I used to run a nebula mars 2 pro back in Ghana before I moved to the U.K. It was exceptionally useful for when there were power cuts. Sometimes, I wouldn't even notice the power cut until I left my room and stepped outside. Also, as a teacher, it helped me make better demonstrations to my students and my colleagues loved it. Best purchase yet.

I own a 4K optima projector absolutely love it. I agree with this video If you're looking for contrast you're not going to beat the TV but 110 in with a surround sound system connected to a receiver that's where you get all your gains from. I bought my first projector last year - a TopVision TL6 on sale for about $115. I bought a cheap one to see if i liked having a projector. I loved it! The picture was surprisingly good for the price. But, it died after not that many hours of use - within one year. Now I am shopping for a new projector in the $500 - $1,000 range. Portability is not that important. The most difficult thing is learning and picking one! I'm leaning towards a Xgimi, Formovie V10, or an Epson or BenQ? Any suggestions? If yes thanks in advance!

Main issue IMO is if sensitive to rainbow effect, avoid DLP / color wheel tech. I had to bail from Optima and went to an Epson 3800. No rainbows and better with gaming, while being less than $2K and not too big.
@demagab
@demagab 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but DLP projectors have a much greater contrast. I used to get pretty annoyed by the rainbow effect, but I see it as a feature. Many people won't even notice it. LED/laser projectors don't have a color wheel and although they still need to alternate between the colors, they are much faster, thus reducing the rainbow effect

My Rant: This seems like an overview for projectors that was written 3-4 years ago and finally produced. There have been significant advanced in not only projection technology and availability, but also screen materials. The most notable absence was Ultrashort throw projectors, which are the likely future for many newcomers to the projection space due to their ease of use and setup. Another worth while mention that was absent from this "overview" is screen material.. white, gray, ambient light rejecting.. It kind of feels like this video is likely to do more harm than good for someone who is curious about projectors but maybe doesn't know much about what may be available to them. I understand that this wasn't meant to be a comprehensive overview of projection technology, but it doesn't really provide much meaningful information in any regard and negates some of the most meaningful changes in recent years that might make someone consider a projector, which makes me question why make it at all?

What home cinema projector would you recommend? (maybe 1080p) I have been using the Benq 2550 for a few years but I am starting to think a highend 1080p projector might have much better contrast ratio. As you say 4k resolution is not all that important as long as the 1080p projector can downscale a 4k source.

I have had an optima HD 25e for the last three or four years. The color saturation from the contrast ratio is phenomenal. We have a 3D Blu-ray player which we send the image to the projector and it's image is projected onto a 167-in diagonal measure drywall screen in our basement. We have no windows and we have a dedicated room that's 22 ft long 11 ft wide so our image is 11 ft wide by 5 1/2 to 6 ft tall. We cannot detect any of that rainbow effect and people talk about unless you take your phone out and start recording it and then when you play it back on your phone's screen then and only then can you notice the rainbow effect. We have our light setting on the projector on echo mode and still get a nice bright colorful and nice contrast ratio image

This could be the year where tv’s at 86 inches crossover into 100” projector screen size?. Just measured the diagonal distance difference between the two - and I can live with it, surprisingly. I am thinking a: Sony 86” X95K mini-led might be the true 4k tv to get the job done with all the improvements to Sony tv processing power - without all the hassles of projectors regarding overall lumen brightness, panel alignment, calibration issues, colour volume etc. and bulb replacement etc.

I've had projectors in my living room for about 15 years. What I like about it is that it fundamentally changes how you feel about the content you're watching. One of my early transformative experiences was watching Jurassic Park, a movie I had watched hundreds of times since home video release on VHS, DVD, etc. I had actually seen it within six months before getting my first projector, YET, when I thought to try it out "on the big screen" it felt entirely new again. It was an experience I hadn't had since I stood in a line wrapped around my local cinema at 10 years old. So many movies feel old, or lesser when you see them on a television. I never cared for The Godfather until I finally got to see a film projection of it at The Egyptian in Hollywood. Especially now on this 4K world, screen size makes all the difference.

Currently got an Epson eh tw9100w. It's got a good picture but not good to game on due to 55ms in fast mode. I had a Sony 2030qm crt projector 500 lumens. It was very dimm and worthy of criminal punishment to calibrate 30+ screw driver knobs. All analogue. Upside was it has big 15 watt speakers on it that sounded great compared to the little 5 watt incorporated these days. My favourite was the Electrohome ECP4500 CRT projector. 720p/1080i 725 lumens 15000:1 native contrast. Ran over HDMI fury. Beats any modern day projector for gaming. No lag, no motion blur. Other than tube and lens calibration it was all digital. Looked like traffic light and were the size and weight too. Bump the projector and you have spend a few hours sometimes fixing it. 4K LG CX OLED at 120 hertz is the best picture overall. 120 hertz in game mode is very very close to CRT projector in response time at 60 hertz. There is blur unless you use black frame insertion (makes picture dim, but game mode must be off and lag increases. I think the future for projection is microLED.

