After visiting Baselworld 2018 we've been anticipating getting the new Tudor Black Bay GMT M79830RB-0001 in the office.
Today Ben sits down with this new release to go through the unboxing process and a few of his initial thoughts!

Before I tried one on, I thought the thickness would be an issue. However, it sat on my wrist really well and the thickness was fine. I have a 6.75'' wrist FYI...

That's the right thing to do, I did the same before to buy my Tudor BB GMT. The majority of the people are talking about that the thickness of this watch is an issue but never tried the watch, they repeat the same thing like ships.

I like the chunky case of the Black Bay & i like the overall aesthetic of every individual release but enough already. I really hope they move in a different direction in the future & concentrate on an all new timepiece instead.

With the Black Bay, Tudor has hit on something which not only is very classic, versatile and timeless but also very popular with customers. Tudor are doing some exciting things at the moment so we may see a completely new timepiece soon!

I’ve just got this watch myself. I would love you to make a video of this watch with some straps that you produce just to give me and many others a idea of what straps would suit this item.

Very attractive watch (more attractive than the Rolex imo). It’s the Black Bay 58 I’m most looking forward to seeing.

I think so too. It's that thin bezel and thin lugs that make it sexy. If they ever make one in the same dimensions of the BB 58, I'm buying one immediately.

The bezel colour/finish is my personal favourite part of the BB GMT. There are many of us in the office who really like the BB58 as well, stay tuned! Thanks, Tim

I’ve had mine for a week and really love it, has more wrist time than my Rolex. In certain lighting the blue looks almost black.

Nice looking watch. Getting around the hype of the Rolex, I think this watch seems just as good or more so if you are more into this styling. I think it is a bit expensive though. Grey market is showing 1% off retail so pretty much like 4k.

I've been waiting for Tudor to bring out a GMT for sooo long. Feel like they've just missed the mark in term of case size. The new 58 39mm would have been perfect. Tho im pleasantly pleased they chamfered the side/case back givin it better flow on the wrist. A feature not present on my ETA BB or any other BB to be exact

Case size is always a tough one. For every one person out there wanting a 38mm, there is another who wants a 44mm version. Many of us here at WG do agree with you regarding the 58, great size!

Yes, you are right and everyone is different. For my wrist size, 41mm sits much better than 39mm, in fact before I bought this GMT, I bought a Tudor BB Heritage, 41mm, for the same reason.

What is your view about having an aluminium bezel at this price point ?

Personally, after spending some time with both Black Bay and BB GMT it isn't a problem at all. The anodised and matt finish to their bezels make them feel very appropriate as tool watches. Remember there was a time when all watches featured aluminium bezels as standard and many of those are still going strong

I really love this watch, but the insert is a deal breaker for me, just a personal thing, I hate scratched inserts. If they ever did a ceramic on this, it would be close to perfect

This watch soo thick! The dial face is disproportionally shallow. There is room for a couple of storage draws on the side of this watch it’s so thick. Clunky is a good word.

Nice HD video. The watch: $4000 and problems. The size is like a tank and that's a problem. Problem with a sticking date indicator. This is a big design problem. Chunky bracelet without a quick adjustment. In 2018 this is a problem. There is always the next year. This watch needs some improvements. I will not drop $4000 on a watch with those issues. Let's wait and see.
