Did you know that 3,5 Million people die every year due to the lack of clean drinking water and proper water treatment?!
On January the 1st 2013, the United Nations introduced the International Year of Water Cooperation. The access to clean water is a Human Right. Cutting the number of people without access to safe fresh water is one of the Millennium Development Goals.
This high appreciation in international agreements has a reasons. Water is crucial for the development in many different sectors:
For example, the agriculture sector, the health sector and sometimes even the security sector.
How exactly do these relationships work and what are the main problems in the water sector?

Interesting and informative. A few notes: 1) It wasn't really the countries of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan that started draining the Aral Sea -- it was the Soviet Union that directed this effort, Kaz and Uz weren't countries and had no choice. 2) While it takes far more water to produce a certain volume of meat compared to a volume or rice, there is far more caloric value in the meat. It may not equate to the greater water usage, but makes the comparison more meaningful.

NO water comes from the tap....The video has a nice set of information and it is well done, BUT the very early statement that water in developed countries comes from the tap perpetuates serious misconceptions....all water comes from some natural source - none of it comes from a tap....I understand your intent to highlight the fact that water distribution systems in developed countries are able to deliver clean water via 'the tap'....but that has nothing to do with the actual availability of water resources in a country. I do congratulate you on a nice video - it highlights very critical considerations and increases global discussion about water - The video is creative, engaging, and well produced.

hmmm.... interesting issue about beef and meat products... i live in a country dependent on its free rang cattle and beef industry. I doubt though that thew water used to raise our cattle in our dry land could be anywhere near that used for growing rice or anything for that matter. Especially when using traditional methods to prepare the meat. maybe most of the water is used in preparation of the carcasses... i dont know. better and more informed views would help me.

As we celebrate Mother's Day, Mother Earth needs help! If it goes, we go with it! It is our job, all of us, without hard feelings, because it is for all! Let's start the evolution, enough with the industrial revolution, from now on the politic is not humanitarian, it is for the sake of Humanity!
