Fun fact for #3: There is actually a single frame shot where bulma's chest is completely exposed but no one notices it because it goes by so fast. It's however clearly shown in the manga with zero censorship whatsoever.

Seriously guys... C'mon. I agree the way that scene played out is most definitely harsh but from a storytelling perspective it was 100% necessary. If not for the way the bad guys beat up Videl Gohan wouldn't have been as motivated to try to get revenge for her. It's basic storytelling.

that scene when Roshi's face was planted in 18's chest, and her subsequent reaction to it, was downright hilarious! while there is nothing funny about being a pervert, giving a pervert much more than they asked for and therefore exposing their perverseness, whether intentional or not is still the best form of karma. it also makes for comedy gold when the woman (since it's mostly women) either uses it to her advantage and/or when she angrily and sometimes violently reacts to it. I.o.w Dragon Ball employed a ton of slap-stick comedy for a show that is as action-heavy as it is and it was a marriage made in heaven.

Controversial risks? Japan is different from the U.S especially in this day and age. That's why Japanese anime is the best. I have also seen how like 4 kids treated Japanese anime in the U.S just to satisfy the appropriate rating assigned to an anime. I prefer the O.G without the edits.

Probably just me as a Mexican, but always found DB/DBZ sense of ecchi humor/fanservice tastefully right on the spot. It rarely interfere with the serious moments, and is so sparse between at times months of episodes away that when happens it actually takes one by surprise, but it never feels like it steps outside the ball except for like two moments in the OG DB

Yeah, needless to say that even though anime like Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and even Pokemon have always all been loved by kids as well as adults, especially to this very day... they all started in the 1980s and 1990s, and plenty of those decades' anime shows weren't exactly what you'd call "100% family friendly to watch"

If Dragon Ball(1986 -) went too far, then my favorite anime series, Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014) went too far too since the series have lots of ecchi and fanservice scenes for most of the episodes. Dragon Ball(1986-) is one of the biggest influences to Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014).Both of them are still awesome to watch anyway.

No doubt. Although I have to binge on the latter anime show. I was around second grade when I started anime. I was up at around 6:30am, getting ready for school, watching Sailor Moon. Then I got into Dragon Ball a little later, along with Speed Racer (though I watched the latter show during the evening; greatest nostalgia trip).

Cut from everything american. We here have an uncensored release of the full color version of the manga, and it does have Bulma in full view and Yamcha stunned by that. The only censorship is Yamcha hair partially covering the crotch, but that's original verison.
