Q: Why is a small portion of the video completely muted?
A: Copyright reasons. Sometimes I get hit with copyright claims AFTER the video has already been posted, my only choice is to refute the claim but if KZfaq denies it, I have to either take down the video or mute the small portion they are claiming. If the video has been up for a while, it is much easier for me to mute this small portion in the YT studio and then unmute it months later after people aren't watching the video as much.
Q: Why is the movie not as loud as I want it to be, why can't you show more of it uncut?

I LOVE THE CONSISTENCY OF THIS MOVIE, showing Esther less skilled at performing than when she had practice in the original movie, here she makes mistakes, she's more obvious in the way she acts but because as established in the first movie, she's a quick learner and was able to learn how to perform and act like a child.

Looking at the behind-the-scenes footage, you can see that the main character's appearance was slightly different and Isabelle's face was slightly smoothed using CGI.

Original movie has an alternative ending, where Esther was left at the greenhouse and she survives. Later she puts on her makeup and cops arrives. Studios are interested in 3rd movie.

What's interesting is that they used forced perspective photography to make Isabelle Furhman look small compared to her co stars with a little bit of CGI to De age her to make her 12 years younger.

I love how the movie tricks people into thinking that it's going to be another situation like the film from 2009 but ends up with a surprising twist. I also like that the film can stand on its own despite being a prequel ,people who watches the film don't have know what happened in the other film from 2009.

I had low expectations for this prequel but wow was I shocked at how much I loved it. I think it’s on par with the original the only winning factor is that the Esther’s twist is more effective than the twist in this movie but the twist in this movie was also pretty good I didn’t see it coming.

If they wanted to make a direct sequel to continue the franchise, they could simply retcon her death because honestly, she just got a kick in the neck and fell in the water. They could literally just have the police search the lake and not find her there and then we find out she's recovering from her neck injury or something. I wouldn't mind it lol

I can think of a couple of more prequel angles that could. 1. The events leading up to her incarceration into Sarane Institute 2. Events that take place in between First Kill and the original movie.

Loved the twist! I wasn’t sure if there was gonna be one this time around & I was def shocked at how early into the movie it was. I’d be perfectly fine with them leaving it at two movies, but Isabelle Fuhrman said in an interview that sequel discussions are already happening between the creative team & studio.

I enjoyed this alot. Not as scary as the first one though, but still very good. Like you I was also pretty confused about them not being able to recognize her and then it of course made sense. Doesn't explain why the dad couldn't, though, but whatever. I was really amazed by the rechnical stuff that they made her look younger and small. Couldn't have been easy for them to act around that. It looks very realistic. I'm surprised you didn't mention that lol

I think he wanted his daughter to come back so much, that he just decided to believe it was her. After all doctors did say to them that the change in four years can be huge.

I think the dad was so desperate to have his daughter again that he forced himself to ignore anything suspicious. There was a real case where a man came forward saying he was a boy who went missing as a kid years ago. The family believed him even though there was a lot of evidence he was lying. They were in denial because they wanted their son back. The dad character reminded me of that family.

There another ending to the original movie where It ends similar to the prequel of her basically kind of turning herself in to the cops after making herself look like a kid again. But with the fresh cuts all of her face from the greenhouse scene. If they made that canon then there’d be room for sequels.

this reminds me of something that actually happened in i think around the 90s to a 13 year old boy. he was killed by his older brother and the family covered it up years later when "their son came back home with an accent".

(Spoiler) After Esther escapes the mental hospital and we get introduced to the family, the song playing during Gunnar's fencing match is 'Evil' by Interpol, foreshadowing his and his mother's true nature.

I loved this movie. Even though it's worse on a story level when compared to the first, I still prefer it. Just because it isn't as disturbing to watch, and them keeping the same actress for Esther was genius. Her looking older in this added so much to the experience. The scene where she steals the car is my favorite scene in both movies. Just so funny

Orphan First Kill in my country recently had a theatrical premiere. I found out that this is a prequel just before the screening. I did some reading, but I focused on the movie. Leena was what she was, but you wanted to see some good in her. Rather, she was a victim of rejection that led her to this state. In the first part, Leena is supposedly pure evil. It would be nice if the third part was from the perspective of an investigative journalist who was interested in the case of Leena, who would be conducting his investigation into her life. Thanks to this, it would be possible to show the tragedy of her character. By the way, the creators could use plots that were planned for the 2009 movie, but ultimately didn't make it into the story.

@@MovieFusion I know that we didn't know about the twist, but like I said @ the beginning,if you look at Gunner when he stared at Esther's socks & before he gave her a hug, he knew that it wasn't Esther & the mom knew all along,but just played along and she really knew that it wasn't Ester when she sat down to look at a picture of Esther after running, I'm surprised you didn't pickup on it

One thing I’m wondering is.. her and the son knowing the daughter/sister was actually dead.. they could have still exposed this person for faking this, no? Because the solution to their issue with real Esther being missing was already said and done. I don’t see the benefit in her jumping on this bandwagon. Her pretending she came back doesn’t seem worth the risk of them knowingly letting some crazy person into their life and all this hoopla about Esther being found and the attention it brought. But alas, it’s a movie so I’ll go with it. I still liked it.

The detective was already suspicious of the mother and son before "Esther" even came back. Pretty sure she just went along with it because she was too scared for him to look more into it and discover what really happened but then again it is movie so.

@@damir392 oh I didn’t know the detective was suspicious of the family. I thought the reason he was suspicious was on Esther’s end. But yea I thought maybe they’d been paranoid after what happened, so letting this random Russian kid that sought them out and stole a kid’s identity, and the risk that came with that, outweighed possibly being caught if they were actually being looked at for suspicious behavior.

I would be ok with just a horrid slasher with mental torture, but the twist really made the story so much better. 24:00 I feel like unless they create another twist - the story would be kinda repeating itself. They could make another prequel, though. And a sequel with good amount of redconing or supernatural revival could also work. But I think this as duology is perfect as it is. I do think she clearly could be immortalised in some games though. Her as DBD villain would be fun to see.

I am not a fan of them using the same actress. She was in a movie with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson called “Cell”. She showed more promise for a good career if she would have kept building on that. Unfortunately for her, she was too good in the first Orphan and got type casted. No matter what she plays, she’ll always look like Ester. Daniel Radcliffe broke the mold of Harry, she could have done the same with this role. I wish her luck.

The first Orphan was way better! The twist made it feel like an SUV episode low budget the beginning was ridiculous she is 4 feet tall and can overtake grown people. The assylumn was not secured. And the people made dumb ass decisions

I’m sorry I loved this movie but hated the plot twist it was just horrible I’m my opinion they should of left the extra stuff out about the brother killing the daughter and mom hiding etc I think it takes away from the main point of the movie and villain. Which was Esther being the villain lol not introducing the new ones

thats the point if you knew esther’s back story you’d know she isn’t really the villain and neither are the family they killed the real esther on accident and covered it up it wasn’t on purpose and leaving the twist out would make the movie the same as the first one only we know leena is a grown woman
