Zenith is headed into a wall. Every AD has all the models on display, nothing moving. Their boutique is desperately empty all day. Now they release some atrocity that brings them so close to Hublot they might as well merge.

I love AP and I have multiple but, this Travis Scott collab is whack and is actually making me rethink the brand.

The new IWC Ingenieur was both a win and a loss. The design was certainly a win but the market position with regards to price is definitely a loss. As far as brans go, I say Christopher Ward had numerous standouts in the last year. With the exception of Vacheron, I would argue that the other two pillars of the holy trinity has sub-par years where they are losing their identity.

Opinion on Breitling buying Universal Geneve? personally Im excited, hopefully theu bring back modern iterations of the polerouter, compax, shadows, etc.

The Aqua Terra with the horizontal teak deck dial is my favorite watch ever, but the new AT design does nothing for me. It's too shiny, too generic, too Rolex OP. Also, it's more expensive than the 41mm model with the 8900 movement, which is just WTF? Though I expect it sells well anyway...

John, have a great holiday season! I was eagerly anticipating the Omega Aqua Terra until I saw them in person. The pastel colors were not appealing. I guess because the Rolex OP colors were much brighter.

Great watch John P! Chopard is underrated brand IMO. H Moser is possibly the best value high horology brand. The smaller size Pioneer is an excellent offering for people with smaller wrists. Zenith has every right to build the Chronomaster Sport. After all the Daytona won’t be around if it wasn’t for the El Primero movement. The hyper designs Zenith is pushing are influenced by the RM, AP and Hublot. This hype is dying out though. Spot on the Aqua Terra 38. Inferior watch with an inferior movement. They should’ve used the 8900 movement. Merry Christmas!

I like the Tambour. But even if you don't, I fail to see how the movement isn't considered "in-house." LV owns La Fabrique du Temps.

IWC Ingenieur is undoubtedly a success. The most slick and definitive version. Fantastic dial and wears wonderfully. This is a bargain Genta designed watch and it is no surprise it trades at a premium in the grey market……

Love yours and Federico’s channels but you’re wrong about the new aquaterra. Terra cotta dial is stunning and rounded bracelet with some polish is an improvement. Luckily my wrists aren’t that hairy! Maybe you should have a Brazilian wax?😉

Love your vids John but i think you're wrong about the Tambour by LV. Yeah, it's overpriced for what it is (what isn't in this industry) but with the backing of Fabrique du temps headed by Barbasini and Navas, how can you say that that is a slap in the face to collectors? They are two of the most prolific complications designers in the industry and that shows you how commitwd LV are to watchmaking. Watch this space - LV are the dark horse in the coming decade.

There are people with bigger wrists that would appreciate bigger watches. So Zenith having a bigger offering is not a bad thing. If they start offering ALL their watches in big and weird and gaudy designs then its a problem. Their new pilot rainbow chronograph at 43 is surprisingly wearable even for me with a smaller wrist.

I would think you would say yes, no or make an offer. The lack of communication is disappointing. I've reached out to you all on different occasions and have never heard back. Regarding colaborations: I think Rolex was/is still doing a good job by waterproofing it's first Oyster in the channel, also PanAm and Comex colaborations are just straight forward and common sense colabs. Also Longines, Omega and Fortis are to me in the same category. Although, diving records have become a bit silly recently between Omega and Rolex, but it still serves a purpose to improve the products. To me AP is going with their Royal Oaks a terrible way, look at this Marvel colaborations or even worse with this 1017 ALYX 9SM (what we're they thinking!). To me, most of the Richmont and LVMH brands have to mainly aim for profit, but lost a significant portion of their soul. Let's see what George Kern is doing with Universal Geneve, in my opinion he should still concentrate on Breitling since there is still plenty to do.

AP has done so many mishaps in the last year or two that people who are still defending them now are fanboys who have invested in hundreds of thousands of dollars or more in that brand.

The Thierry Natif years at Zenith were bonkers, but looking back on them he was clearly ahead of his time. The Defy Xtreme collection was ugly as hell, but they pioneered the use of exotic materials and design, and brought wider attention to a brand that was increasingly stale and behind the times. Natif brought in the oversized trend before it was trendy, and if the man himself hadn't been madder than a box of frogs, it could easily have been Zenith riding the hype train that Richard Mille hopped on a few short years later.

Surprised you were so down on Parmigiani Fleuier, sure they may've been a bit low key, but if you know they exist you're likely to be a fan of what they're doing. They've gotten a bit of marketing pump in too on YT from what I've seen. The PF Minute Rattrapante was one of my favourite complications of the year personally. The Cartier Normale Skeleton was a knock out win as well. Chopard's LUC Chiming watch is gorgeous too. I think one of the biggest fails of the year was the new "sporty" Calatravas, I don't really know who Patek was aiming those at. At least the purple world time made up for it.
