This is the review you've been waiting for! An honest review by an actual OWNER of the Rebel 1100...plus, it's MANUAL! Most of the reviews we've seen so far have been of the DCT model, and have been done by people who only put a few miles on the bike. Not this time! I already have over 100 miles on my manual Honda Rebel 1100, so I figured it was time to give my honest first impressions of my 2021 Rebel 1100!
I cover it all- the pros and cons, all of the riding modes, highway capabilities, performance around town, how it handles on the twisty back roads, the looks, the suspension, the seat, the color, the price, the technology, the exhaust, AND MORE! You name it, I'm sure I talked about it. This is the ULTIMATE first impressions review of the 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 manual model.
Now this is just my initial impression on my Rebel 1100- be sure to check back for my one month check-in review, plus all the mods I plan to do to improve on the weak spots of my Rebel. You won't want to miss this!
Be sure to subscribe if you haven't already so that you don't miss out on quality Honda Rebel 1100 content, and get ready for me to put this thing through the ringer! LET'S GOOO!!!!!

Well the DTC is good so peoples with some mailfunction (amputation and such) left leg so they can't use the gir shifter so don't be angry for that and Honda have done it possible so function fresh peoples and none can drive so this is nice :) i my self have no issues with if it is manual gear or automatic still i shoose the DTC because i am lazy :) I learned this from my ATV who have this all atv's have this DTC almost so this is a good ting.

Couple of notes. The forks appear blue in sunlight due to the nitride coating. Manufactures, Honda especially, tend not to put much effort into stock exhausts because they know most people will change them anyway. It's designed to meet EPA requirements and aesthetics are a last minute thing.

The heavier front end you mentionned at around 8:00 is probably because of the 18in wheel. The overall diameter of wheel + tire is probably bigger than on the 500 so it has more inertia and you have to apply more force on the bars to turn the wheel. Just my guess. Awesome review dude. I love this bike since Honda announced it and I am so happy that you're gonna ride and review it with all honesty. You earned a sub

@@oldstarouijaboard42 it's not a myth. The only part that's a myth is that they use lubricant when they make the tires. Tires are a bit more slippery when new but not because of some lubricant. Tire needs to go through some hot/cold cycles to finish curing, and that's the "break in" period.

I have a Triumph Bonneville SpeedMaster, I use rain mode when ever I’m beach-side cruising or in crowded slow traffic areas. Rain Mode calms the throttle response and makes it much easier to hold a steady slow speed. My bike only has rain and normal mode though, and normal is not tame.

@leftymike8730
@leftymike8730 3 жыл бұрын
@@crp9985 if you have piggyback shocks you should have settings to adjust preload, compression and rebound. Usually there will be knobs to adjust rebound and compression, preload is usually done with a spanner wrench on the bottom of the spring. Of course this may vary with each brand but that is the most common setup. I am not sure if the front suspension is adjustable on that bike.

The harsh suspension you mentioned on the highway may be because it's in sport mode. On my Goldwing, sport mode stiffens the suspension as well as adjusts the throttle control.

I had that same problem so I made a simple jig that raised my front seat clamp 1 inch higher. Can't tell it is there by looking, I don't slide forward anymore and it is actually more comfortable. Used a simple metal outlet cover you can buy at Home Depot, a hacksaw, a sturdy vise, some black electrical tape and about 15 minutes of my time. I sat on a 1100 and really like the way it felt.Far more comfortable than the rebel. I am saving my bucks now for one.

A very comprehensive and honest review, mate! I took a test ride on the DCT version as the manual one was not available. The DCT version was somewhat weird especially when leaving from the traffic lights. The bike kind of kicked of at a higher speed than I gave it throttle. The dealer assumed it is the characteristics of the DCT. I definitely also prefer the manual transmission. The DCT was not my cup of tea. I look forward to getting the manual version for a spin.

It’s crazy how far bikes have come. I have a 94 Shadow 1100 with almost 77,000 miles and I never understood why Honda discontinued the Shadow 1100 series. Maybe this is just me being an “old” fuddy but in my opinion why not leave the Rebel the “small” bike and bring back the Shadow with this motor. It’s a sick bike though but I honestly don’t know if I could imagine riding a bike with all of that technology and modes. Again, just my personal opinion. Nice job on the review! Manual ftw! I found the Rebel 500 painfully cramped for my 6'1" frame, not sure the 1100 is a big enough upsize. And in Canada the pricing seems odd for this bike. The manual It is within $1K of the Triumph Speedmaster, so would be a tough sell, for me anyway... Lastly, when pulling away from a stop, left foot on the ground, right foot on the brake and you'll never have a problem on a hill or in the case you have to suddenly abort take off for any reason. Always makes me cringe seeing bikers with both feet on the ground when pulling away from a stop.

