I'm a huge fan of Laika, and I was ecstatic when I got to visit their studio last month in Portland for the release of their latest animated film, The Boxtrolls. For those who haven't seen the film, it's about a young orphaned boy named Eggs (Isaac Hempstead Wright) who is raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors who he must save from evil exterminator Archibald Snatched (Ben Kingsley).
During my visit, I met with Laika CEO, producer and animator Travis Knight (click here for the full interview), Director of Rapid Prototyping Brian McLean and Visual Effects Supervisor Steve Emerson (click here for the full interview), Creative Supervisor of Puppet Fabrication Georgina Hayns, and Costume Designer Deborah Cook. They all had fascinating things to say about the movie, and this video shows some of the details that went into crafting The Boxtrolls.

This looks like a fun movie! And when the lady apologized to the stop motion girl,I'm sure,if she could talk, would probably say "It's ok! People are doing this and worse to me on line!" XD

I cant believe they make one movie about one character and it takes bout one year to make a movie and they could just make a number 2 bout there old characters

One of their missions is to create new and unique stories that people aren't used to seeing. I think that's why they haven't done any sequels of their already successful characters.

NAVEEN KUMAR if you have footage of the background, it's pretty easy to stick it on top of the rig, making it seem as if there is nothing there.
