I really love this coffee channel! Great information! I am upgrading from my Lelit Anna to a Rancilio Silvia Pro X, great advice on the grinder. I also roast my own coffee , can't get any fresher than that.

Great video mate! I started with one of the Breville “pro” grinder with a Mokapot - not bad at all because I love the strong espresso with sugar.. gradually I’ve upgraded and my grinder is 3X the price of my single boiler E61 machine. I agree with you regarding how Grinder + careful puck preparation do to coffee. Now I would love to do a bit of flow profiling - future upgrades 😊

It will be interesting to see what Smeg do with their household appliances after incorporating that La Pavoni DNA. They could wind up with the next Breville Dual Boiler? Something affordable and genuinely good (for a flat profile at least).

Yeh, I really hope it does good things for their coffee line. I like Smeg as a brand but their current line of machines are terrible.

Yep - my dad absolute love to say "quel espresso dégueulasse!" - "what a disgusting espresso!" - every time he goes to his favorite coffee shop, which is also where I work lol and people don't understand that's a compliment!!! Our coffee is very Parisian style old school, super strong and bitter. I do like the Krups grinders on a budget - not conical burr but for about 95 CAD you get a good burr grinder and it makes more sense at home because it's smaller IMHO. It looks amazing too! Downside is that it doesn't have any proper scale but a step away from the finest settings is best for most machines.

Well, so, yes... Of course you could do this. Or.. Get a Moka Pot. Try all the coffees from around the world. Then, after family and the dog have left (cat won't have gone as they are weird as well) Clear space. Get a La Pavoni lever and settle in. Life has begun

Hello, thank you for the informative video. I'm stuck between choosing PicoPresso and Delonghi Stilosa. I would appreciate your guidance; I should note that I don't drink milk with coffee at all, and I have a 60mm flat burr grinder,I want to say thank you again for the really helpful video
@Rydecoffeecoach
@Rydecoffeecoach 7 ай бұрын
Thank you! If you're chasing better espresso taste, then the Pico is definitely the choice. The Stilosa is easier but without pimping it out with the better basket, tamp and portafilter, you won't get a great espresso.

nice video I would love a buyers guide on a semi automatic or fully automatic machine. My partner just want to press a button with milk coffees
@Rydecoffeecoach
@Rydecoffeecoach 6 ай бұрын
I do have videos on the semi automatics but just not the fully auto ones. However, I just posted a video on the Morning pod machines and these are actually great at extracting nice shots so I would watch that video and see if that would work. I would normally say stay away from full auto machines as they don't make great coffee and can attract ants (and/or gross things in the milk area). But if you absolutely need to, I would look at Jura or De'Longhi as they are decent enough. But try to convince your wife that a machine like a Breville touch/oracle is pretty close to an press button or do what I do and just buy the machine you want and then make her coffee every morning. 😅🙌

The reviews of yours that I had already watched told me that I can trust you! But in this review, when you favorably reviewed Decent, it was not convincing to me. Not on it's own but especially when I compare it to other (seemingly) trustworthy reviews. I'm reporting my newbie impressions only. I'm still curious about Decent and your channel.

Yeh because unfortunately even though I thought I'd be making content for Aussies, you guys are only 8% of my viewers and majority are in countries that use the USD and can't convert backwards from AUD. I'm trying to cover both by using USD/AUD pricing in future videos. 👌

Bro, just found the channel and I'm hooked. Love your vibe! I owned a breville barista Express for about 5 years and then sold it before I moved to mexico. Now I'm over in Mexico and I'm looking for a machine where I don't have to do the work (super automatic/delonghi dinamica plus) but I realized that all the super automatics are going to end up just breaking prematurely and then I'm stuck with a very expensive broken machine. What prosumer set up would you recommend so that I'm not having to spend money every few years? I'm willing to put in 3k for the longevity (not sure if that's enough but that's my budget). Thank you! 👍

Hey Ryd, great videos btw. Hey I’m just new on my coffee journey but I’ve had a Delonghi 3420 for a couple of months and did all the upgrades etc… but now I’m looking to upgrade and I kind of wish someone had told me to hold out for 58mm size instead of buying all the stuff in 51mm first and then moving up. Is this something you’d recommend?
@Rydecoffeecoach
@Rydecoffeecoach 8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeh thats the really difficult thing about many of the appliance brands, they all have smaller portafilter sizes and so you invest all this money buying the best accessories but then when you upgrade you have to do it all the time. But I think you should still be able to sell those 51mm accessories and regain some of your money. I think its awesome that you've gone on this journey because you're experiencing how coffee keeps getting better and better! Enjoy the Ride.

Hi, is there any decent machine with a grinder? Or is it not worth it? What about Dualit Espressivo Pro?
@Rydecoffeecoach
@Rydecoffeecoach Ай бұрын
I strongly believe you should avoid a grinder combo machine as one of them will always fail first (usually the machine) and then what do you do? Have two machines on the bench and use one just as a grinder? It's so much easier to find a cheap grinder that will last you 10+ years than a cheap coffee machine. So picking up a second hand grinder is much less risky than any machine. But even new, grinders like Breville/Sage smart grinder pro or dose control pro are cheap and excellent starting points. Then just buy the Sage Bambino if you don't have a big budget. But if you can stretch to something like a Profitec Go and a Eureka Mignon Silenzio you'll be set up with the best from the start and won't need to worry about replacing until you're ready to upgrade.

What are your thoughts on the Breville touch impress?
@Rydecoffeecoach
@Rydecoffeecoach 3 ай бұрын
I try to stay away from the touch or the Oracle because you don't really want a built in grinder and they are very expensive for machines that may only last you 5 years. I think you can make great coffees on the Bambino for a lot less. The dual boiler is the best of the Breville machines but they have gotten quite expensive lately too and so it's just being aware that these machines may not last and there are other machines like the Turin Legato which probably last 5 years too (hasn't been around long enough to know for sure) but for a lot less money.

@@Rydecoffeecoach thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. Could you recommend any automatic coffee machines?
@Rydecoffeecoach
@Rydecoffeecoach 3 ай бұрын
@@brendanhutton7452 look, as far as auto machines go, these are very handy and do make good coffee. But there are some De'Longhi auto machines that I've heard can last 10 years but I'm not as experienced with servicing them so I can't speak from my own. Jura also have some that from talking to technicians are reliable too.

😅 yes we'll in the way that coffee is still completely subjective so if someone loves the taste of butter and burnt dark roasted Robusta coffee, then who's to say that is wrong? I hate it and so many snobs would hate it but it's not necessarily wrong if people prefer that. 🤷
