The thing with fine natural hair, although it can be genetic. I can also be caused by over manipulation when it comes to certain hairstyles like tiny box braids, you just removing locs or it could be due to a lack of iron deficiency. But there are girls who naturally have fine natural hair

I refer to my hair as coily not curly. I bet people with curly hair will start calling their hair coily because certain people love to copycat. I'm in favor of a new hair chart for us.

I 💯 percent agree that 4c hair is underrepresented in media. So, when I do see it, it makes me so happy, and I feel seen. One example of this is in the show The Other Black Girl. The protagonist Nella wears her 4c afro in the workplace. Sadly, the show was canceled after 1 season. I wear my hair in an afro at my job, and I've gotten compliments from all my white coworkers. Interestingly enough, none of my black female coworkers say anything.

Totally agree…i never was into these types…if anything coily and dark skin should be at the top, as that is how humankind started.

I have long thick 4a natural hair and I’m so glad I discovered your channel. Chrissie was the first pro black woman channel I came across years ago but I’m so happy I’m coming across more channels that are pro black women and uplift type 4 natural hair. I also had a relaxer when I was a little girl and I did the big chop when I was 18.

I was always natural. Never had a perm. However, I lost my edges in middle school from wear and tear from headwraps at night. Located in the inner city poorer part of massachusetts and you can imagine the bullying was intense being around the black girls who had perms and dominican girls who had presses.

I have high porosity, 4B hair and I use the chi argon oil shampoo and conditioner, Shea moisture manuka honey hair mask and the Mielle babussa & mint deep conditioner (has protein which I loveee) then mix the 2 together w some water to make it less thick and then apply and let sit for at least 20 min w a cap on, and to moisturize my hair I use Mielle rosemary line leave in or the carols daughters coco cream butter to do mini twists :) I mix amla oil, castor, jojoba, olive, vitamin e, black castor, Mielle rosemary line oil, avocado, and/or almond oil all in a bottle with peppermint essential oil and oil my scalp at least once a week (don’t need to add all of them! I do a mix based on what I currently have. Pick ones that benefit ur hair the way you need and go from there) Note: the argon shampoo can be kind of stripping but I have a big bottle and I refuse to let it go to waste and buy more products💀 (say no to excessive consumerism and the need to constantly buy the newest product!)

I have been loc for 12 yrs and love it...the confidence is on another level...

EDIT: this is a book but my tips & stuff I hope help other girls in here 😭 I am a high porosity, fine hair girly 🙋🏾‍♀️😭 I didn’t know this until I moved down south for college. My hair appears thick when it’s dry but as soon as the humidity hit-POOF. A frizzball!! When I was up north I just halfway moisturized my hair and stretched it in pineapples at night. I have only recently (it’s been a war the past 4 years) discovered that the answer to my hair problems was oh. So. Simple. My curls needed MORE water, not less. Because my hair soaks up moisture in the air so quickly I thought I needed to keep her dry to combat it. Dead wrong. Now, I completely soak my hair in sections with a spray bottle before I add a thick curling cream and seal with DooGro mega thick grease. Personally, I’ve always used regular conditioner as a leave-in because it’s more hydrating but Cantu has an AMAZING leave-in conditioner cream I’m using rn. I also am using the DooGro follicle stimulating oil for my scalp. It’s been 2 weeks and the difference is astronomical in how strong my hair feels. Btw, I just refreshed my pigtails and out of 4 sections I lost the least amount of shed I’ve ever seen! I also ALWAYS wrap my hair in satin scarves before going to bed. And, I predominantly finger detangle. The only time I use a comb is when I’m stretching my hair at the root or using one of those little detangling brushes during wash day. Another tip: I shampoo my hair in jumbo braids to reduce tangling & breakage

Thank you for the work you're doing! I appreciate it. I do want to point out that Jamaican black castor oil is not medically proven to regrow hair, according to dermatologists. They've said that as long as you stop doing what pulled out the hair in the first place and the follicles haven't been damaged beyond repair, the hair will regrow on it's own.
