How do i help my brother going through second divorce ? he is contemplating suicide and is getting his house in order to check out! He is not a Christian i believe.

Pray and be with him as best you can. Have him try speaking to someone.

@@jime6353 Thank you. He has been in this condition for 9 months now with final divorce sometime in November. Extremely negative and very hard to get through to. Drinking beer heavily with anti-depression drugs. Keeps him in a depressed mode all the time. I will be trying to get men's group together (mostly family men who are Christians) who can meet with him, eat with him, pray with him, take him shopping, etc. Something has to work soon or he may jump ship. Thanks for your clear advice.

Wow this is so misogynistic. As a single mom who is Catholic, with an ex that is not, I looked this up because I want to try to teach my son what it means to be the head of his household as a Catholic man. Didn’t expect this.

I really do appreciate the intent, but the reality of telling people that their mental ills are already won by Christ is dangerous folly. Mind you, I'm not saying Christ's victory is folly, but that real life mental problems and illness can't be just washed away by positive thoughts, acceptance, however you want to turn the phrase. Would that were true, I wouldn't have spiraled into several suicide attempts and allowed my sons to follow in my dangerous footsteps. And don't you dare utter such a phrases as "you didn't have enough faith/you didn't pray hard enough/it's your fault" etc. etc. etc. You don't get to blame victims.