I am definitely sure I don't want to mount the projector anywhere in the room. So shall I go for portable projectors. But all of them come with a speaker if I am not wrong and they also have a small resolution.

I used to run a training department and projectors gained popularity. Like you, I also left the TVs behind in lieu of a projector 20 years ago. I am disappointed that you did not cover the new wave of low price projectors using LED as a light source. Several run in the $200 range and boast a lamp life of 100,000 hours, (although that's subject to debate). Many of the low priced LED projectors coming out are giving brand name companies a run for their money. Perhaps you could cover them in your next projector video?? Also, my favorite high end projector is the Christie, Hands Down!

Right on...I love my cheapo Growview projector. I used to buy high end, but got tired of the bulb change. Costly...With a good framed screen, my LED projector looks great.

@@juliocs5483 - About a year or so ago, I bought a cheapo Jifar LED projector but the bulb died after 6 months and the company really didn't support me. Amazon stood behind me and gave me most of my money back. I'm trying a WiMius which I got a couple of months ago. Another cheapo but it seems to be a good piece of equipment. Time will tell! Take Care, Tom

@@thomask4836 Yes, always a risk for the cheapos...I should have gotten the 4 year extended plan with Amazon, just in case. Time will tell. For now, I am happy with mine. Once, i find a PS5 for retail, I will hook it up and see how it works. For retail lol!

I have 1000$ maximum to spend for projector, and i have I phone and i want to connect with the projector and watch movies. What is the best projector what i can get for my budget? Thank you.

I now watched a bunch of videos about projectors and spend hours trying to find one that’s best for me.... I have a budget of about 400euros for the projector itself, I would like to have it 1080p and good brightness and as good of colors as possible but most importantly for me is the fan can’t be to extremely loud cuz I’ll sit right under the projector. If possible low latency cuz I would like to play games as well. I dont care about sound cuz i have great speakers. The projector will be parallel on a shelf about 290cm/9.5feet/114inches away from the projector screen and I have trouble figuring out how big the screen will be, I don’t want it to be too big so it’s on the floor and zoom decreases the resolution… One that I have my eye on is the NexiGo PJ20 but there now is a PJ30 and it’s basically just brighter. One that is basically perfect is the Optoma HD146X but the cheapest one is up for about 630bucks which is a bit much for me but might be doable when I close one eye... I would very much appreciate any help and recommendations that I can get! Thank you very much!

I’ve had a number of JVC projectors over the years and nothing comes close for a cinema viewing experience in the home. Oled TVs are great but can’t compete with a 6ft + screen - my JVC makes even standard blu rays look great.

I’ve used a projector for movies and gaming for the last 15 years. It’s amazing, but for the first time I’m considering switching to a TV for my ps5 and Xbox series X so I can take full advantage. True 4K projectors are at least 3000 CDN and the HDR on those still just can’t compare. Way out of my price range and it makes me a bit sad. It’s hard to go from 114” screen to like a 75 or 85” screen…as silly as that sounds.

I had bought a 90 dollar projector from a brand called E-Gate. After 4 years it’s still working perfectly. It is really worth the money, but the brightness 🔅 is very average, but for that price point it’s ok. Speakers ofc suck 😂

This was very informative but I think you should have mentioned how the surface you are projecting on has a great impact on the over all experience. Having a white wall or a white bed sheet would negate a higher investment is a quality projector. Yes it could be its own video but would have been nice to mention it.

Setting up your home theater projector screen I was lucky. The wall is the 11 ft wide and 6 ft High and it had a seam going all the way across the middle of the wall. Hi sheetrock mudded the seam sanded it and painted the entire wall with killz primer. Then I bought a projector paint from a seller in Michigan that specifically designed for dlps. The color of the paint is a mix of gray and powder blue. The court of paint came with a bag of ground silica.. you mix in a little at a time with a wooden popsicle stick that came with it the silica into the paint mixture. Using a 8-in foam roller it took me about 20 minutes to paint the entire wall. Let me tell you the image is absolutely beautiful. The 3D Blu-ray copy of Avatar is so lifelike it looks like you can take your hand and arm and stick it through the screen

For just a quick Video it's OK. But you could have mentioned Screens. In my Case the Screen I use does improve the contrast by 8 times. This is a big deal.

I ordered a 100in screen on Amazon with the stand. Works great. Projector sound needs to be amplified by powered computer speakers or you will barely hear it with the projector by itself. I watch movies , hbomax, etc. at least every other night, and sometimes I watch them again on my 65in samsung qled if the movie is good.

A family member of mine asked, 'isn't a projector picture bad ?'. I said 'I love the big picture, and for a quality of the picture, come over and see for yourself'. When he saw the picture in my Home Cinema he said 'Wow, it's just like a really big flat screen' My projector is a Epson TW9300 projected on a 84" DNP Supernova screen.
