the American people need to have confidence in what the government does rather than talking about how what the government does needs to be credible, believable, true and honest. You are more concerned with our confidence. In what you do, then you are in being true. You simply got it backwards and there's a reason why you got it backwards.
