I was about 16 at the time and I still remember it vividly. I saw the 2nd plane crash live on TV. In school all we did was watch the news coverage. Even during lunch time students and teachers gathered around the TVs and watched; shaking our heads in silent disbelief. It didn't matter where you were in America - everyone felt it. It's like everything stopped for an entire day.

I remember that the PM of Australia at the time (John Howard), offered an 'all expenses paid' trip to Australia for all NYC first responders and their families if any of them would like it; a few took him up on the offer and came over. They were treated like rock stars, literally people lining up at the bar they were eating at to buy them their next round of beers. I remember seeing that on the news at the time, but haven't been able to find any old reports about it online since then.

I was 15 and home sick from school with one of the worse colds I’ve ever had while chatting with random idiots on an online chat forum until I heard my mom loudly gasp “oh my god!” I then yelled back from my room “mom is everything ok?” And when she didn’t answer I got up and had a really bad gut feeling and that’s when I saw my worried mom staring at the TV in disbelief and the news coverage of what was happening. This was just one those days in my life that I will never forget.

22 years ago today I was a 9 year old in elementary school in science class and we were watching some nature documentary, and the principle came into the class looking very distraught and told my teacher to change the channel to the news, and that’s when we found out. I remember even us kids sat there in complete shock and silence, and my innocent perception of the world was instantly forever changed. We went home early after, and the school just had a really weird and depressing atmosphere for the rest of that week. RIP to all of the innocent lives that were tragically taken that day.

I'm from the uk and just before 9/11 happened I had bought a D2MAC SAT System with a moving dish that allowed me to watch practically Any Live TV Broadcasts from anywhere in the world and I stumbled over the very first Live streams and watched in absolute horror as events unfolded. I remember saying to my X Misses _"Those buildings' are going to collapse"_ Like Millions of others I watched the whole thing for hours and hours and it was truly horrific. But the thing that TO THIS DAY makes me sick to my stomach (and I'll Never forget it), was when I pointed my moving dish to the middle eastern Live Broadcasts only to see Thousands of people (from different Arab countries), actually 'Celebrating' in the streets. My mom and I couldn’t believe it, and we were both really worried as we had relatives in New York at that time but luckily were nowhere near the towers. Of course my driving test was canceled and I did it another day but it was a dark day and the world truly changed forever since then. In my mind this is when the 21st century really started.

It was my first year teaching, and only 2nd week, iirc, anyway, I taught art at an elementary school. The librarian from across the hall came to the art room door during a morning class and signaled me over and whispered that a big plane had hit the WTC. At my 10 min break, I went to the teachers’ lounge and the VP was crying and a few other teachers were watching a TV that had been placed in there, most, in stunned silence. Not quite an hour later, (was it 50 minutes between hits?) during another one of my 50 minute classes, the librarian came to my classroom once again to quietly tell me that ANOTHER jet had hit the other tower. Some parents began picking up their children from school after that. I just remember that _I could not wait_ to go home and watch the news. Of, course, not that most of us had to be told to, but the administration sent the staff an urgent email directive instructing us not to discuss what was happening with the students at all, in order to not upset them, as they had no idea what had happened, and naturally, that was for their own parents to do, first…seemingly, so unlike it is nowadays.

I’ll never forget the morning of 9/11. It was absolutely horrific. I can’t imagine what the victims went through that day. I’m assuming this was later that day or even a day or two later. Reason why is the twin tower attacks happened fairly early in the morning. I had not even gotten dressed for the day when the news broke that morning. Most ppl I knew on that day (CST time zone) were driving to work or hadn’t even left for work yet. That looks like full plates of dinner foods in a restaurant or maybe some type of pub that also serves wings or something. Plus most bars aren’t open 7-8 in the morning.

I remember getting home from college here in the UK. My Mum was a secretary at a small rehab centre for people with physical disabilities. I turned on the tv & watched in disbelief as the first plane hitting the first tower was replayed. Totally stunned & not sure what to think, I picked up the phone & called my Mum at work & broke the news to her & her colleagues. I just stood watching in total disbelief & shock, while relaying the events unfolding to my Mum & her colleagues until someone got up & turned on a tv at the rehab centre & drew everyone's attention to what was going on. No matter where you were in the world, you never forget where you were or what your were doing when it happened, & realise that the horror & grief you were feeling would have been multiplied goodness knows how many times for the people of the US.

As the event unfolded, the boss set up a tv in the conference room and we all stopped work to watch. Then we saw the second plane hit live on air. It was chilling and surreal. We were all discussing what could’ve happened when one of the guys jumped up with his hands on his head and yelled “oh my god it’s collapsed!” then all went quiet. It was eerie. And that unknown feeling of what would happen next was OVERWHELMING.

Can't believe that was 22 years ago today already! I had just started 3rd grade and my sister 1st. We will never understand why such a terrible plane crash happened in New York and nearly 3,000 people lost their lives far too soon....... This is most likely a day so many Americans will never forget.

In Texas, I wasn’t in school yet. The school called and said not to come. We turned on the tv and I remember them replaying the video of the second plane crash. At 5 1/2 years old, I remember seeing people in the top of the building, but it was after 2011 before I actually found out about people jumping from the building. I remember going into my bedroom to watch Thomas the Tank Engine, and by the time I came out, both building had collapsed.

I was sick that day and not working. I was 30 years old at the time and stayed in bed. I switched on the TV suspecting nothing and CNN had just begun their coverage of the first plane, maybe 5 minutes after the first crash. At that time I had been on the Twin Towers 5 times and could not believe what I was seeing. I still have the 1999 admission ticket for the observation deck and some pics with me standing in front of that globe on the Plaza, not knowing what was going to happen 2 years later. It feels surreal when I watch these photos!

The look of sheer horror was on the faces of most. I remember my company closing down because our corporate offices were in New York. Just an awful day, I was working from home as I needed to take my 5 year old to the pediatrician & I remember her saying, mommy are we going to go on fire while we were driving. We were the only ones on the road. The pediatrician office was open the receptionist wanted to watch it on TV & I remember the office manager looking at her aghast wondering why she would even ask that question. The office manager was clueless. The towers had not come down at that point, by the time we left with the doctor the first tower came down. I didn't have time to protect my daughter from the breaking news from CNN and by then we were in shock. After that everything changed for the worst.

After working a 12 hour shift overnight, I came home from work at 7 am Pacific time, September 11, 2001. I turned on the TV to watch the events. Every channel had news of the attacks, even the independent, non-affiliated channels had the news from CNN or a NYC TV channel. I watched until I fell asleep a few hours later.

I was on a golf course. It seemed like there was nobody out there and we had the place to ourselves. Then we made the turn and went in the clubhouse and that explained the empty course. The bonus is we had to get back on a military base, we just had the morning off. Spent about 6 hours waiting to get on base. I had only been in for a year at that point, but it was obvious things were going to change. Spent most of the next 4 years deployed.

"Loose Change" changed my whole view of this tragedy. I spent the last few years before I turned 18, fuming that I couldn't be a part of OIF1....joined the Army at 18 still pissed about 9/11. Then about 2 years in, "Loose Change" came out, and blew my mind. The fighting spirit turned into disgust towards our government. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. It's like somebody shooting your brother, then telling you they will help you look for him...knowing they did it.
