Love how non jedi like Solo can become generals in the rebellion, a nice change from the prequels where all padawans were commanders, and all knights and masters generals, not that I dislike it, but just that non force users who prove their worth and have skill can achieve the highest military rank, in the rebellion at least, Thrawn is of course even more impressive becoming a grand admiral as an alien in the empire, and the greatest tactician in the galaxy, who can only be beaten by the force.

I don't want to be insulting, but I agree. I was NINE when this film came out & was already a Jaded Star Wars Veteran. When she talks about not being able to handle 'Low Quality' early films, is she SERIOUSLY comparing complete and utter trash like 'Ant-Man and the Wasp- Quantumania' to this? So apparently, good writing, good characters and acting mean nothing, only effects made with a computer are any good. That's sad, almost bordering on tragic.

She seems to find it difficult to just enjoy the movie. She didn't seem to enjoy the first film so why does she bother? Two of the most boring and negative reactors I've ever seen. There are much better reactors than these two and I'm not gonna bother listening to the rest of their comments.

I grew up with this, and it is hard for me to believe there are generations that may have never seen this movie. 😔 I hope Monica starts to catch on because the things she seems to be missing are things that are very important to the story. I understand how she may not get it. They wrote it this way. It is hard looking back 40 years and forgetting the same question Monica is having i had then, and i had to wait years to get answers.

Han knew all along that she loved him but because both he and her were supremely stubborn and confident....they were at first reluctant to be open about their feelings. I think that's why he was so quick to say "I know"....and that was his way of saying "me too". Even though I was only a small child at the time, I still vividly remember the shock and audible gasps in the theater when Vader revealed he was Luke's father. Getting to experience that when it first happened on opening weekend is still one of my most vivid and cherished childhood memories. What wasn't so fun was all the times I got my ass kicked on the playground for the next three years whenever I would tell other kids I believed Vader was telling the truth. It was an extremely hot button issue at the time. 😅
@cenotemirror
@cenotemirror Жыл бұрын
There were HUGE debates at my elementary school over whether or not Vader was telling the truth. One camp said that he had to be because of the 'search your feelings' line. The other camp said that Vader was a bad guy and bad guys lie, and Ben was a wise good guy who wouldn't lie. Nobody could convince the other until... ...one day some genius kid came to school and dropped a real bomb on us. He had solved the mystery. He pointed out that Ben and Anakin fought in 'the Clone Wars'. We knew nothing about these clone wars but clearly they must have involved clones, right? So that was the solution... Darth Vader was an evil clone of Anakin Skywalker who had murdered the original. Thus, both Ben AND Vader were telling the truth. We were all stunned by the beautiful simplicity of this solution and all debates ceased. I went into Return of the Jedi sure this would be revealed, and was deeply disappointed when it turned out to be wrong. :D

I'm not sure what the confusion is about? He lost his hand and it was replaced with a robotic one. The father thing can be confusing ok but that's part of the intrigue to set up the third movie. Is Vader lying or is he telling the truth? Watch episode 3 to work out what is happening. It's a good confusion, not a bad confusion. Apart from the confusion though, don't you love the story and the progression of events? The betrayal? The strong bond between Luke, Leia and Han? The strong themes in the plot? Surely there is something there to intrigue and entertain you. This is masterful storytelling. Anyway, thanks for the reaction. Always nice to watch these.

"Say it back." He's been saying it for three years. Why do you think he's been with the rebellion for so long? He fought for her. He stayed for her. Her commitment to the rebellion and her own stubbornness kept her from expressing how she really feels and Han knew that. Between the lines: "I know, I have been waiting for you to say it to me for three years." It's his way of getting the last word in before he goes in.

