@@vegasmitch1472 It look like sharks do not consider people as their food. On the other hand they attack people mostly in such cases: 1. A man in water is woonded and bleeding; 2. Shark is extremly hungry, exausted or with mental disorder; 3. They attack surfers, when siluet of surfing board and surfer on it resembles a seal - their food. But often sharks prefer to keep away from people.

Edit: I have been seeing the turtle vs stingray debate over the past few weeks. I went back and did a frame by frame review and I stand corrected, it is a stingray, saw the long whiplash tail.

Samoa, 1981. I’m snorkeling ten feet from shore in very shallow water looking at the coral and I get a feeling something is looking at me. I look to the right toward the open ocean and saw nothing. Then I got a chill feeling and looked to the left and sure enough there was a three foot white tip shark giving me the eye. No doubt had been debating whether or not to take a bite. I swam at it and it bailed.

A couple years ago when visiting Florida i was about waist deep at the beach and a dark figure passed by me in the water so close I could have taken a step and touched it. I'm 6 ft and this thing was bigger than me so I was a bit shocked but it just kept calmly cruising parallel to the shore through the groups of people. At the time I thought maybe it was a seal but I guess it could've been a shark.

You shouldn't swim away anyway. The movement of your legs through the water makes the shark (who is hard of sight) think you're and overgrown injured fish. The best thing to do is go as still as you can until it gets close enough to realize you aren't a snack. In the case of tigers and great whites, however, which will eat anything, wait till it gets close and then quickly flip it over. This will temporarily disorient the shark long enough for you to get away.

Actually slight over share I’ve even dived a known tiger spot in basically the worst visibility you can imagine. To give you an idea I couldn’t see my very long diving fins, couldn’t see past my calves actually. Thinking back that was a terrible idea but even then didn’t find one. Yeah buddy sorry to break it to you but sharks are a lot harder to find than you think especially big ones to my disappointment. Now that doesn’t mean you should go in the water and be dumb, do be aware of your surroundings.
