This brings back memories of stealth camping around the Bromley area when I also worked nights. I found half a dozen parks and used to alternate them. I had the advantage of a 4 on 4 off working pattern so I would not revisit a spot for 8 to 10 days. I am now in St Albans and you filled up with LPG at the same garage I use. I have a permanent pitch on a campsite so my nomad days are behind me for the time being.

@TheUrbanMotorhome
@TheUrbanMotorhome 5 жыл бұрын
Oh man, it makes sooooooo much difference, the amount of heat lost through the cab is crazy! Another top tip with the sheet is put it down when your on a long drive and want to warm the cab, the air vents can heat that small space no problem but without the sheet the heat is lost into the motorhome. 👍👍😀😀

Great videos fella. Just recently made redundant, now working 100 miles from home on 12 hours shifts, incl nights. Been wondering about a motorhome as I am paying a fortune in hotels so could easily offset the cost of finance! Great to see you living in one, and living well, even on night shifts. How many days do you find you can stop out for without visiting a campsite for water/hook up power? Wondering if I could do a full shift...

Maps showing the shapes of the roads are helpful victorian roads are usually named streets or roads and straight, more modern estates 1920s 1930s tend to be curved roads. Retirement areas like seasides have a lot of elderly people.

Great video. Good tips. I do have issue with the idea of parking in housing estates? That is, when you parked up (I assume in school time), how do you know if you're not going to be parked right next to a corner of a street where it might be a notorious spot for gangs of unruly youths? Might cause you some problems? Of course, not all youths are problems, but where I used to live years ago, you wouldn't want to park a motorhome there otherwise you'd probably get a brick through the window for nothing! That was the mentality of them in that area at the time. Sad I know. We are going full time Motorhome living this year, and we intend on boondocking out in the country. Not only a 'bit' safer, but also a nicer environment. :) Keep up the great vids mate, you deserve to have all the support on KZfaq. Nice one.

Hi mate, thanks for the kind words and comments. To be 100% honest with you, you can't tell 100% that's not going to happen. There are things that you can look for though that would give you a better look into things, still not 100% but something more than just blindly parking. Looking at the potential parkup, look at the area as a whole, is it clean and tidy, and little, graffiti, what are peoples front gardens like, does it look more like a older community or younger, what type or cars are in the area, are more than one damaged, how are the cars parked...nice and neat or dumped, what are the bus stops like, clean and working or smashed? All these things added up will tell help you decide if its a good area to park or not. Great, I bet you can't wait to go full time, your gonna love it! If your ever down this way or need any help just drop me a message 👍👍😀😀

I'd really like to give motorhome life a try, I live in Michigan so it can get pretty cold in the winter and pretty hot in the summer here, my biggest concern is the condensation and humidity inside the motorhome, does it get pretty bad? I work a swing shift as well that changes weekly, but my workplace has a shower and washing/drying machines luckily, so I've got my bases covered there. I really like the idea of paying for a motorhome rather than just renting out some cheap apartment.
@TheUrbanMotorhome
@TheUrbanMotorhome 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah you have proper winter weather over there don't you, not like our poor attempt over here haha. Regarding condensation the only real place I get it is a the front of the MH where the cab is because of all the glass/cold outside and the heat ive got going in the body of the motorhome. Last summer the humidity did get up there inside the motorhome and I was trying to sleep in the day which was hard, but I've to a roof fan and other fans, windows open, it was ok, not heaven but not hell haha

"Polite Parking" yeah that's a good proportion of the reasoning of where to park.

I really think a "Motorhome" draws too much attention where ever you park up.... Personally I would build out a stealth camper in a sprinter LWB high top white van then you would have much more choices.... However the place you did choose in this video was a great spot and it would be one of mine I would rotate too once every few days

Where do you get most of your power from ? The batteries ? How long do they last on a full charge , with normal usage , ie watching a bit of tv, charging phone etc ? Thanks
