We are starting a new show! We are really excited to introduce this new genre to our channel. In this video we are watching My Hero Academia Season 1 episode 1 "Izuku Midoriya: Origin". Izuku Midoriya desperately wants to be a hero, but he is one of the few in his generation born without a Quirk. Will meeting the number one hero, All Might, change his fate?
This video is for commentary and criticism only and is not a replacement for watching the full episode of My Hero Academia.

You have a new subscriber now. A lot of people will recommend you now a big list of animes, but not always those animes are for everyone, so if you really want to jump into anime, watch which is considered by many people, the best of all... Attack on titan, just check the first episode and you'll be hooked to it.

Fun Fact: while 80% population has quirks the 20% that don’t have powers are primary made up of people from previous generations who were born without powers. Izuku is actually an incredibly rare case in his generation.

Like, if among children 20% of them were quirkless, then Izuku should statistically have about 3 classmates in the same boat as him. The fact that he's treated as an anomaly means there aren't many quirkless kids in his school, if any at all. And quirk genes are apparently dominant. Conclusion? Izuku's genetically the equivalent of an albino.

It was one of the first three animes I watched all the way through. The first was Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, but I don't remember whether I watched MHA before or after Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Ricky Pedia My Hero Academia is currently four seasons long, even less than that when I first watched it. Same for Jojo's. You and I must have a very different definition of 'all the way through'.

@@CaptainSpycrab my definition is "episode 1 to the series finale". So, no, an ongoing series can not be watched "all the way through" because it hasn't even been made all the way through. I would say it can be caught up to, or all the way through to the most recent episode.

Avatar isn't an anime, because 'anime' only refers to shows made in Japan. (Avatar imitates a similar visual style, but is made in America, so it's what's referred to as 'animesque'.) I don't particularly care about the distinction myself, but I've seen other people get _angry_ about it.

Point of clarification: manga are the comic books, and anime are the shows (often based on manga, as is the case with MHA). It's cool you're using the term since a lot of anime viewers will kind of ignore the fact that manga exists, but your semantics are a little misplaced. A bit like saying you've watched Dark Horse comic books or read Netflix's The Umbrella Academy.

You're really going to like the rest of this show. It deals with a lot of really tough issues like bullying, abuse, and discrimination. There are a lot of complex characters and it is very similar to Sky High. If you like this show, I could only recommend other shows like Attack on Titan and Hunter x Hunter. I love your reactions by the way!

Dont know how u go from MHA to Attack on Titan....That shows overrated in my opinion lot of shock value and gore but not too great. Dont think its what they looking for.

That's your opinion, and I respect that. I just suggested a popular anime that many people find enjoyable and showcases that not all anime is about attractive females or has a cute story line. I wasn't implying that they would love it, and I wasn't demanding they watch it.

@@maxrusty3596 The plot in my opinion is one of the best cases of world building in an anime. I've seen in a while. It starts as gore, but it definitely dives deep once you get used to the world.

It's an ok dub, way better sub. The dub actors all sound the same and are so bland. The Japanese voice actors put way more heart and emotion into it.

Hello! Newcomer to the channel here, I’ve been watching a lot of different people react to this show, but I feel like you bring something different and unique to your reactions coming from a non-anime background, which I really enjoy! It’s refreshing to hear you make connections and comparisons to Western media like Umbrella Academy and The Boys rather than just comparing it to other anime. Also, noting the Cowboys cap and you guys saying you’re from Texas, fun fact that the company Funimation responsible for dubbing and distributing this show is based in Flower Mound, so many of the dub voice actors are also from Texas! I think MHA is a very accessible anime which is why it is reaching a particularly wide audience, and also no surprise considering western society’s obsession with superheroes and superhero media. You’ll definitely enjoy this anime and I’m looking forward to seeing your reactions! Happy watching!^^

Ah what a special start you guys are having, I'm glad you're so into it already, and Izuku pretty much makes it easy. We care about him IMMEDIATELY. XD Anyway, there are a few differences between the English and Japanese versions, which I'm sure people will tell you about, but honestly, English is just as good as Japanese in terms of the voice-acting, sometimes better, sometimes not, but it'll be easier for you to consume as English-speakers. Welp! Off to binge the rest of your reactions! XD

Let's gooo~! MHA hype! The story is really deep, and the character development is one of the best I've ever seen. I hope you enjoy the crazy ride this show gives. :D And, to me, both the dub and sub are fantastic. Plus, truly, that's your choice anyway. This is a really good show to start getting into anime. I loved you guys before, but I love you even more now. I didn't know that was possible, but then you decided to react to MHA. It's such a fantastic show and if you like character development, with a supporting cast that don't blend into the background, then you're going to love this. I know everyone is going to say "Wow, this show is amazing", but this is one of those times where it isn't being over dramatic. There's a lot of anime, this really is a stand out. You two seem to love great stories,character development and deep questions of motivation on the personal and society level. I'm surprised you're getting at it now. First couple of episodes are a little slow, but...DAMN they pick up quick.Then you're hooked.

In my opinion, if you want to grow your channel super quick, react to anime. Especially something like Naruto or One Piece. Not that you guys need to do any of that, it's all about watching things you enjoy, the growth will come naturally. Regardless, glad to see you guys throwing your hat in the anime ring.

Oh boy, this is gonna be a _good_ one! 🤩 Be _very_ careful with copyright claims and/or strikes, though... some anime companies can be extremely annoying when it comes to that nonsense, and many channels have had to resort to putting the actual reaction in a separate site (simply linking to an unlisted youtube video doesn't seem to work for long), heavily editting the video and audio, adding transparency or obscuring parts or most of it, or doing full length reactions without the actual video, providing instead a timer so us viewers can know when to start playing our own source...

@@DosCavazos No problem! Happy to be here ^^. Most people consider episode one and two, together, as the actual first episode. If that makes sense lol. I look forward to your reactions! Also, I see everyone freaking out about Attack on Titan in the comments. Lol it's a great show but it's so dark and messed up, you might wanna slowly work your way up to it😅. If you even decide to watch it at all. Just my opinion 🤷‍♀️.
