I’d recommend you use the straight edge alpha technique. On the last string of your doing backward knots do a backward forward knot to finish the row do another one to start the next row. On the mast string of the row of your doing forward knots you would do a forward backward knit twice to finish the row and start the next.

Hi :) thanks for the recommendation. I’ve known about the straight alpha for a while now but honestly I don’t prefer it 😭 I really love the way it looks without it.

Question if my pattern has 50 pixel squares from left to right would that mean i would need 25 base cords to start the project, or could i just start the project with 50 base cords anyways peace and thanks if you answer
