while this is a reaffirmation of the united states commitment to protect the Philippines as an ally nation, it would be wrong to assume that we are 100 percent protected if ever war breaks out because our protection is still primarily a function of the strength of our own military power and not those of the United States. the United States aircraft carrier is a military resource that belongs to them not ours. military resources paid for by the American taxpayers and therefore it will be for their exclusive use and it will be to their discretion if they should decide to use it to protect us if the need arises. the Philippines should still be investing and strengthening our military resources much like China is investing in their military resources as a matter of fact, China, just May of this year 2018 have sent out their homegrown aircraft carrier out to sea for testing. see link below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbh7ntV5kszImWg.html

How close are we with the U.S.? We're so close that we're the only country U.S. recruits and accepts qualified men(and women?) to serve in the U.S. navy, coast guard for generations now. Proud to say my dad was one of them. God bless America and the Philippines!

As a retired US Navy man I can say that the Filipino sailors aboard ship were in my opinion the most reliable and trustworthy across the board. I have a genuine respect for them.

After Three Deployments a total of 18 months at sea on the GW CVN73 and the Reagan CVN76 they FINALLY get to have this visit. Every year it was scheduled, it got canceled the night before i'm truly SALTY about that

Subic Bay use to be a military base until the government tried to get an increase in the payments the U.S. paid for the use of the base..Despite employing thousands of Philippino citizens they wanted more... We left & they invited Russia to use the facilities.. Big mistake on their part..Now they are out hundreds of millions of $$ and nearby assistance when disaster strikes.. Typhoons, floods, volcano eruptions etc....

Aran Roldan Do a history search... USA gave the country back to the people of the Phillipines after the Spanish and Japanese ruled it. It's sad that history teachers in the Phillipines are omitting this. On top of that we still give can huge amount of economic and humanitarian aid to the phillipines. Non.But, the US navy during its presence in the Philippines its so called ally already murdered a Filipino civilian in the person of Jennifer Laude. THE CHINESE TREATS FILIPINOS AS ITS EQUAL WHEREAS THE UNITED STATES TREATS FILIPINOS AS ITS LITTLE BROWN BROTHER,MAIDS HELPERS AND CAREGIVERS. Filipinos be proud that you are admitted to the US navy as toilet cleaners, chipping the rust of US ships and how you brag when your on vacation in the Philippines of your being in the US navy.

Just patrolling and docking of this aircraft carrier in the Philippines doesn't mean anything for the Chinese because they can do whatever they want to do in the disputed region which belongs to the Philippines. Looks like the US Navy which is the most powerful in the world is afraid to engage with the Chinese Navy which is less superior when it comes to power...!!! Just saying...!!!
