Taylor is an expert in her field of songwriting, and has managed to craft the English language into musical pieces that resonate with individuals around the globe. In addition to her songwriting expertise, her philanthropy also showcases her empathy & dedicated commitment as a global citizen. In light of her incredible success due to her unbridled talent, it’s resoundingly clear why she has received a honorary doctorate degree.

I love that someone successful and beloved by many pointed out this ridiculous unspoken rule to not be so excited and enthusiastic about your dreams and what you like and just go through life being effortlessly cool I love that after all the recognitions she had, she’s still relatable and human. And I haven’t heard graduation speeches talking about those cringe moments that i feel like is secretly bothering everyone. Admittedly going through my own cringey moments over and over again is destroying my self esteem and I’ve looked for advice on how to stop my brain from going through this again and again but nothing worked. She reminded me that everyone (and even someone like taylor swift) misspoke, got deceived and made poor decisions at some points in their life and thats normal.

This came at such a perfect time for me. I'm in the class of 2022, however, I'm graduating from community college with an associates' degree while all my friends from high school are graduating with a bachelors this year. The thing is though, I'm still young, and at 21 years old I'm not ready to decide on a major because I still have no idea what my long term career goals are and what path I want to follow. But Taylor's speech brought me so much comfort and helped me realize that just because I may be a little behind my peers in terms of my education, that doesn't mean I'm destined for failure. And for anyone in the same boat, I'm sure you'll find your way too. Thank you Taylor, you've been my favorite artist ever since I first heard Love Story at 8 years old and you always will be ❤️

You're not behind. In a few years, it won't matter and less so, in more years after that. As an older person, my advice (and not too far from Taylor's) is listen to your gut instinct. It'll tell you what to do and where to go. ALTHOUGH do try to be wise about it. Your gut will tell you that too. Try to take as many opportunities that come your way as you can. If some don't exactly feel right for whatever reason, then move on. Works for jobs and for relationships. Do try to give something or someone a chance however, and don't give up at the first sign of struggle or hardship. Real life is hard and unfortunately, doesn't get easier as we get older BUT we do get wiser! Just try to make the wise choices which also means oftentimes not making rash emotional decisions. This is most important too when it comes to money. Anyway, you'll figure it out and get there eventually. Good luck!!

Hopefully doing CC you are not in six figure debt like your peers. Post secondary is just pricing itself out of the market. It makes no sense to do university and blow big money on it if you have no idea how to pay it off in a career. All the best for you in the future.

@@LaurenLaass As a writer and fellow "person in the arts," this is the reason why I find it hard to encourage young people to pursue the arts in college. On the side, as a hobby, go for it! But realistically speaking, if you're just gonna put in a couple tens of thousands of $ into a bachelor's degree then make sure it's one that'll pay off as a career eventually. And unfortunately, a degree in the arts doesn't always cut it. If you can get a scholarship then that's a different story. But if you have to go into massive debt, it may not be worth it. Having said that, good luck to you and your theater career! I'm sure you're great in it. I ended up working for the city library and no longer write for a living. It's just a more stable job overall.

Her wisdom resonates with me right now. Turning 30 on the 27th this month… I left my job three months ago then my boyfriend of seven years broke up with me a month later. I have no prospects these days and I’m falling deep into that rabbit hole. But I am trying to pick myself back up now and this was what I needed to hear. Thank you, Taylor.

We swifties needs to stop calling out for hater or act like it is something new. Dude, it's been happening to Taylor ever since she started her career. When she wins something or when she losses something, people always has something to say about her. Just gulp it down fellow swifties, it's pointless to say anything to those haters.

That was an amazing heart to heart mindful speech . She points out what we have all gone through ..or will go through in our life times. We will have ups and downs, but instead of turning to paths that can cause destruction in one way or another…may it be a bad choice or an bad memory, we NEED to pay attention and LEARN from what life hands us. Many Blessings and heartfelt wishes to all those who go through any life decisions…..may we all learn, grow and blossom into what will be the BEST versions of ourselves that we can be.

Inspiration for the day: Taylor gets an honorary Doctorate and, with candor and grace, shows why she's a sterling role model for young and old. Commencement speeches are rarely touching and funny, as well as wise.

Wow I love her! Her speech was so good! I'm trying to figure if she memorized it? It always drives me crazy when the speaker reads from a piece of paper, it feels so ingenuine. Her speech felt like she was actually speaking to me.

as someone who just spoke at their graduation ceremony, I read from a speech because I have absolutely terrible memory and social anxiety... had to practice like 10+ times so it sounded right.
@Gracekay7
@Gracekay7 2 жыл бұрын
@@tm-te9mh that's amazing! I'm sure you did an amazing job! I also have terrible anxiety and I woulda been scared to the core. My comment was based on any speech in general not just graduation. Even at church if the pastor reads a homily/sermon they wrote it feels very scripted. I took a speech class in college where we were able to have our piece of paper with us but we weren't allowed to read from it we could only glance. It was terrifying, we weren't even allowed to have a podium to hold on for dear life! But it was amazing delivering my speech it was exhilarating and liberating giving a speech is not easy in the slightest!
