I attempt to watch as many Oscar nominated movies of 2023 before the actual Oscars.
This is NOT a reaction video. It's a mix of me reviewing these movies as well as snippets of my everyday life throughout the week.
I've never posted a video like this before, so I'd really appreciate your feedback!

Hi Everyone! In this video, I attempt to watch as many Oscar nominated movies before the Oscars. I technically had a little over a week (but 1 week sounded like a better title). This video is NOT. reaction video. But a combination of reviewing different Oscar nominated movies, as well as vloging my life throughout the week. So...a movie vlog? This style of video was actually really engaging! I’ve seen 16/39 of the nominated films (and I’m actually seeing The Quiet Girl in 2 hours). My favorites were Everything Everywhere obviously but also Close. Close is SO beautiful and visceral and I HIGHLY recommend it if you have time to get to it. In the first half of the film, I literally wanted to jump into the world of the movie because it was like… so bright and free.

👏👏👏👏👏 I thoroughly Enjoyed this entire video ☺️☺️👍. Many of the nominations were well deserved. I'm honestly Biased towards E.E.A.A.O. as a child of immigrants and moreso as a Human being who is still learning how to navigate & fit into a world of my own (even tho I'm Old A.F. 🤭🤣🥺) I immediately purchased the movie after my 1st viewing. Great Job Steph☺️👏☺️👏. Def enjoyed this format and Seeing the beautiful landscapes of The Philippines. P.s. I totally geeked out when you inserted that Degrassi Clip (Liberty & JT ) then immediately Got a tightness in my chest 🥺🥺 Cause I remember what happens to him 😭😭😭.

Such a fun idea, Steffi!! I tried my own Oscars challenge this year with Gold being watching all 54 of the shorts and feature films. Silver being watching at least 60 of the 120 nominations. And bronze being watching at least one nomination from each of the 23 categories... I'm hoping to watch a few more before tomorrow but I've seen at least one film from 22/23 categories, 62/120 nominations, and 16/54 nominated films. I'd recommend Marcel the Shell over GDT's Pinocchio.

Hi, Steffi! LOVE your review and format. I have done the same thing--watch "best picture" category and then the rest. I have nearly watched them all, with the exception of "Whale", "Banshees". I'm really glad that more movies were available through streaming services that made them available to a wider audience. 😊

I love Triangle of Sadness. The acting by the whole cast was incredible. But I was talking with my brother about it recently, and he said even though Dolly De Leon’s acting was very good, he said her character wasn’t believable. And there would be no way a middle-aged Filipino woman would be doing what she did in the movie! 😂

I really liked this video. I haven’t seen all the movies nominated for Best Picture but I have seen all the movies nominated that I care about seeing and are available (damn you Close and The Quiet Girl for being unavailable!). I adore watching people talk about the Oscar’s so I loved this video overall.

So yeah, Triangle is my favorite of this year’s Oscars. I HATED and was incredibly BORED with EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE, yes I’m Asian! 😂. If you wanna see a much better film about a similar subject, watch Ang Lee’s 1993 film “THE JOY LUCK CLUB.” It’s a beautiful film.

btw after you mentioned ✨tension✨ in top gun and remembered a bi paradise movie "the hunger, 1983" which was debut movie from late tony scott, big recommendation if you love vampires and bowie

I loved this vlog, I've missed you! Unfortunately I watched very few of the nominated films, some I wanted to see in the cinema and I couldn't. But since I'm argentine, what interests me the most in these Oscars is that Argentina 1985 wins the award for best foreign film, although I'm aware that it will be very unlikely since it competes with All Quiet On The Western Front, which is also in the category of best film 😕

It’s great to be back. Actually critics were thinking that “Argentina, 1985” was the front runner in that category until “All Quiet” started getting major awards recognition. So you never know! 🤷🏽‍♀️

Decision to Leave is the most painful snub for me bc it’s far and away my favourite movie of 2022 and it got no love. Dolly de Leon’s snub also hurt cause after Kerry Condon she was my favourite supporting actress performance

That’s been on my list for the LONGEST time! Heard it was so much fun. Glad it’s on Netflix at the very least. Heard it’s the front runner for Best Original Song.
