Thanks for all the love on this video everyone. Just a couple mistakes I made in this video that you guys were nice enough to point out: The Citizen Nighthawk has a Japanese quartz movement and the Timex Marlin is a manually wound watch and not an automatic piece. I am working on a video for watches from $300-$1,000. The list is going to be packed!! If you have any recommendations for that I would appreciate your feedback.

Actually, the style originates from Junghans Max Bill from 1960. It started the Bauhaus style watches trend (that Daniel Wellington, Tissot Everytime and other similars are inspired from)

Mihajlo D it’s pretty bad 100 bucks will last you a year max, even if you take care of it. It will chip, scratch and won’t have the original aesthetic fast whereas if you splurge just a bit more for a tissot or even Victorinox you’re getting Swiss quality for the price of a cheap Chinese made Daniel Wellington

Seiko's SNA411 Flightmaster used to be in this price range. However, I believe they have discontinued it and it now goes for $300 and up. There are newer Flightmaster models out there including the Seiko SND253 (black dial), the SND255 (blue dial), the SSC013 (white dial) and the SSC009P3 (black dial). All of these watches are chronographs and really sharp...and less than $200! The Timex Waterbury line is also a pretty attractive group of watches that are under $140. I have a cheap $40 Wenger 72801 that has a field watch look to it and Swiss quartz movement that looks decent with a NATO strap. Hope this helps.

Man, it's refreshing to see some great choices that aren't fashion brands. A lot of great suggestions here. From the brands you looked at, I'd also add the Seiko SNK803, and 805 for much the same reasons as the 809, as well as the Timex Waterbury line. I'd add a good Vostok Amphibia as well, add on a new bezel and a nice strap and it's a unique and durable automatic dive watch. Also I think that Dan Henry has some good looking watches as well. I like the vintage inspired look of their chronographs and dive watch quite a lot.

These guides are AMAZING. I don’t have the budget to buy a lot of 1-3K+ watches, so it’s awesome to see a a few lovelies at lower price points that have history and style. Your higher range guides give me pieces to work toward and research on my own. Great work! Have you considered a video on good/safe marketplaces to find collectible watches?

Hey Teddy, love the content you are creating. I have always liked watches, but never really took the time to get familiar with them. But after I stated watching your videos I have gotten interested in finding out more avout watches and watch movements. I also just got my first mechanical watch. The Orient Bambino, open heart version. Got that one because I am not a fan of the date window. But, regarding this video. What do you think about Festina watches? Would they be a good addition to this list? As I understand their automatic versions use citizen movements. But I could not find any info about which particular movement.

Vostok Amphibia line are probably the best diver watches available under 1000. They're Russian made divers with a pretty good variety, and almost all of them go fro about $80 US. They are durable as hell, waterproof to about 200m, look fantastic on a NATO or stock strap, and are almost all automatics, which makes it one of the cheapest automatic watches you can buy. They were the first watch I ever bought, and I think everyone should at least take a look at them.

Hi! Your videos are awesome and come just in time since I'm on the hunt for a decent $100-$200 watch. So far I've found a Timex Intelligent Quartz, a Diesel and a Citizen Ecosphere (all of them totally black). Would you recommend the Timex over the other two? It is the cheapest of the pack but it has Indigo light. The Diesel one looks manly and solid but the Citizen looks like it will last a lifetime. Which one would you recommend?

Great choices! One thing to bear in mind is the diameter of some of the watches on your list. I recently bought both the Seiko Snk793 and the Seiko snk809 and they are quite traditionally sized (36mm) - ie smallish compared to the average contemporary style of 40-46mm. You have to not care about size (no double entendre intended) when you wear these watches on your wrist. Especially noticeable in London where I live, where so many woman are now wearing 40+mm “boyfriend” watches. So if you’re insecure or a fashion junky maybe give them a miss. However the Seikos are amazing watches for the price and a nice change (and better quality) than the ubiquitous DWs. I especially love the Seiko snk809 as it is so versatile and has an iconic look with that flieger type B military dial.

