You should check out Words Darker Than their Wings live at the Royal Albert Hall and you will see how high Myles is capable of going. The finest voice in rock music in the last 30 years.

Myles Kennedy has a huge range vocally. He is absolutely Incredible!! I bet you you would love their (Alter Bridge) songs "Open your eyes", "In Loving Memory" and "Broken Wings". Hope you react to them. The singer's name is Myles Kennedy and the group's name is Alter Bridge. Mark Tremonti ( he's in Alter Bridge) is an Awesome guitarist too. These guys have so much talent!

Myles has such an amazing voice. Another great acoustic song to check out would be “In Loving Memory” (live acoustic). A song written by Alter Bridge’s guitarist after the death of his mother.

I think you're right on both accounts of drug addiction or narcissistic behavior, I do dedicate this to my son who lost his life from drug addiction, and I do also relate to this song with my ex of 18 years, but either way it's a beautiful song and I love Myles Kennedy. One of the greatest voices ever. Funny with the planes, I'm guessing you're in Queens and dealing with JFK or a might be totally wrong LOL

Wow, Jayy, I've seen a quite a few reactions to this song and you're the first to completely nail the meaning. This was written about a friend who was suffering a serious drug addiction. Despite years of support from Myles and others and many broken promises from the friend he never beat the addiction. In the end, Myles just couldn't stay and watch his old friend continue to kill himself. It effected Myles greatly at the time, and having seen him perform this song many times, I think it still does. I would recommend watching a couple of Alter Bridge performances, namely, "Blackbird"(Wembley show) and "Word Darker Than Their Wings" (Royal Albert Hall show), both superb songs, emotional and powerful.

I'd recommend the Amsterdam version of Blackbird myself, although the Wembley version has Myles sharing personal information about the song's origin, plus a tribute to the Beatles version of Blackbird too.

@@josephpalazolo1699 he doesn’t have the guitar, he borrowed it for the live performance of Hallelujah. He wanted to buy it off Matt who had the guitar but he wouldn’t sell it. He then went on to sell it to Matt Bellamy of Muse. It’s a shame Myles didn’t end up with it!

Song was written by the guitarist in Altered Bridge. Its about his mom. She'd always taken care of him, put up with his struggles with addiction and mental illness. When she found out she was dying her only worry was for her son: "Who's gonna watch over you when I'm gone?"