Empire is where the "Wars" in Star Wars finally feels much more real. The opening battle sequence feels epic and really sets a tone of the rest of the movies when it comes to battle scenes. The writing is improved and stronger, the music is more impressive and the characters grow, change, face real challenges, suffer loss and injury. In Star Wars, it was the first victory, now the real fight is on. Man after watching Andor watching these brave soldiers facing up to the Empire hit's different.
@Muck006
@Muck006 Жыл бұрын
The battle on Hoth is a bit pathetic ... when none of the blasters of the defenders ever do anything to the walkers ... but a blast to the "neck" of the walker explodes it as if it was filled with petrol and explosives. This has been annoying with Hollywood special effects ... EVERYTHING explodes ... even if it is filled with ENERGY WEAPONS and non-combustibles ... AND it is a clear petrol "bomb". There is a better way to show that battle ... but you'd have to use logic and fight-planning to do it.

Empire is a great movie, BUT it is obviously referring to "what has come before" AND requires watching "what comes after it". Great reaction you two! 😊 RIP always to Carrie Fisher(Princess Leia)!!! This movie is my top favorite of the "Star Wars" movies, and in my top three all-time favorite movie sequels. Fun Fact #1: Mark Hamill was in a car accident before filming had started. And the Wampa(snow yeti) attack at the beginning of the movie was written in to explain the scars on his face. I always felt that Leia kissed Luke just to get a reaction from Han. And it did! Han and Leia's kiss on the Falcon is one of my all-time favorite "Star Wars" moments. And here we're introduced to two of my favorite characters: Lando Calrissian and Yoda. Love Billy Dee Williams as Lando. And Yoda is the freaking best! Fun Fact #2: Han's "I know" line was improvised by Harrison Ford during the carbonite scene. He's original line was supposed to have been "I love you too". But Harrison Ford thought it wasn't a Han Solo thing to say. So he changed it. And Han and Leia's "I love you" "I know" exchange became one of the most memorable moments. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

How is it a "great" reaction? I'm thoroughly confused by the fact that she's so confused - this whole story is incredibly easy to follow if you're paying attention and have a modicum of imagination and intelligence. Love your reactions so far :) Keep up the good work! One thing I want to point out is how Vader's mastery of the Force is overlooked (besides him choking Ozzel through a viewscreen). When Luke has the vision about Leia and Han's misfortunes on Bespin, it is the Future he sees. When he's about to leave Dagobah, Obi-Wan points out that he's walking into a trap: "It is you and your abilities the Emperor wants. That's why your friends are made to suffer." This means Vader knows enough about the Force to purposefully make Han and Leia suffer - including torturing Han - in the Future specifically to cause Luke to have visions in the Past and draw him out to him. He also knew that Luke would be able to find his way to him with the Force without having a clue where Han and Leia ended up at. What this also tells us is that the Force transcends time and space and Vader is well aware of that fact. So Vader is not just a brutal enforcer and right hand to the Emperor. He is a master of the Force in his own right.

And that is WHY you should always watch the OT first. Because if you watch the prequels first it will kill this big revelation and the next one in the next movie. Cause the surprises didn't end here.

Luke’s Jedi training felt similar to my martial arts training in the beginning. I used to think “He wants the impossible!” many times when learning a difficult kick or form. Now that I’ve been in the master instructor role for a while, I have been known to reference Yoda quite a bit with “Unlearn what you have learned!” as well as the famous “Do or do not!” line. Most of the students get it, and appreciate their instructor has a soft spot for those movies.

Not a great reaction when she just sits there, arms folded, looking bored. Feel sorry for Rico because her behaviour will ruin most of his future reactions if he continues to react alongside her. And you only get one shot at movies like this.

1:43 so Han understands the wookie language just as Chewie understands basic (which is the basic form of universal language that is accepred across the galaxy). Now Han Solo may not speak Shyriiwook (Wookie language) but he understands it. Chewbacca is the same.

41:53 Han has been professing love for Leia since the beginning of the movie. Go back and look at his body language around her since they got to Cloud City. Walking arm in arm. Him kissing her on the forehead. Heck look at hers toward him. He loves her and has known she loves him for a while.

21:48 Once you realize who Vader is this conversation takes on a different meaning. Vader is actually working to keep Luke alive. The Emperor just wanted to eliminate Luke. It was Vader’s idea to try and turn Luke. Even though he is consumed with anger and hate he is still trying to look out for his son.