I have to agree with Kris Handsome. Very nice to see a whole slew of cool watches in the $50 to $150 range that are cool as hell and not a Vincero or Movement or the Fifth brand of watch. Teddy, in another video you briefly showed your personal watch collection. I did not see a watch with a metal watch band. I"m wondering if there is a reason you steer clear of metal watch bands. Thanks for the videos...

I'm one of those people who you'd probably categorise as falling into the "fashion victim" category. Like you, I inherited my grandfather's watch, plain cream-white face with golden linear hour marks, it was I recall labelled "Smith" and a bi-daily old-fashioned wind-up watch with a solid gold case, and therefore with a slightly concave glass front, no rear entry or way-in, and it was mounted on a sprung-stretch link gold-plated bracelet. I adored this watch, and it only stopped working when over a decade later younger cousins put it in a cup of tea, after which I still treasured and kept it but always told too expensive to repair. Sadly, long since stolen in a house burglary. I really liked the Timex Marlin you showed. I have a plain, minimal Vincero Kairo with a silvery case, plain linear digits on a tan leather strap which I really like and tbh have veered away all these years from the big-name expensive watches that are either Divers, Aviators, or some other super macho sport covered with excessive numbers, dials, digits and protruding buttons. Like yourself, I am only 9 stone and very slight-framed with tiny wrists so even the traditionally smaller faces almost fill my wrist whilst those such as (sorry, vomit) Diesel are almost 50% wider in diameter than my tiny wrist. Recently discovered you, I adore your taste and admire your collection, and you have given me some great thoughts on which to ponder. So - thank you Teddy.

I'm a big fan of the Dan Henry line, all of which hover just around the $200 mark. For $190, the "1947" is an extraordinarily elegant looking timepiece. And if you're not pedantic about origins, I picked up a nice Chinese "Holuns" dress watch with an automatic movement last year for $50 (new) that looks sharp and has been just as reliable as my Seiko Cocktail time. I know a lot of people look askance at Sea Gull and other lower cost Chinese movements, but so far (crossing my fingers) it hasn't let me down. I may even add a few others like it someday if it continues to run without complaint....

Victorinox Infantry.... Quartz movement, sapphire crystal around $200 but was able to get a Massdrop special for $99. Only downside to me is the 23mm lug. Similar to the Orient Bambino with 21mm lug gives fewer strap options. BTW, have the Gen 2 Version 3 Braehous design in Gray dial... Picked up for $130, replaced strap with nice gloss leather one from Long Island Watch ($50) and have a great looking dress watch under $200. The Seiko SKX 013 is great for smaller wrist. But the Seiko SNE049 Blue Dial With Solar under $150 is worth a look. And yes, the Citizen BM8180 is a great field watch for price but mineral crystal scratches easy which is why I prefer sapphire and the Victorinox Swiss line.

Suggest a follow up vid on buying used watches with cautionary eye at the junk being sold. (Reference: Spencer Klein’s KZfaq channel on that subject). Cheers.

the above video is also a reason you dont ignore other brands. Long Island watches, Teddy Baldassarre they both i appreciate them. if asking me getting grails of my is not important .important for me is to meet you both first

I was looking at Citizen Eco Drive Military Chronograph AT0200-05E , it's a bit bigger with 39mm case and a chronograph but looks the same as BM8180-03E

Hey Teddy, nice videos. I was watching a video of yours I don't remember which one but you happen to mention a Chinese watchmaker I forgot the name of it. Could you help me out? And also I would like to know where I can buy straps (nylon & leather) for my sea urchin

I think Pulsar and Victorinox - Swiss Army are two brands that also deserve a mention.

For a present to my son for his 16th birthday, what do you think about Bering Slim Classic or a Casio Sapphire? Both of them in the minimalist white dial and leather bracelet version and arround 90$
