So far we've had the gravity wells of some big planets acting as "interceptors" for some of the shots taken at us & we've already taken a few smaller hits over time but we're still on the bullseye & we can't dodge them all forever...

Loved it. The deep narrative voice and the operatic background music was a good combination. Dodge ball in space? Who would have thought it? It was worth it just to catch the ending with the scoreboard and Queens 'We will rock you at the end". Welcome to the future sports fans. LMAOH

Classical music hits the stem of our ancestry when heard. I never hear enough of it! It's like the foundation of everything else! I was raised in and brought up in a town/city of 4-5 million, we used to have a classical radio station 24hrs a day, WKLS! When the corporates took over, they destroyed everything, and left not SO level ground! Now a rock station, and then a I-dont-know-what station, so in '98, I quit tv & radio since they were all controlled by the same tasteless people. Lummy Natty! So when ever I hear a true piece of music, I give high acclaims! HIGH ACCLAIMS on the soundtrack! Thank you, also recognised a voice I know... WOODWARDTV! Glad to see quality traveling in the same circles, thanks! To every one!

Unless that ball has zero mass, someone wasn't paying attention in physics class regarding conservation of mass, velocity, and momentum go. But hey, it's sci-fi, where physics is set aside!
@PabloVestory

That makes it Fantasy, not Sci-Fi. Same with all the incountable collection of movies that add absurd sounds to everything in the vaccum of space. In proper Sci Fi physics can be crazy or very unlikely, but at least it must have some plausability

"[...] composed of *billions* of galaxies, which in turn are composed of *millions* of solar systems composed of *hundreds of thousands* of stars; all in harmony." I'd love to say this is what you get when you let jocks write your SF, but the truth is that most SF writers would have gotten it as wrong as this, if not worse. SF writers have no sense of scale.

AlucardNoir It was a parody...
@AlucardNoir
@AlucardNoir 5 жыл бұрын
Alex Castro ...ehh, see, you say that, but as far as I'm concerned, if you don't make it clear something is supposed to be a parody then I have to treat it like something you said, or recorded as the case may be, in earnest. It's the same way I treat "comedies" if it makes me laugh it's a comedy, if it doesn't then it's not. I still remember when Gray's Anatomy season one came out - they actually used the word drama in the description, when the writers strike ended they had reclassified the show as a dramedy. The author is dead, it's not the makers of short movies, writers or books and graphic novels, developers of games etc., etc. that decide what they're product is, it's the audience and how they react. The first 90% of this short goes too far in the serious direction to be able to claim it was a parody. The punchline, as it were, just isn't funny enough to justify all the budget and feel of the first 90% of the short. And before you say, that that first part was soooo absurd it had to be a parody... yeah, there's a reason "SF writers have no sense of scale" is an extremely well known trope/cliche. When the people that you are parodying say the same things you say, just that they do it in earnest... it becomes rather hard to distinguish parody from earnest ignorance and stupidity.

AlucardNoir Because of how incorrect and joked out everything is, you'd obviously know this is SOME kind of parody... Why did you need to write a college essay, waste your time, and (or) even decide to comment? I'm not trying to be rude or appeal that way, but are you being serious???

Brilliant and spot on! Silly monkeys don't know why, so they just keep pitching games as they reach for the sky. Nature doesn't care if you understand what she has put before you, only that you fulfill her commission. Your motivations and diversions are entirely your own problem. Play ball! Meanwhile, they have more or less populated the galaxy with a trillion species, unaware that that alone was the point all along. Big forebrains, opposable thumbs, uncontrolled curiosity, and enough metallurgy to get it done. Stare into the fire, little monkey. The crackling of the embers and the cackling of your enthusiasm is sufficient to the task, if only you listen to your mistress at last. To the stars!

We have not been evolving for billions of years. For the first three and a half billion years, there were only bacteria (simple life) until about 700 million years ago when LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor) was born and complex life (us, all plants and animals) was created with Mitochondria. Also, it is greed that drives the Human race, not a thirst for knowledge (if it was knowledge, we would have given up on superstitions and gods). Damn fine short movie though! I loved it! Although the facial expressions kinda gave it away.
