Explanation: (Pls pin) Okay so basically this is from the movie hunger games which is based on the book. The year before this scene Katniss (the girl with brown hair) volunteered at the reaping in place of her sister prim. (The reaping is where they chose the tributes for the games) During the games she “fell in love” with the blonde boy Peeta. There could only be one winner of the games but peeta and katniss both won after attempting to kill themselves. The president was mad about this so for the games for the next year he decided for the 75th hunger games (third quarter quell) should have the tributes be the previous victors. I think Effie really was a rebel in her own sense. She has much more depth for a district person than anyone in the capital, and really wanted Katniss and Peeta to have a good life. ❤

For anyone who doesnt know this is teh Hunger Games. Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen were in the lazt hunger games and they survived(there are no winners, just survivors) Katniss made a deal with Haymitch not to let Peeta die. Peeta made the same deal with Haymitch. Peeta said that he didnt need anyone during the games but Katniss needs him.

Effie was trying so hard to not cry. When she finally broke down and saying that they deserve better. Effie honestly had such great character development not wanting to see the people she cared about go through something they already have gone through before knowing that the chances of them coming back alive wouldn't likely happen again thay they would both possibly end up dead or hoping at least one would come back alive.

This scene broke Effie, and that broke me.

Everyone deserved better especially effie no one ever talked or even thought abt her pain of her life, job, guilt anything at all!!! She deserves better

I don’t wanna spoil it for y’all but the moment he did that EVERYTHING went wrong.

Short explanation: There is this sick tv show the government produces, where they have a boy and girl from each town in their district fight until their deaths. Once someone wins, they’re supposed to be safe for life, but this brunette girl embarrassed the president of the country and became a symbol of rebellion. So they changed the rules and announced this year the contestants would be out of all the past winners. The brunette girl is the only girl winner from her town, so she must go. She has a deep friendship, maybe even love for the blonde boy, and she is hoping he would not go with her. But the blonde boy loves her, and since his name wasn’t called and he is also a winner he has a chance to volunteer and override the vote, so he can be with her and fight in the games.

effies trauma is overlooked

There was a moment of relief for Katina’s when haymitch was called and then that immediately vanished as soon as peeta volunteered bc she wanted him to be safe ❤😢

Effie is one of my fav characters. In the first movie, you can tell that she doesn’t think too much about what she’s doing, and seems almost happy doing it. Over the next movies you can see she realises it’s wrong and starts to feel more guilt. That’s character development right there.

I love the Hunger games so much! Effie is so underrated it’s obvious that she really loves Katniss and Peeta! I’m in the middle of reading mockingjay right now! And I believe it’s one of the best written book series ever

This is the movie “The Hunger Games” you have to be between the ages 12-18 I believe to be called. The white haired woman(Effie) draws random names and whoever is called must participate. Katniss and Peter were in the games before with Haymitch as their mentor. Usually they only have to participate once but in the first games they were in Katniss and Peeta fooled the government making them angry. There was a quarter quell where basically anyone (living) that participated and won in the games had to participate. Katniss knew she was going to be it because she’s the only living female of district twelve to survive and she hoped that Peeta would be called first so Haymitch could volunteer. It didn’t go as planned and Peeta volunteered to protect Katniss

The character design for Effie is based off of her loyalty and closeness to the capital. In this scene she is covered in monarchs whom are carnivorous and here they (the monarchs representing the capital) are eating Effie.
