This is so true. I started in 2013, so 9 years ago. Just this year it has started to be significant and worthwhile. I love your advice, it JUST TAKES TIME! ❤

It really is frustrating, but I do enjoy creating products. I might not get sales from them now, but I know my hard work will pay off in the future. I truly love the creation process. It’s my 13th month on TPT. Still haven’t reached $1000/month yet, but I know I’ll get there. Everybody has a different journey. I know my time will come, too! But for now I’m gona do all things to get where I want to be 🙏🏻🥰

It’s only been a year- don’t be stressed about not making four figures yet. Give it some time and it will happen

Thanks Becca! I started my shop last month and it has been really good so far to just learn and grow. I'm trying to focus on product creation and growing my Instagram which has been both fun and informative

What I LOVE about TPT is it is fair because the more work you put in eventually you will have more sales. Many people expect to make money right away. I am looking forward to 4 years from now when I can just work on TPT. I write a lot of chemistry labs and I began during Covid when no one was in school and made no sales!!! I did not get upset because today I am happy that each month will cover the expense of my pony. Heidi TPT The Lesson Pony

Yes! That is the exact way you should look at it. Every time I make a new product I think the same way that I’m going to make sales in a few months or a few years. And I love what you say about it being fair because it definitely is. The more you work the better it will get

Do you ever think that they take too much out on commission? Like wouldn’t it be easier to get a following and eventually sell it through your own website? Tpt is tough. It’s great but can be a bit agonizing to see how much they take from what you could have made selling it on your own. Catch 22

You are so right on watching your time and thinking of both quality of product but also considering the amount of time- get faster and better :):)

Yes! Just because you’re working doesn’t mean you’re actually accomplishing things. We want to accomplish things and work. So make sure you keep an eye on both what you get done and how much time you’re spending

Hey Becca, love the video as always! Full of great advice! I was wondering if you ever feel any kind of imposter syndrome? In June, I'll have been on TpT for two years and I woke up on Wednesday and saw someone had bought a MASSIVE summer school bundle from me. It was my largest sale ever and the commission was over thirty dollars. Now I love that bundle. It's a five paragraph essay writing boot camp that I used with my own kiddos and saw that it made such a big difference in their performance and confidence levels. After seeing that I thought it'd be good for TpT and it was like my side hustle side project throughout the school year, to formalize the lesson plans, presentations, example essays and make it pretty. I should have been happy someone bought it. I was worried they wouldn't because it's so expensive, but my first thought was, "they're going to hate it because I don't know what I'm doing and I can't believe I tricked someone into spending so much money." Do you ever feel that way? And if so what have you done to replace that feeling with pride?

Hehehehehe. I appreciate this comment so much! You are not alone :) I feel the same way ... and not just with my more expensive products, but with almost every sale! Sale = (Happy Dance + greatfulness) + 5 minutes later ÷ Do you even know what you are doing?

We all feel that way especially at first. I also started when I was still very nude to teaching and that terrified me. But because I use my stuff with my own kids I know that it works and I know that it’s fun. Also the works weeks for itself if they don’t think it’s worth it then they won’t buy it so you don’t need to be stressed about that part of it. Teachers need resources. Just make sure you put the time into them to make them good and they will decide whether or not to buy them. You do your part. And the feelings will go away the longer you do it

I have a lot of questions when it comes to logos and banners. How can I give credit to the font artist, digital backgrounds, etc. if it’s a logo or banner? Also, a lot of things don’t say you can/cannot use it for a banner or logo... so is that a yes or no to use as long as you give credit? Please help! Trying to start a new store and getting these little things done.
