It's really difficult for me to find things that can engage my daughter with the hobby I love, but she's quite enjoying watching you play and teach. Thank you so much for making these and making it not "weird" for her to be a girl who likes the gaming hobby. I know I explained why these videos matter poorly, but I hope you can get where I'm coming from. Please, please keep making these.

This makes sense 100% and is really meaningful for me to read. There were toys I wanted to engage with growing up that I didn't because I thought people would think I was weird for liking toys "meant for boys" and not girls. This meant I missed out, and it makes me really sad to look back on now. If I'm doing even a tiny thing to help another girl growing up feel comfortable liking what she likes, it's incredibly gratifying. So thank you.

@@PaulaDeming Yeah honestly back in the days before KZfaq and streaming, I wish there was educational videos there were more inclusive about Warhammer for ladies! It still very much is a dude hobby about how powerful your toys are but a lot of ladies enjoy the hobby too - some like to play competitively, some like to play narrative, some like to paint beautiful figures and honestly as long as you're enjoying Warhammer in your own way, its cool!

I know this comment is a tad old but as a girl also in this hobby it's great to see younger girls not afraid to get into it (or what happens more often, get bullied out of it)

Thanks for part 2! I'm still learning AOS myself and its so much fun to watch you 2 ladies play! Yeah the Gutrippaz are stat wise not great (roll 4 ups to hit and wound and saving on 5s or 6s) so they do need to be in big groups to compensate for losses! Felt bad for Paula just watching her stuff get wiped slowly.

Lovely what you’re trying to do. Your gut rippas had more chances of winning I think: each round in Age of Sigmar, you roll off for who goes first. So after the initial stormcast and kruleboyz round, a role off should decide the order of the next turn. Those gut rippas could have ‘double turned’ at least one of those stormcast units into pieces with your climbing tactics I think ;)

Yeah this is the thing with Warhammer that it is quite a luck based game despite the unit stats, but there are ways to 'modify' your luck if things don't go your way with command points, abilities and etc. which adds layers to the game. Then its just a matter of timing and how much you remember which and when to use the rules to your favor.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 3 жыл бұрын
@@Grimsg And that luck is a little more involved here, as you say, since these teaching scenarios haven't introduced some of those other elements yet - but we'll keep adding them as new episodes continue. Maybe those Kruleboyz while get a shot at a win yet :)

I enjoy the fact that you make a point of pronouncing "gutrippas" in a way that makes it clear you're not saying "gut rippers" because that wouldn't be very orky of you. Also, at 3:20 I feel like it's worth mentioning that your text has a typo in "coherent" (there's no "a")

In the combat phase, the players alternate picking a friendly unit to fight, starting with the player whose turn is taking place. So even though it is one of the player's turns, they each participate in each others Combat phases. Hope that helps!

As much as I'd like to see the minis and terrain fully painted for this series, I don't think people learning the game at home should have to paint their minis before learning to play. It is good to know about the painting rule some tournaments use though
@PaulaDeming
@PaulaDeming 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dextar -- no they aren't painted. But this is meant to introduce AoS to people who have never played before and might be intimidated or put off by the idea of building and painting a whole bunch of minis before they can even play and see if they like the game. If you're just playing at home or with friends and want to try it out, painting should not be a barrier to that. That's why mine are primed and Monique's are just built. To show people that the game still functions in that state, and they can always add the painting later once they've fallen in love with the system!
