17:53 Didn't see anyone explain it yet but the Walkers really are extremely heavily armored. However, their major weakpoint is in their neck. By making the Walker fall, it leaves their neck vulnerable and easier to aim at.

Don't forget, those things also possess a shield technology. You can see it a few times when the speeder's blaster fire "explodes" right near the walkers, but not on the metal itself. Once "downed", the shields go offline, possibly due to connection with the ground. It's never actually explained, but that's how it looks.

And it could also be that the "head" crashing into the ground may have ruptured the neck, making it more vulnerable.

“Jumping to light speed” is just what it sounds like - rocketing off at the speed of light! 😆 Which is why the stars all become streaks of light at that speed. It allows for travel to other parts of the galaxy without it taking possible months like with real space travel.

Empire Strikes Back Facts: - So first I’d like to point out besides the facts I shared on patreon how you notice at the end of the film C-3PO has a silver leg he had a silver one in the first film as well, - When George was coming up for an idea with Yoda he asked Jim Henson if he could puppeteer and voice Yoda, but he told him he couldn’t because he was busy with other projects, but recommended his friend Frank Oz who is also a puppeteer and nearly every time Yoda is voiced in any Star Wars media it is Frank Oz who you will know better as the director of Little Shop of Horrors among other films, - Originally before Han is frozen he was supposed to respond to Leia’s I love you with I love you too, but Harrison Ford felt that isn’t what the character would say so it became I Know, - This isn’t so much a behind the scenes detail, but is one people always miss is that in the last scene of Lando in the Falcon before they take off if you look carefully you will notice he is wearing Han’s clothes, - The film won two Oscars one for Best Sound and the other being an honorary award for Best Visual Effects, and John Williams was nominated for Best Original Score and the film was also nominated for Art Direction, -lastly if the enemy has black or white helmets that cover their face and armor on know they are on the bad guys side.

NO SPOILERS: It was briefly mentioned in Ep.4 that the Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy in the days before the Empire, drawing their power from the good or light side of the Force. It was also mentioned that they were generals during a conflict called the Clone Wars. Vader had been Obi-Wan's apprentice, but Vader was seduced to the dark side and helped the Empire hunt down and kill all the Jedi. The Emperor was also briefly mentioned a couple of times. It was mentioned on the Death Star that he had finally just done away with the puppet senate he had been keeping in place to give the illusion of a democracy. They explained that instead of senators, planets and systems would now be ruled by special Imperial warlords called Grand Moffs, regional governors who could rule as they pleased, answering only to the Emperor himself. You needn't worry about the particulars of any of this right now, but it will be elaborated on in future films. But basically, before the Empire, there had been a democratic Republic. There was no military because there had been peace for a thousand years. The peace was kept by the Jedi Knights, who were sort of like the Knights of the Round Table, marshals of the Old West, and Zen Buddhist monks combined. They dedicated their lives to mastering the Force in service to the Republic and maintaining peace within it. This isn't really a spoiler, but it was mentioned in novelizations, radio dramas, deleted scenes and other merchandise at the time that Darth Vader was a Dark Lord of the Sith. It was never explained which made it very mysterious, but it was clear that Vader wasn't exactly a Jedi, but something else that we hoped would be explained later.

You can go back to what Ben tells Luke in Episode IV after giving him his father’s light saber. "That place… is strong with the dark side of the Force. A domain of evil it is. In you must go." "What's in there?" "Only what you take with you. This scene is fascinating for so many reasons, It shows how much influence the force has on a person. Luke asks" What's in there?" and Yoda responds "Only what you take with you.' And he wasn't referring only to items like weapons but also emotions when he said Luke didn't need weapons he hesitated for a brief second and still took the lightsaber with him showing fear, once he enters the cave he finds Vader and once it's revealed that it was luke inside the mask, it wasn't just a vision, but one of the future and this shows us that by bringing fear with him into the cave, it was a path of the dark side and if Luke remained that way he would become Vader( not directly but someone who is corrupted by the dark side) and it serves as a realization to him the dangers that easily with simple and primal emotions such as fear can lead you to the dark side

We've seen that he will lie and cheat and say and do anything to get what he wants, he's been doing it the entire movie. It could just be another of Vader's manipulative tricks, tying to kick Luke while he's down to break him down and get him on his side.

The legs are just heavily armored, while the upper structures are lightly armored and protected by energy shields. If the walker falls, those energy shields ground out and are disabled. If the shields are down, the upper structure becomes vulnerable to energy weapons (blasters, etc).

i read years ago that the walkers have a small, weak shield generator, like the Millenium Falcon and X-wings, but not as strong or as sturdy. It's only meant to repel small arms fire from infantry, not ship-to-ship type engagements. . SO, they are immune to blaster fire, unless the shield generator is damaged and an important part of the generator is under the chin/neck area....so if the walker face-plants, it disables the shield immediately.

