I’m in Scottsdale going through my initial type rating. You nailed my emotions how I feel right now. 2nd sim was today. Was told I did ok but slow with check lists! It’s brutal and I’m trying to push through

Do Companies and airlines pay for the type rating training and provide the certificates once hired or do you need to pay for and obtain the type rating yourself before applying to these companies/airlines?

One thing to be aware of: Many instructors in the sim may give you something like a 45 degrees or more nose pitch up in an unusual attitude recovery maneuver, and you may get used to recovering from these excessive attitudes. However, the examiner may only give you the bare minimum of 25 to 30 degrees of nose up pitch. Thusly, you may be tricked into thinking that you are not really into an unusual attitude and, consequently, don't need to be as aggressive in your recovery technique. Remember: only one degree separates a simple nose high attitude from an OFFICIAL unusual attitude. Don't be fooled... Play the game!! If you are going to demonstrate an unusual attitude recovery technique, then anything the examiner gives you will have need of the official unusual attitude recovery technique.

Excellent advice, Alex. Before you go for training, get the material in advance and try to find a mentor! The employer is not interested in "training" you. They will expect you to know for example the electrical diagram... what happens when the # 1 alternator fails? If both the #1 and #2 alternators fail how does the APU alternator take over, what converts DC power to AC power. The training facilities should do a much better job at being specific as to what you need to know on the first day of class, but they really don't care and most of their instructors are burned out. Also try to talk to other pilots who are in front of you in training so they can brief you on what to expect. If you don't do these things, you will fail because of the way the system is set up. Study in groups if possible, remember "if you study alone, you will fail alone!"

+1 limitations down cold before going to school. And bug the training center weeks before your start date to give you the material early. They seem to think giving you access a couple days prior to start is sufficient... no way man. lol.

True to each word …. American instructor the don’t care you know or don’t know and the hate people coming straight from cessna . Everything will be very fast and hard to match the pace . The teach 10 percent and expect to perform 90 percent perfect . So very emotional 😢 Too much fast pace course And the instructors won’t like you .as the feel not paid enough .

How does the airline determine what aircraft ypur going to get ? And if your stuck on the 737 how long before you can get something else ?
@AlexBengoechea
@AlexBengoechea 2 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. I don't have the exact answer but I could assume it depends on the airlines needs or what position you applied for. And probably that comes with seniority, the longer you've been in the airline you can probably choose the aircraft you want to fly and your schedule.
