The one thing I certainly love about Hema Malini is she never gave up her mother tongue, Thamizh, which she ended up teaching her child, Esha. Oh! btw, Esha's tamil was beyond the expectation I had when i saw her for a promotional event in Chennai. She even dubbed her own voice for the movie, Yuva in Tamil which apparently is her first and last till date. This is how you carry the legacy forward. God bless Hema, Esha, Ahana, and Dharmendra..

Thanks for an amazing candid interview. Mazaa aa gaya. I’ve one story to share about Hema Ji. She had come to San Francisco in mid-seventies to perform in her show. During the intermission my mom, my brother and I managed to go behind the stage to hopefully to meet her but most likely to get a closer glimpse of her. So there I was standing few feet behind her and my brother was standing few feet in front of her ready with his camera to capture her on film. There she was in all her glory and I stretched out my hand to motion my brother to click the camera and the moment I did that she suddenly moved a step backwards closer to me and my left hand landed on her shoulder. She instantly turned around and glared at me with her big beautiful eyes to see who dared to put his hand on her shoulders. I was only eleven years old at that time and I just melted faster than an ice cream. I was just awed by her beauty and her presence. I was totally floored. And credit to my brother, he also clicked instantaneously and I’ve that moment frozen in that photograph. That moment is so fresh in my mind, I could relive it instantly.

I'm not sure but I think the film Hema ji got rejected from is "Vennira aadai" because the director thought Hema was very young and the role was a complex role and it was done by Jayalalitha ji..It was her first tamil film.