I have a rebel 500 and just test drove the 1100 DCT. And WOW it’s a rocket. Like seriously too fast for safety and tickets lol from 0-70 it GOES. I didn’t like I couldn’t use the clutch and manual gears honestly as when riding I want to be focused and riding in tune the gears. It felt just as easy to drive and turn as the 500 and the extra weight doesn’t seem a hinderance but it’s actually better on highways with the extra weight and it’s low so not top heavy so anyone height under 6ft or females could ride it. Im waiting to make a decision on getting one until the manual transmission one comes in. But excited!!!!!!!

Great video very clear and informative. I own the 2017 500 which I love for all the same reasons of the 1100 including the lean and turn factor.I do believe this is one bike for all riding. (Still would like an enduro) Time to upgrade to the 1100

I have to make this comment. I notice the gas tank has waring label stickers on it?... WTF!!!!! I recently had to replace the gas tank on my Honda Rebel 250. All the tanks I saw online had those lame stickers on them. I saw them in the ads and thought they were stickers that peel right off. THEY DONT! They’re embedded in the finish. So I thought... ok after market BS. But here I see them on a brand new bike tank. Horrible! I have four other bikes up to a 1300 Yamaha and none have that sticker, including my Honda Shadow 1100 (1988) What an eyesore and shame on Honda for including that on its bikes!

Current 500X owner, ex Vulcan S owner here, and you've really sold me on this bike. Fell in love with the 500X because of the smoothness of everything (Hondaisms), but after a year or so it's just lacking that power and character. The Vulcan S looks cool and is super comfy, but it bored me. Not very powerful, not much character and the whole thing operates clunky, like a tractor. The 1100 seems like the perfect mix of Honda practicality and cruiser character.

Nice review, I have a 2017 sv650 that I love to death. However when I was getting it I was looking at the rebel 500 too. Only cruiser I ever liked. And the 1100 has been catching my eye too. Though I probably wont change my bike its still awesome to see how the Rebel is doing.

Man, I was thinking this was the perfect bike for my situation until the suspension came up. There isnt a highway, backroad or city street around me that doesnt have serious pro lems with potholes and tar snakes and construction going on. I havent ridden a bike in 40 years, indeed something with great suspension...any suggestions? Thanks for the great and honest review.

I liked your comment about the handelbars. I'm 5'7" and have a short reach. Without changing the bars, would 2" or 3" risers be available for the stock handelbars? Did it with the M-50, and love the way it rides.

Yup, absolutely! Check out On The Rebel 11’s channel for some great resources on that. He’s about the same height as you and settled on 4” adjustable Rox risers after first trying their 2” and 3” models I believe. He has a full install video showing that no line/wire extensions are needed, he just had to reroute the brake line I believe. I’m sure it’ll be a big help for what you need 👌🏻

Thanks Bro for what you're doing. And turning me on to Rebel 11's channel. I don't have the Rebel yet.... in the 70's Honda had created the perfect motor in the 750 Four. And looking to pick up the Rebel 1100 next. I searched for a comparison of the Iron 1200 Sportster Vs. the Rebel 1100. It was a good side by side comparison of the 2022 Rebel and the 2023 Iron 1200 Sportster. The 2023 Sporty is made by KAWASAKI?? Who Knew? Thank you again.

I believe engineers need to rethink how motorcycle suspensions are made. I'm thinking of instead of a swingarm pivoting toward the seat (alone). how about a subframe that holds the rider's position, complete with seat, and footpegs, with this subframe pivoting near the steering neck, so in effect, this would move forward more than down near the front where the footpegs are, and thereby not take away from ground clearance, while the seat portion of the frame can be high off so it can move a whole lot and never come near the ground? This should offer a whole lot of suspension travel, as long as the rider's feet (with forward controls) would not touch the front wheel. And what if this was like an air ride suspension with air bags like the big semi-trucks have and the drivers like so much? Then you could still keep the rear shock / swingarm in the back but have this additional suspension. What bump would stand a chance against something like that?

New subscriber to your channel. Looking forward to the content. Sold my bike 15 years ago and just bought the DCT 1100. It’s an unbelievable bike. My wife wants to ride but we can’t get a seat for it yet. Ready to see your Vance and Hines review. Hoping it’s not too over the top because although the sound of the stock 1100 is amazing, the exhaust isn’t very pretty lol

I about lost it when you said about looks "A lot of Harley guys are hatin' on it but no one really cares because all their bikes look the same." BAHAHAHAHA (subscribed).... Love it & I love/have a Harley with a Versys 650 next to it & a Rebel 1100 will soon be added. I'm not goo-goo over the looks but like it well enough. The whole package is going to be VERY hard to beat for the $$$. Leave it to Honda to shake up everything with a "fully loaded" mid weight cruiser that pretty much destroys the competition, especially at this price point. Well done on the review. Looking fwd to seeing more of your experience with this piece. Be careful out there & don't let that "young flowing testosterone" get you in trouble on the road...lol
