I have a black female Maine coon & had a grey tabby male as a kid. I wanted one ever since being a kid but knew they were expensive, in lockdown I lost a wonderful Russian blue to cancer at mealy 19, my dearest female. Bereft without her but receiving a tax rebate I found a MC kitten and the joy she brings us immense. The most beautiful, funny, gentle, clumsy and entertaining cats.

The extreme difference in eye colors between many of the mothers and their kittens is striking. One mother cat even has two completely different eye colors. My sister has one eye in which the color is split down the middle between green and blue, so that can happen too. Cheers

@Lynn Messier I kept doing the samething! lol I've always been a "cat person" & couldn't imagine not having fur-babies in my life. I was 5/6yrs when I had my 1st cat & he was a big ole ginger. "TC" had a tough guy exterior, but he let me dress him in my doll baby's clothes & even rode in the pram! He would just sleep & let me do whatever. He'll forever hold a special place in my heart🧡

They’re all so beautiful! Jetta and Matilda have gorgeous colors and Artica, with her different colored eyes reminds me of David Bowie (1st thing I thought of was the Thin White Duke, my brain is weird) I’ve always loved blue-grey cats, but with these guys - that gets tossed out the window. Coonie love is the most unconditional perfection that exists far beyond our realm of understanding. To be owned and loved by a Coonie is pure and utter completion. I am so blessed to be loved by mine, and to love him makes my heart happy ❤❤

They are stupendous looking animals. My husband keeps showing me videos of them. Hint hint. But How are the kittens with other dogs or cats or kittens already in the home or when those same animals could be added later... oh yeah and chickens. I appreciate any info

@@laurencopenhaver5366 Hi Lauren :) I'm pretty sure MC kittens would be the same as any other kitten when it comes to introducing them to other animals in the family. However, I rescued my Maine Coon from my past SPCA shelter on the 15th of this month, 4 years ago down here in New Zealand, so the situation with mine is a little different from others. Romeo is such a loving MC, but I wouldn't have him around chickens due to him having an exceptionally high prey drive, which he has already used on my neighbours chickens. However, he was pretty feral when he came to me as well as being an older cat, so if I were you, I wouldn't count on a future kitten of yours necessarily behaving like Romeo does. Each cat we know has their own personality. I hope this helps you out a little, and wish you and your husband the very best with finding your own wonderful MC. Your husband has great taste in cats!!! But be warned ... once you have one, you'll want another!!! I know I do ⚘🙂

@@FelineQueen01 well thank you so much for your detailed reply! I've had good luck introducing animals to each other so I think you're right about kittens versus older cats. I do see chickens might not be possible in the way I envisioned. I do want to make sure that we would be able to provide 100% healthy happy environment for any new pet. They are so cool and beautiful to look at. But this is weird don't they seem a little bit cat plus something else..?

@@laurencopenhaver5366 Hi!!! Many thanks for your comment 🙂 Yes, they do seem to be something other than cat, but that is a definite plus!!! I'd describe Romeo as cat with dog/wolf tendencies thrown into the mix, in that he still has that wild and feral streak in his nature, along with his crazy shaggy coat that our Coonies have that makes them stand out from other cats. I've also been able to train him to do things that dogs do, which he picked up in about an hour, especially with the treats as a reward. Super intelligence!!! Plus he is so very loyal and loving, just like a dog ... he is an incredibly amazing young man that I love so dearly ❤❤❤ Trust me, once you have a Coonie, you won't look back with getting another one!!! 🙂
