Herby has a history of this . In the 2007 national championship game between the Florida Gators and Ohio State he made the statement that Florida shouldn’t even be in the game and that Ohio was going to put up 300 yards passing on Florida. Florida beat Ohio 41 to 14 for the national title and Ohio only put up about 80 yards passing. Did my heart some good.

I was at that game and being from West Virginia it’s amazing how cocky and arrogant the Clemson fans were and how quiet and dumbfounded they were the entire game and the coolest part was meeting a couple blokes from Australia that were diehard mountaineer fans hell they even had tattoos of our mascot and said we’d be surprised how popular our football team was over there very cool and the Aussie guys were amazing cool people

I remember this game vividly because right after the 3rd quarter all of the "majority" of Clemson "fans" began moving towards the exits, to beat the traffic of course. I am WVU's biggest fan and I can't stand the level that we have fallen nor the compliancy of our fans. Dana couldn’t recruit a quarterback after that display. He benefited from Bill and Rich’s players. Dana left the program in decline and coach Brown has tried to rebuild under terrible circumstances. If Brown had inherited a robust team he probably would be successful but unfortunately he seems he can’t. West Virginia should be a team to be reckoned with and now it’s a doormat!

Lol Dana had a 10-3 season with Skylar Howard at QB in 2016, same record as this orange bowl team and it was in the Big 12 a tougher conference than the Big East. Also you must be forgetting about Will Grier who was a stud. People who say Dana left nothing for Brown know nothing about football. Excuses excuses excuses is all I ever hear to defend Brown. He’s just not any good. Dana was finding junior college players and turning them into NFL draft picks. How many players has Brown got to the NFL? I’m hoping Brown can turn things around and have his first really solid season as head coach this year, but we have a very tough schedule. I want Brown to succeed, but it’s year 5, it’s now or never. We’re way past the point where we can blame Brown’s failures on Dana Holgerson, which is ridiculous in the first place.

Look at the Americas Vote though....of those that voted almost 75% predicted Clemson as well and if you factor in those that didn't vote that year it probably would have been closer to 85% for Clemson to win so it wasn't just Herbie. Oh and they all thought Clemson would handily beat WVU. WVU just happened to have their best game that year against Clemson and Clemson their worse. Clemson that year beat #11 Florida State than #11 Virginia Tech the next week, and Virginia Tech again when they were ranked #5 in the ACC Championship West Virginia beat absolutely nobody that year and got blown out by LSU.

I thought it was cute when the Mountaineers tried to turn 3d and 10 into 3d and 5 simply by lining up in the wrong spot against Penn State. Also cute was keeping your coaches on the field while the play clock was running, forcing a Penn State time out.
