My mom asked me yesterday "Why are you trying to take such a difficult path in life? You literally had the easy path others want right in front of you and are choosing to throw it away for something that's not guaranteed"
I told her that I want to live with meaning. I want to do the hard things in life that most won't to better myself and grow as a person.
It's been 2 months into this new journey of pursuing things to find fulfillment in my life because I never had time to while working at my last job. Not sure if I am any happier now as I face different challenges but will stick to my word and push through as long as I can this year. Thank you to those who watch and support, I have lots of video ideas on the way :)

As someone who is also a Korean corporate accountant working in downtown Chicago...it's just not worth it. Yes, I get paid nearly six figures but just the long hours, stress, anxiety, corporate politics, and honestly people who produce low quality work eventually got to me. Those who are thinking of going into accounting for a "stable job" needs to think again. There is no such thing as a stable job in any field. Accountants gets replaced all the time. I too will leave my corporate job later next month for my sanity. My next career path will be a very simple job that doesn't burnout my brain. The prestigious title doesn't matter to me anymore but I agree with everything you said and I wish you luck!

i used to work as a hotel cleaner. was paid $22 AUD a hour. Everytime I start to hate my current job (now I'm a nurse earning $65 AUD p/h) I remember how hard I had to work to earn $22 then convert that to my current rate. Is a very good way of grounding myself. It's great for people to pursue their passion. But there is a saying, just because you have a favorite song doesn't mean you should make it the sound for your alarm in the morning. I don't know exactly how much you hated your previous career, but compare how much time and effort it took to earn what you made from being a delivery driver compared to your office job. you remind me of myself in my early 20's. this is the time in your life to work out what you hate, love etc. i enjoy watching your content and perspective on life. wishing you the best, all the way from Australia.

Started the corporate grind after i graduated last year. The 2.5 hour commute up and back is starting to kill me. If i decide to move out from parents home then im barely making anything after rent and dont know if i can stomach spending loads on rent especially where im living. Finding hobbies inbetween the week has def helped in having something to look forward to but man, another 40+ years of this is so depressing.

Im impressed that youre doing a 2.5 hr commute to save money since it would take a toll on my mental health. Think of it as a blessing thought since I wish I couldve lived at my parents to save rent

I graduated with an accounting degree and had an internship in one of the accounting firms in my area and that’s when I figured out how much I hate corporate jobs. I just realized it was not for me. So I went to work with my brother at his restaurant which he just recently sold. I had to go back and find a corporate job. I decided to give it another shot and started giving it my all. Unfortunately, I got laid off 2 weeks ago after I defended myself against one of my colleagues at work who was yelling at me in front of everyone at the firm. The manager ended up firing me to make him stay at the company. I was shocked because all my clients were happy with my work and I was really working so hard to improve. Now I do grub hub and other side gigs. I don’t know if I want to do corporate anymore. I really hate it. I honestly don’t know what I want to do with my life rn but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I’ve been also hiding it from my parents cuz I’m afraid they think of me as a failure. I just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone bro. Much respect to you and I’m praying that everything works out for you.

I'm currently a sophomore aiming for the accounting path that you were on. I question if I'm doing the right thing and if I'm going to regret it all the time. All I have to say is if you are all in do not procrastinate. Believe in yourself and take action. Fail, but then adjust. Don't give up . Wish you all the best man

your mom is right. Most people that start their entrepreneurship journey start it out as a side gig. No one in their right mind would really quit their job with nothing line up. Were you not on track to get a senior promo? Even so, i wouldn't quit. You could've just took an unpaid leave if you need time.

He ain’t the first. I’ve seen a lot of youtube videos of ppl that quits their corporate 6 figures 9-5 jobs to be a full time youtube content creator. Some realized that it won’t make enough money to support their day to day and went back to their 9-5 jobs or end up doing other service job like teaching abroad, door dash, etc. he is young. You will live and learn. And the only way you learn is from your failure.

I hate to say it but no one goes into accounting/tax "for fun" or to get "enjoyment". We are all working this grind for the money because we all need money to pay the bills and obviously you've seen that working door dash also sucks. If you don't make enough money then your life also sucks. You have more free time but less money to have an enjoyment life. So it is a double-edge sword. That's the reality. From your perspective, you've only see the big 4 life which is a toxic work environment with absurd work expectations. That's why I went into government. It is a fixed 8am-5pm job which is stable and decent benefits. Other employees are pretty chill and don't have that toxic workaholic attitude like you see in public accounting. Maybe government tax/accounting is something that would work for your mentality. I have a more chill attitude towards work (I'm not going to make my work the entire focus of my life) and it seems like you do too. I thought the same way when I was your age.