I would counter that creators sometimes hide the real protagonist of their work for the express purpose of faking out the audience. They could have killed or turned Luke and shifted the focus of the third movie to someone else - someone who was always there, but that we weren't expecting.

When Yoda found the cave it was shown that his greatest fear was a dark side version of himself. He eventually defeated his dark side mirror by accepting the simple fact that there would always be deep down within aspects of the dark side within him but that he had control over those negative aspects of himself. In Luke's case he saw his own head within the helmet of Vader. This had 2 meanings behind it, one was that if he was not careful, he would follow in Vader's footsteps. The second was a warning to Luke that he was in no way ready to take on Darth Vader for real and have any chance of winning.

11:37 - They put him into a Bacta tank. Bacta is a fluid in the Star Wars universe that quickens the healing process, and although I don’t think it’s seen much in the main movies characters in the smaller series and the extended universe (non-canonical books) are usually submerged in Bacta to heal extensive injuries. Side note: This whole sequence was added into the movie because Mark Hamill had been in a car accident which resulted in facial scars and the writers needed a way to explain them.

I think I can help you out with some details you need answered here... Reguarding Obiwan: A jedi or lightside user communes with the force with peace and guidance but everything and everyone actually has the force in them. It's just a jedi can go the EXTRA mile to it. Even in their death in a way ie force ghost I feel like you would LOVE the clone wars but it would really get emotional for you I miiiiight have to explain the place where Yoda brought Luke. Degoba is a very high force planet that force sensitive people can sense. He said and I Quote "only what you take with you" can be also be emotional or mental. That's why Luke was asking about the darkside earlier and why he took his lightsaber If need more smaller questions answered there is Wookieepedia example: the yeti creature is called a Wampa, force ghost like Obi, anti gravity technology, snow troopers, hyperspace, it's all there

33:00 - What you have to understand is that Yoda was testing Luke's patience. There's a reason for that, which will become clear in future movies. But take note of that. I don't give out "spoilers", so I can't really elaborate on it at the moment. Just pay very close attention to what Yoda and Obi-Wan say here. 37"25 - The Cave. Long story short, Yoda has been using that cave to "mask" his presence on Dagobah. The Cave has a strong connection to the Dark Side of The Force. Yoda knew this, so he set up his home near it, so that Vader and The Emperor could not sense him there. This was "well known" back when the movie came out, so it's technically not a spoiler. However, THIS might be a little bit of one: As a Jedi progresses in their training, between moving from a Padawan (student) to a Jedi Knight (low level teacher), they must go through "Trials". This is one such test, although, the tests are not "written in stone" as to how they are given. For Luke, he had to enter the Cave, and "face his fears" (Darth Vader). The Cave basically revealed to him that he was not yet ready to face Vader and could actually fall to the Dark Side, if he "chose the quick and easy path" as Yoda has said. It's kinda complicated, and the information comes from many sources that we had back in 1980-81. Also, when Luke asked, "What's in there?" and Yoda said, "Only what you take with you." He wasn't referring to Luke's weapons, which is why Yoda told him, "You will not need them." What Yoda was referring to was what Luke carried with him both mentally and emotionally. Remember, at this point, Luke believed that Vader had killed his father. So, deep down, he wanted some form of revenge or payback. That is not the Jedi way. So, his desire for revenge could lead him down the road to embracing the Dark Side and kill the man he believed had killed his father. I'll continue this later. I have to do some other stuff for a bit. But I'm enjoying your video.

Jumping to Lightspeed is essentially teleportation. Where they exceed the speed of light which allows them to travel vast distances across the galaxy in a matter of minutes or seconds even. The most notorious being Han Solo's ship (Millennium Falcon) where it can travel 1041.66 light years per hour: *697 billion mph!* (The math took longer) *Quick note: Darth Vader is basically a Cyborg. His story is explained through chapter I to III*

Oh, far, far faster than that, I think, @Robert Francis . And especially by Disney's Episode IX, when it can cross the galaxy in a matter of a couple of hours, seemingly. 6700 lyph is quite common, I think, for the Falcon.

