Jerma is absolutely the primary target audience for every single infomercial. The guy was ready to invest good sums of money into almost every product whose infomercial popped onto screen…except of course when Chat pointed this out to him, where he then lied and pretended he hated the very next infomercial he saw

How is it that Jerma interprets it wrong as if they were going to give a winner $40M, and never gets corrected on it for the entire stream? It's clearly a marketing trick but it was probably just giving away """$40M worth""" of product in a sweepstakes or something
@tylerryan713
@tylerryan713 Жыл бұрын
@@GnesThenic The part where the chefs were trying to beat the rocket chef was the 40M giveaway. If they had won they would have gotten 40m. All they said was "We'll tell you about a 40 million giveaway promotion.", they didn't say you could win it. If they had told you about a 40mil state lottery draw happening next week completely unrelated to to the product or infomercial that statement would still be true.

Kids have been viewed as money factories for ages and ages. It just took a while for people to realize that targeting them with computers and the Internet wasn't only viable, but cheaper and super unregulated. You can shit out random nonsense and it doesn't have to get approved by a bunch of adults running a television channel, you just upload it and wait for the kids' autoplay to do the work for you.

Cooking a whole ass fish with potatoes in a white wine sauce *at a tailgate party*, and then they're cooking pasta and the one guy is like "we're big campers." Any lower-income person I know would be like "who the fuck cooks pasta on a camping trip?" But I guess wealthy suburbanites who only camp in RVs do? And then after these two "fancy" meals, it cuts to fucking chicken nuggets and grilled cheese. I'm his age and I can't properly explain how boring the 90s were. Infomercials were easily in the top 10 exciting things in my life.

Not that it wasn't already ridiculous but adjusted for inflation $40,000,000 in 1997 would be equal to $70,315,762.93 in today's currency.

The joys of waking up to the sounds of an orgreenic cooking pan commercial and seeing the host ride in on a fucking skateboard before smashing another brands nonstick pan with his own pan for no discernible reason.

I've never felt more in tune with the "He's Pretending" community than that first infomercial. I can't believe he's the exact demographic that would see a totally scripted ad and be like My god.... how ??

Jerma really unlocking his old man by slowly dragging his mouse to the corner of the screen to hit the "pause" button, honestly doesn't even surprise me that much at this point.
