For anyone out there having trouble using a pen/pencil to focus or just having trouble getting your focal point at all you can try what I did as an alternative. Instead of using a pencil, pen, or similar object to get your focus, cut a piece of string and tape it to the dropper right where the water would be dripping from and let it dangle down into the water and get your focus that way. Nice to have options :) and awesome tutorial!

Why do macro photographers all seem to hate specular highlights? I love them myself. It gives it a glossy smooth look. BTW you don't need a macro lens. Many lenses have a close focusing distance such as the 24-105 L which is perfectly adequate. Even if you can't get close you can always use a crop camera or crop in post if you have the megapixels. And Topaz works wonders on water to sharpen it up
@Firstmanphotography

I dislike it because it completely over exposed and therefore looks terrible in print.

I´m quite advanced in drop-fotography. I already have a dedicated system for my setup: Search "Glimpsecatcher" and you will find a guy from Luxembourgh called Claude who professionally built this units for highspeed. I´m always recommending a longe macro such as a 150/180 mm lens with f/2.8 or f/3.5 to avoid water splashes on the front of your lens. Due to the fact that the action is freezed by the flash light itself it´s not necessary to use a 1/200 or 1/250 exposure. The flash will do the work for you. Try to avoid over 1/8 of your flash´s power ratio. Good luck !

Hi Adam, another great video, I've had some great success with water drop collisions, but finding it difficult to get the actual collision to focus from front to rear. I'm using a good macro lens, and my setup is very similar to yours, I've tried various F-stops , and the water stem is always in focus. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Keep these videos coming!! Thanks.

so beautiful ! most of people use 1-2 sec exposure in a dark room. is it possible that remaining open so long time, we are sure to get the right instant when flashes trigger while at 1/200sec you could be offset ? 1/200sec is 5msec opening while waterdorp takes 200msec to drop and fire the speedlites. I agree it works in your case but i just wondered...

Hi, can you give a rough idea of a good starting point of the 4 dials on the splashart machine. I know there are no markings but perhaps you could use a 360 degree clock face with 12 o’clock being 0 as a guide. Or even a photo of the positions of the dials. I have ordered a machine and I’m waiting delivery. Thanks in advance.

by hantax gum how much do you wear? Do you use hot water? Then some milk? When I try, I have some lumps of hantax gum in the middle, a nice thick liquid doesn't come out like in your video. I am using the pluto valve but it is not easy to find the right combination, because I have seen that with the same settings the stem or the hat does not always come out, maybe communication delays with the pluto trigger and the camera :(

@Firstmanphotography
@Firstmanphotography 6 жыл бұрын
Hi. You can check my review of the printer here. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bs-Tpq2Tu7ysiXk.html The main benefit over the 100s is the chroma optimizer ink. It coats the paper and adds an extra level of quality. The 10s also comes with the Canon Print Studio plug in which is very nice. The 100 doesn't have this.

Some flash guns can be bought very cheaply on the used market. The key is to be able to fire them of the camera. Wireless flash triggers are now pretty cheap and can be picked up for under £40. The flashes from Nikon will obviously be best but the range from YONGNUO is also now pretty decent. Appreciate the comment. Thanks