@@chrissonofpear1384 The simplicity was comparing 1 light year to mph which was 670,616,629 mph. Very great reaction mate, I'm very happy you enjoyed this movie a lot more where it has so kind of hooked for episode 6. Same as my comment for your episode 4 reaction, I'll do my best to explain some stuff to try and help out. But the general thought is it's a shame that space battles don't do anything for your cause in a way, space battles are what make Star Wars well Star Wars, but not completely. It's gonna be interesting to see your take in later movies, but know that I understand and respect your opinion on things with these movies. So to explain a couple things to the best of my understanding, during the opening Battle of Hot, they trip the AT-AT (Walkers) to neutralize the shield that was keeping it safe from blaster fire. Kind of like opening a weakness since it was immobilized. Also, to be honest, I agree with you that the battle of Hoth doesn't do it for me either honestly, but a much better space battle will come. So moving on, when Yoda said Luke was "too old" that was very true with how new Jedi are formed. It's talked about and shown a lot more in the prequels, but back then, they started training when the kids were toddlers. The reasoning for this is it's easier to teach the ways of a Jedi to a very young child compared to a 10-year-old, teenager, and especially for a young adult like Luke (who was 22 for this movie) When Luke fought that illusion of Vader deep in the swamps and the mask is blown off to show a face, that was Luke's face. Basically saying in a way, is that if you follow the path to the dark side, Luke would become Vader. Now speaking of Vader real quick, obviously, he is Anakin Skywalker, and all I will say is that ep 6 touches on this topic, but the prequels (ep 1-3) fully show how and why Anakin turned into Darth Vader and ESPECIALLY why he looks like that under the helmet. Other little things/details: - Leia kissing Luke was only to get to Han, please know that when they made this movie, they didn't have everything planned out with what is gonna happen in Ep 6 so don't think too hard about this scene when a certain event gets reveal in Ep 6 - Yoda was testing Luke to see if he had patience, as you figured out, he was purposely being annoying as a test. Luke failed, which is why Yoda was hesitant to train him at first. - Keep in mind the line Yoda says "No there is another" this line can be interpreted in different ways, I will dive deeper into this line in the Ep 6 reaction. - Han being frozen in carbonite is like in other sci-fi movies where if you're frozen in ice, the person is completely fine. So don't worry about Han being physically injured by being frozen - Luke didn't get his arm cut off, only his hand got cut off. Fun facts: - The scars on Luke's face during the Wampa (Yeti) Cave and when he was recovering were real. Mark Hamil, the actor for Luke got into a serious car accident - Mark Hamil didn't like the scene where Luke cut off the Wampa's (Yeti) arm, cause he believe Luke would never hurt an animal/creature so violently. They never told him that's what happen, Mark only believed he was grazing/hitting the fur of the Wampa to scare it away. - Yoda is roughly around 900 years old during the events of this movie so can't really expect an old man to go with Luke into battle. Also, it was none of his business to interfere. - The scene with the Empororer is one of the enhanced versions of the movie and looks WAY better than the original scene. Side note, do watch Ep 6 in the same most recent version cause one of the ending scenes make a lot more sense for when you watch the prequels. - Han saying "I know" to Leia's "I love you" to what I remember was improvised, cause saying "I love you" back, though sweet, VERY cliche so good on Harrison Ford (Actor of Han) - Now to sadly end this on a sad fact, still, Harrison Ford wanted Han to fully die in this movie, cause he did not want to play him anymore. Of course, he's still alive and Harrison still plays him in Ep 6, but it's hard to ignore that he really hates Han as a character. Still, it's very impressive that even though he hates being Han, he does an incredible job as him. Shows how amazing an actor Harrison is. So if you read all this, I'm pretty surprised, but I appreciate you putting the time to hear my nerd Star Wars opinions on this movie, just wait till we get to my favorite, Ep 3. Thanks for reading and may the force be with you

I like that once Tarkin isn't around to stop him, Vader just kills everyone who annoys him, lol. Also I think the first clue we get that Vader is Luke's father is that when the Emperor is like 'kill the son of Skywalker' Vader's like '...OR how about I turn him?' This from the man who kill everyone who gets in his way. I think it's also only half a lie, that they said Vader killed Luke's father. He did, in a metaphorical way. Anikan 'died' and Vader continued on.

He also played a character on the long running sitcom Cheers.

This maybe 8 days late but here’s a funny story about the premiere. Nobody on set except for James Earl Jones (voice of Vader but not the suit actor) and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) knew that Vader was Luke’s father, and to hide it, the line used on set was “Obi-Wan killed your father.” At the premiere, Harrison Ford (Han Solo) sat next to Hamill, and when that line “I am your father” came up, Ford leaned to Mark and said “Hey kid, you didn’t f*cking tell me that.”

In the scenes where Luke escapes from the Wampa's lair rolling down the hill and where Obi-Wan first appears as a force ghost it was so cold outside that the cast and crew shot 15 feet from the doors of the hotel they were using. This May members of the 501st legion went back and revisited some of the Hoth sites including the glacial plain that the AT-AT's marched across.

Can you imagine what Vader must have been feeling the moment he watched his son jump off of that cliff, meaning he’d rather die than be with him. You can almost feel the confusion and anger through his mask. Because he believes that he is in the right and his son is a fool for not taking his offer of joining him. Edit: this also might be a reason why he doesn’t kill the last admiral, he is still thinking about what had transpired.

Remember what Yoda said was in the cave. "Only what you take with you". It was a test, and Luke failed. He took in his weapons, and went in expecting some type of conflict. So that's what the cave provided. Luke, confronted with a vision of Vader, immediately ignited his lightsaber and tried to destroy his enemy. "A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense. Never for attack". So, Luke killed his enemy and was confronted with the result: The possibility that *he* might fall and become like Vader.
